Five Ways To Bring Inner Calm
Life is busy, there's always something going on. People react differently to life's challenges. Some people become flustered whilst others never seem stressed. Why is that? Inner calm gives you peace and allows you to react to things in a positive way, and then life runs smoothly. Everything begins somewhere, and these five steps are a good starting point. Thank you for listening. These are my thoughts and suggestions. I look forward to hearing from you.

Hi,
And welcome to my Tranquil Spirits podcast.
My name is Jacqueline,
And today I'd like to share with you five things to bring in a calm.
Life is busy no matter who you are or what you do.
There is always something going on,
Something to deal with or some emotion to feel.
Whether you have a family or not,
Your day is filled with busyness or idleness.
You can be bored and feel you have nothing to do.
You can be overwhelmed with a list of things to do which causes you stress.
Your mind is always active,
And depending how much control you have over your thoughts,
Your thoughts can run riot and leave you feeling miserable because you didn't do this or you forgot to do that.
But some people with busy lives never seem stressed or overwhelmed with things.
Why is that?
Many of these people take time each day to bring inner calm to their life.
They take the time to create peace within themselves.
When you have inner calm,
Things in life don't stress or overwhelm you.
You deal with the solution to issues rather than focusing on the problems.
With inner calm you do the things you can do and the rest you leave without worry or guilt.
You know you don't have to be superman or superwoman.
When you have inner calm,
You react to things in a positive way.
You don't have judgement or doubt,
Just acceptance for things the way they are.
With inner calm,
Life seems so peaceful and tends to run smoothly.
Why be in a hurry when there are things to enjoy along the way?
You don't have to be someone special to have inner calm.
You just have to want to change a seemingly negative pace of life to one of calm.
It's very easy to do,
But like all things,
You need to practice it every day until it becomes an easy habit for you.
Everything has to start somewhere,
And these five simple practices which I'm going to share with you now will help bring you inner calm.
Now the first one is meditation,
And meditation is a great tool to have because it's not about sitting somewhere for 20 minutes,
Half an hour,
Clearing your mind of nothingness.
That really isn't meditation.
Meditation is more about being at peace with yourself,
Just allowing yourself to take five minutes,
Two minutes,
One minute even,
Just for yourself to feel the calm.
Now there's lots of guided meditations out there,
There's lots of different ways that you can meditate if you find that just laying still you can't deal with that,
Especially when you first start if it's something that you're not used to doing.
So try a guided meditation first just to allow you to follow something other than your mind which thinks about what you're going to have for dinner,
What you need to put on the shopping list,
Etc.
But meditation really does give you a sense of calm and a sense of peace.
The second thing is gratitude.
Now gratitude is something that a lot of people kind of forget about because a lot of people just accept that good things happen in their life.
They accept that their heart beats every day,
They accept that the moon's going to rise,
But when we express gratitude or thankfulness it gives us that inner feeling of fulfillment,
If you like,
Of feeling lucky,
Feeling grateful,
Feeling thankful,
And when you've got those feelings within you it's very difficult to feel anger or resentment or any of those negative thoughts because we're thankful that we're breathing,
We're thankful that we have family around us,
We're thankful that we have the rain to make the food grow,
Whatever it is there's so many things to be thankful for.
The third one is prayer.
Now we're always asking for things.
We ask the universe,
We ask God,
We ask our creator,
Whoever it is that we believe in,
Our fairies,
Our guides,
Whoever it may be.
So we're always asking for things,
Whether we realize it or not,
You know,
We just throw out a thought,
Oh my gosh,
I really hope things work out well,
Oh why can't things go right for me,
You know,
Those kind of things as well as the things that we actually remember or know that we're asking for.
But do you thank whoever it is for that prayer,
The things that you ask for.
Now when we actually take control,
When we're actually purposefully praying and asking for the good things in life and asking for what we may need in life,
Whatever it may be,
Because what we think of as good things,
Someone else may have a different thought on it.
So it's whatever it is that you're praying for and asking for,
You have to have that clarity of mind,
That peacefulness within you,
That belief that it's going to happen.
And if you're doing it from a negative state,
Then you're probably doing it more in a belief that it's not going to happen,
That you believe,
Oh my goodness,
I'm asking for this,
But I know it's never going to happen,
That kind of state.
But what we're asking here is that we do it in the state of calmness,
In the state of peace.
So we pray,
We pray for our food that's coming,
We pray for the sun to shine,
We pray for the rain to fall,
Whatever it is that's going to bring joy to our life,
Not something for the ego or for the greed within us.
The fourth thing to do,
Which I find extremely relaxing,
Is colouring.
When was the last time you coloured in a picture,
Had a colouring book and crayons or felt tip pens?
I absolutely adore colouring and it relaxes me in a way that I can't even describe to you.
Now some people will doodle and doodle is another great way,
You kind of lose yourself in those strokes,
In those lines,
In you know,
Whatever it is that you're doing.
So finding one of these things to do really does bring that inner calm and peace to you.
And the fifth one is all about self-love.
Now if we don't love ourselves,
Then how can we share love with others?
That self-love for you,
That doing the things that make you feel good,
Doing the things that make you feel happy,
Having that inner love for yourself.
How many times have you looked in the mirror today and when you've done that,
Have you actually looked at yourself properly and just express how much you love yourself,
How beautiful you are,
How amazing you are,
What a great day that you've had today,
All those amazing things that you've accomplished today?
I expect the answer from a lot of you is no.
But if you try and express that self-love to yourself,
It gives you a different feeling,
It gives you that warm glow inside,
It gives you that feeling of yes I am important,
Yes I do mean something to someone.
So self-love is a great practice to do every single day.
Those are my five simple practices,
Meditation,
Gratitude,
Prayer,
Doodling or colouring and self-love.
And there are many,
Many more things you can do.
Some will become more obvious as you practice these things daily.
Develop your own routine.
What one person enjoys may not feel good to another.
There are no right or wrong things to do here.
It's more about the practice of feeling relaxed and experiencing happiness with each practice.
After only a few days you will experience a much calmer life and mindset.
Taking time for yourself is not selfish.
If you're feeling stressed,
Those around you feel it and many times develop stress themselves.
If you feel love and gratitude in your heart,
Then you are more able to share these feelings with people who need it.
By practicing daily in a calm you will recognise when you feel negative and you won't want to stay that way,
I assure you of that.
You'll take more control of your emotions and you'll start to lead a more positive and loving life.
This is your life.
You were born to be happy and enjoy every day.
So live the best life you can.
You deserve it.
I hope you found this helpful in some way.
Please feel free to message me.
I enjoy hearing your thoughts and I thank you for taking time to do that.
