The Soft Belly meditation is useful because it combines body awareness with guided imagery and is accessible to everyone, regardless of their familiarity with meditative techniques and their customary religious beliefs or practices. The Soft Belly meditation invites you to relax, let go of thoughts and activities preoccupying them and “enter into” the present moment.

Transcript

Hi,

Welcome to your Concentrative Meditation practice,

Soft belly breathing.

Take this moment to settle in your space.

Take a deep breath and allow your eyes to close or find a gaze softly in front of you.

Breathe deeply in through the nose and out through the mouth.

In through the nose,

Out through the mouth.

In through your nose,

Out through the mouth.

Imagine your belly is soft.

To encourage this process,

You can say to yourself,

Soft as you breathe in and belly as you breathe out.

Soft belly.

Soft belly.

Soft belly.

Soft belly.

If thoughts come,

Let them come and let them go and return your awareness to your breath in soft belly breathing.

No matter how often your mind wanders,

Gently bring it back to the breath,

The breath coming into the body and the breath leaving your body.

Soft belly.

Soft belly.

Soft belly.

Soft belly.

Take a deep breath and a stretch and open your eyes.

Notice how you feel.
