Welcome.
Today we will practice Brahma-ri Pranayama or humming bee breath.
This type of breath work can be done as a meditation practice to help you quiet and still your mind.
It will also help you relax your body,
Reduce anxiety,
Improve focus and it will help you become aware and mindful of the present moment.
It also helps cardiovascular functions,
Lowering heart rate,
Respiratory rate and blood pressure.
It improves lung function and respiratory endurance.
It has a calming effect and lung enhancement results.
Sit up tall in a comfortable seat and make sure you don't practice this breath work if you have extreme high blood pressure or ear infections,
If you are menstruating or pregnant and please do not practice this breath work laying down.
You should also stop immediately if feeling any adverse effects.
Listen to these instructions before you start the practice.
You are going to gently plug your ears with your thumbs and index fingers on your forehead.
With your mouth closed,
Take a full inhale and fill up your lungs.
Keeping your mouth closed while you exhale,
Produce a humming sound.
Because your ears are covered,
The sound will resonate loudly in your head.
This is to generate full awareness of the action while keeping outside distractions at bay.
Lay your fingers gently on your face as you do this and enjoy the vibration of your own sound.
We will take 10 breaths to fully experience the effects of this practice.
When complete,
Lower your hands to your lap.
Aah.
.
.
Ah.
.

.
Hum Mmmmm Mmmmm Mmmmm Mmmmm Mmmmm Mmmmm Mmmmm Mmmmm Mmmmm Mmmmm Mmmmm Mmmmm Mmmmm Mmmmm Mmmmm Mmmmm Mmmmm Last one.
Mmmmm Mmmmm Mmmmm Mmmmm Place your hands down on your lap.
Keep your eyes closed.
And just notice how you feel.
Notice the energy flowing through your body.
And the effects of the vibration of your own sound.
Connect deeply with the stillness within.
Namaste.
