Breathwork For Expansion
This guided breathwork practiced is designed to allow you to expand & remove blocks. Although each experience is unique, most students walk away feeling energy flow through their body more freely & find moments where they are able to transcend habitual thought patterns and rest into awareness. This practice is inspired by work of Bree Melanson.

Hi friends and welcome back to another meditation breathwork practice.
This is a breathwork for expansion and it's based on a practice with Bree Melanson.
And so for this practice,
It's super important to set yourself up well.
And this practice is going to be done lying down on your back.
You can lie on your bed or on your yoga mat.
And I want you to lie down in such a way that your body is totally free to let the energy flow.
So maybe you're moving things out of the way,
You're taking the pillow out from underneath your head so that you can lie completely flat.
You might put on some warm socks,
Grab a blanket because the body tends to cool down when we get into these deeper states of relaxation.
Also before we get started,
I encourage you to make sure that your devices are turned off or at least the notifications are off.
Maybe grab an eye pillow so that the light isn't blocking coming into your eyes.
You can just listen,
You do not need to look at the screen for this practice.
And then in addition to making sure that you are not going to be disturbed throughout the practice,
I also invite you to really support yourself,
Make it an environment such that you feel like you're creating a sacred space for yourself.
So this could look like lighting a candle.
It could be burning some incense,
Maybe grabbing some of your favorite crystals,
Placing them on the body or in your hands.
Or maybe it's just as simple as making yourself have a clean space so that you're not distracted and you feel like you're really settled in.
So if you need a couple moments to set up your space,
I encourage you to pause this video and do so and we will get started in just a moment.
All right,
So I'd love for you to lie down on your back and set yourself up for this breathwork for expansion.
Let your body settle into the ground.
Let yourself take up space.
You can shift and move around a little till you feel like you're fully settled.
Like the energy can freely move through your body in the sacred space that you've created for yourself.
In this breathwork practice,
We are going to be breathing through the mouth the entire time.
The first part of the breath is going to be in to the belly.
The second part will be in to the chest and then the exhalation will be out through the mouth.
So it might sound something like this.
Okay,
So this might be a bit different than anything you've ever done before.
Let it be new.
Let it be just something to explore,
Something to be curious about.
So I invite you to begin breathing in through the belly,
Chest,
Exhale out through the mouth and just continuing that breath pattern just like that and reminding yourself that the deeper that you breathe,
The deeper the experience that you have and the more shallow you breathe,
You might have a little bit more of a shallow experience.
But that being said,
I invite you to meet yourself exactly where you are,
Letting your breath be as deep or as shallow as it needs to be for you to feel like you are able to expand to a way that feels safe and comfortable.
But that being said,
You're also going to be pushing yourself just a bit to expand to where it might feel uncomfortable and it might feel challenging,
But to stay with it knowing that you are safe and knowing that you can take a pause at any time.
So continuing the breath,
Knowing that it's completely normal for the ego and the mind to be resistant,
Even for the body to be resistant as you do this practice,
As you introduce this new way of breathing.
And as we breathe deep down into the belly,
Expanding out through the chest,
Breathing out,
Letting the lungs deflate on the exhale,
Notice the way that you're able to access a greater amount of energy in your body.
You might notice that you're feeling some tingling sensations,
Some buzzing waves of emotion might come up.
And whatever is happening in your experience is absolutely normal.
Continuing the breath,
Knowing that it will get easier.
Beautiful breath,
Staying with it,
Perhaps even inviting it to be a little bit deeper now.
Breathing into the belly,
Into the chest,
And exhaling it out through the mouth,
Allowing sensations,
Pulsing,
Allowing emotion to just move through you as you expand your capacity to feel energy flowing through your body.
Inviting you to set an intention for your practice if you haven't already.
What are you calling in?
What seed within you are you nourishing so that it might grow and blossom within you?
Letting your intention permeate through your whole being and knowing always that if an intention doesn't come to mind,
It's a beautiful thing to allow that space to be open,
Open to receiving something from this practice and just surrendering to the experience,
Letting it be just as it is.
Staying with the breath.
And I'd like to invite you to ponder,
Who are you without the blocks?
Who are you beyond the story that you tell yourself of who you are?
And what would be possible if those stories and those limits and blocks weren't there?
Who could you be in this world?
What would it look like and feel like to expand to your fullest expression?
What would it look like to use the gifts that you know you are given?
In a book I recently read with Gay Hendricks,
The Big Leap,
Talked about how at the end of your life,
God will not ask you,
You know,
Why were you not Moses?
God will ask you,
Why were you not you?
So who could you be if you were to express yourself to your fullest expression?
How good would it feel?
Continuing to breathe here.
Staying with the breath,
Staying with it,
Allowing any emotions to just flow freely through you.
If you feel you need to cry,
You need to yawn,
Maybe you need to let out a sigh or a sound.
Just letting whatever sounds need to emerge come through you.
You are safe,
Protected.
You are in held space.
Continuing to let out maybe a few vocalizations.
Breathing,
Allowing your experience to be just as it is,
Knowing that it might feel really unusual,
Strange to hear yourself make these sounds that maybe we don't normally make in society.
But just allowing yourself to vocalize,
To use your voice and simply let what's coming up come out and through you.
One more sigh or vocalization.
Good,
Beautiful.
Letting go of the prescribed breath pattern.
Simply breathe in and out through your mouth.
Allowing your breath to come back to normal.
Moving into a state of integration,
Breathe in and out through your nose.
Allowing your awareness to follow maybe the pulsations in the palms,
The energy moving through the body.
And if you're not noticing those pulsations or energy flowing,
Just accepting yourself right as you are and knowing that your experience is perfect just as it is.
You are receiving the benefits of this practice no matter your experience and how different it might be from one day to the next.
Continuing to breathe in and out through the nose.
Just taking a moment to acknowledge what's come up for you throughout this practice.
What messages did you receive?
What insights came through?
And as you start to wiggle fingers and toes,
Letting those insights come to the forefront of your mind,
You might grab a journal and jot down what came through.
And no matter where you are,
I want to honor you for practicing today.
Thank you for allowing me to guide you.
I hope you have a beautiful day and I'll see you next time.
Namaste.
