Hi everyone.
My name is Nikki and I will be guiding today's meditation on releasing control.
Just take a few moments to make yourself comfortable.
Feeling free to fidget and find your way into a position that feels pleasant to be in for about the next 10 minutes or so,
Knowing that you can readjust as needed.
When you're ready,
I invite you to close your eyes or soften your gaze.
Feel your body and the parts of you that meet the surface below you,
Connecting you a little deeper to the earth.
Welcome yourself to this part of the day and this moment.
Maybe it's the first moment you're taking for yourself,
Or maybe this is something you're coming back to for the moment.
Trying your best to just drop whatever came before or whatever may come next and landing in your breath.
Noticing the natural rhythm of your breathing.
Breathing into any areas of your body that are calling out to you to release the tension.
This could be a part of your physical body that's holding tension and scanning to create space between your eyebrows.
Unclenching the jaw,
Maybe even spreading your fingers to loosen a grip you didn't know you were holding.
And now scanning your emotional body.
Are there any spaces within you where you're holding on to something that can be put down even if just for now?
Sometimes this can feel like tightness or heat in your throat.
Or maybe a tightness in your chest.
Sometimes even butterflies in your stomach.
Simply breathing into these spaces.
You may find your thoughts working to grab your attention and that's okay.
Try to release the attachment to what they may or may not mean,
Or which ones to hold on to in which to let go of.
And try simply just letting go of them all for now,
Almost as if you're watching them pass as a cloud that eventually dissolves and continually coming back to the breath.
Letting this be a time to allow rather than identifying problems to solve.
Just breathing.
I recently saw the movie Dune and there was a quote that really stuck out to me.
One of the characters said,
The mystery of life isn't a problem to solve,
But a reality to experience a process that cannot be understood by stopping it.
We must move with the flow of the process.
We must join it.
So often we shift into mindsets of control and urgency.
For me,
It can sometimes feel like this constant calculation of where to go next,
Questioning if I'm doing something right or good enough.
Making sure I'm on track,
Whatever that might mean.
And while we may be doing this to help ourselves feel safer,
Or maybe more prepared in our lives.
There's beauty to be found in loosening the grip,
Going with the flow and see what presents when living a life in presence.
So I invite you to reflect on the following questions.
I would rather surrender to join my life,
Rather than control it.
Where can I experience my life rather than solve it?
What does it feel like to live in flow?
This may be in the work that you do,
Relationships in your life,
Or maybe just how you spend your free time.
Continuing to use your breath as an anchor.
Taking a couple more breaths at your natural pace.
Remembering maybe the next time you find yourself in those tight moments to simply loosen the grip,
Even just a little to see what can unfold.
Getting ready now to awaken back to the room,
Slowly moving your body,
Wiggling your fingers,
Maybe even giving a soft smile.
And when you're ready,
You can open your eyes.
