A shamanic journey will take you from this present state of consciousness to another state of awareness.
In this journey I will guide you to travel to the upper world to meet your guides.
If this is your first shamanic journey you may or may not meet your guide.
Just listen to the sound of my voice and feel the drum beat.
You can repeat this process many times but not on the same day.
Give yourself a 4 day rest period before attempting the meditation again.
You will need to prepare a few things before we begin.
First,
You will need to make sure you are not disturbed for the next 20 minutes or so.
Gather props to make yourself comfortable and make sure you are warm.
Have a journal or a notepad in pen nearby to write about your journey when it is completed.
When you journal try not to analyze your experience.
Just write.
You may come to a better understanding of your journey later in the day or even in the days to follow.
During the journey drums will help you shift your awareness.
To come back from the journey there will be a slight pause in the drumming followed by a series of 4 short beats.
Then the beats will go faster to guide you back.
Then there will be another series of 4 short beats to end the journey.
In the upper world we meet guides and spirits.
So take a moment now to set an intention.
Who do you want to meet in the upper world?
Be clear.
Be very clear on who it is you want to meet or what it is you want to experience in the upper world.
If you do not know who it is you want to meet then simply form an intention around going to the upper world to explore.
Now state that intention to yourself for clarity by finishing this sentence.
I am going on a shamanic journey to the upper world to.
.
.
I am going on a shamanic journey to the upper world to.
.
.
Now that you have your intention and have phrased it we can begin.
Lie down and make yourself comfortable.
Cover yourself with a blanket.
Use pillows to prop your head,
Your lower back,
Under the knees.
Then maybe use an eye pillow or something to cover your eyes to block out the light.
Begin to slow down the breath.
Let the exhale relax you deeper and deeper.
If thoughts arise just acknowledge them and let them go like the clouds floating by against a light blue sky.
Exhale and relax deeper.
Bring to mind a place in nature.
This is a place you are familiar with.
Perhaps you have been here before.
It can be a forest,
It can be a beach,
Anywhere in nature.
Imagine you are sitting in this place.
It is familiar and it is safe.
You like to go here to connect with nature and to be still.
See yourself in this place.
Now breathe in a pure bright white light and let that white light settle into your being.
When you are completely relaxed we will repeat the intention several times.
I am going on a shamanic journey to the upper world to.
.
.
Bring your awareness to that place in nature and see yourself sitting there.
The sky is blue,
There are a few white fluffy clouds and the sun is shining brightly.
You look around and you see a large tree just off to the side.
You get up and walk over to the tree and stand underneath it.
The tree is so big that you cannot see the top of it.
It reaches high into the sky beyond the clouds.
And as you look up you wonder what is beyond its highest branch.
You begin to climb the tree effortlessly.
You climb the tree ascending high above the ground,
Up and up.
As you walk up the tree you go,
You feel safe,
So safe.
You are going on a shamanic journey to the upper world.
You are as high as the clouds now and you come to a membrane.
You reach up and touch it and it springs back against your touch.
You wonder if you can penetrate it,
So you push on it a little harder.
The membrane splits to reveal pure white light emanating from above the membrane.
You begin to climb through it and you find yourself in the upper world.
It's white.
You look down at your feet and it looks as though you are standing on clouds.
It's the most beautiful,
White,
Pristine place you have ever seen.
Look around.
You announce that you are here on a shamanic journey to the upper world.
State your intention.
I am here on a shamanic journey to.
.
.
I am here to.
.
.
You decide to explore.
Go now and explore the upper world.
Walk amongst the beauty of the upper world.
If you encounter a being,
Tell them why you are here and ask them if they are your guide.
Are they the reason why you are here?
And if they're not,
Continue to explore.
Explore.
Ask questions.
State your intention.
Are you my guide?
I am here to explore.
Are you my guide?
Are you my spirit guide?
I am here to explore.
Are you my guide?
I am here to explore.
Are you my guide?
I am here to explore.
Are you my guide?
I am here to explore.
Are you my guide?
I am here to explore.
Are you my guide?
I am here to explore.
Are you my guide?
I am here to explore.
Are you my guide?
I am here to explore.
Are you my guide?
I am here to explore.
Are you my guide?
I am here to explore.
I am here to explore.
Are you my guide?
I am here to explore.
Am I your guide?
Listen,
Listen,
Listen.
You hear the drum pause.
You turn to your guide and they know you have to go.
Thank them.
Thank you.
As the drum beats faster,
You find yourself traveling at lightning speed along the same path you took to get this far.
You see the top of the tree peering through the soft clouds and you begin to climb down the tree.
Fast,
So fast.
You connect your feet to the earth and you step back from the tree and sit down in the place you first started,
Where you began the journey,
In nature.
See yourself sitting in nature.
Bring yourself to the place where you first started,
That place in nature.
When the drum beats four times,
You will be back in your body.
Feel your body.
Feel your body and be aware that you are lying down.
Wiggle your toes.
Circle your ankle.
Bounce your knees.
Wiggle the hips.
Move your fingers and thumbs.
Circle your wrist.
Rock your head from side to side.
Remove the covering on your eyes,
But keep your eyes closed.
Stretch your arms above your head and point your toes away from you to stretch through the feet.
Take a moment to blink your eyes open.
Adjust to the light.
Adjust to your surrounding.
And now,
Journal your experience.
Just journal whatever comes to memory.
And when you are finished,
Bow your head in reverence and give thanks.
