Welcome to today's guided meditation practice.

Today's practice is a journey through your seven chakras.

In Sanskrit the word chakra quite literally means disc or wheel and the seven chakras refer to the seven energy centers or primary energy centers which reside within our bodies.

These wheels or discs comprise of energy each corresponding to certain nerve bundles and major organs within our system.

To function at their best our chakras need to stay open or balanced and throughout the course of life as we encounter stresses or illness or different emotional states different aspects of our chakra system can either become under or overactive and as a result can lead us to have hyper or hypovigilant states and physiological symptoms relating to the imbalance of that chakra system.

The invitation today is to simply allow our breath to guide us through our seven chakras with the hope of bringing greater clarity and balance to each point.

Before we get started find yourself in a comfortable seated position if you aren't already doing so.

Close the eyes down if it feels safe and ensure that your spine is upright and tall.

The seven chakras reside along the length of our spine so we want to ensure that we are sitting up tall with the crown of our head reaching towards the sky.

Roll your shoulders back and down to release any tension in your neck.

Allow your arms to rest heavy on or in your lap.

And just tuck your chin slightly in towards your chest to elongate the back of your neck.

Bring your attention to your breath and if you notice that your breath is slow or too sharp or too fast or if you're holding your breath just see if you can even it out allowing your inhale to be the same length as your exhale breathing in a balanced way through your nostrils.

Once your breath feels balanced and rhythmic I want you to visualize a clear bright light a ball of energy which is just hovering above the crown of your head.

This light represents purity cleanliness clarity and balance.

It feels clean and fresh and light.

We're going to allow this beam or channel of energy to enter our body through the crown just feeling its warmth and its nourishment as it travels from the crown of your head and nestles at the base of your spine.

As it finds its way here you notice that it starts to change color.

What was clear is now red as it finds itself at your root chakra otherwise known as muladhara.

This chakra point literally represents your roots,

Your sense of safety,

Connection,

Support.

Breathe into this space and allow the red energy,

The red color,

The red light to glow brightly.

Allow it to travel down your legs,

Your thighs,

Your knees,

Your shins and calves all the way to the tips of your toes and even allow this energy to seep out of your base quite like roots of a tree plugging into the earth beneath it.

This chakra point is associated with the words I am and it brings about our sense of internalized support.

It is our foundation,

The place from which we grow.

Feel the earth beneath you supporting your existence and your being unconditionally.

Really breathing in awareness of a sense of groundedness and stability which is always available to you.

Take a few more breaths here and when you're ready move your attention to your lower abdomen just below your navel.

Here we enter svadhisthana,

Svadhisthana,

Your sacral chakra associated with the words I feel.

The color red beautifully shifts into a bright orange as the light and the energy ripples across and within the chakra point which governs creative expression,

Emotion,

Pleasure,

Intimacy and sensuality.

Breathe into this space and just notice if there are any blockages,

Any feelings of stagnant energy,

Stagnant blood flow around your reproductive organs.

If there are any emotions that are sitting here that are yet to be expressed,

Anything which feels stuck or heavy.

Allow the breath to guide the energy,

To guide the light and just breathe in awareness until this space feels clear,

Open,

Balanced and expressive.

Allowing you to have a greater connection to your emotions and your sense of creativity.

Now you notice two colors,

The red and the orange and you notice how the energy in these two centers feels clear and balanced and the discs are spinning as they should.

As we move up that color orange changes to yellow.

We rest between your chest and your navel and we find ourselves in the solar plexus chakra point otherwise known as manipura and associated with the words I do.

This is our power center,

Our sense of confidence,

Self-esteem,

Worthiness and courage.

Breathe into this space and feel the transformational heat and energy which comes with the intensity and the brightness of the color yellow.

Bathing this chakra point like bright sunshine,

Replenishing and nurturing it like the sun nourishes all life on our planet.

Feel your personal power here getting stronger,

The power to serve,

To help and to nurture other beings and yourself.

Notice where there may be feelings of low self-esteem or lack of self-worth,

Of staying small or hiding in the shadows and allow this energy center to clear those thoughts and those unnecessary beliefs allowing you to stand tall with confidence,

Stand tall with courage and to really find strength in all that you are and all that you do.

Rest in awareness here and visualize now the three colors,

The red,

The orange and the yellow as these three energy centers spin in harmony,

Balance and openness.

As we move up,

Up we enter the space of the heart,

The anahata chakra associated with the words I love.

The bright yellow color shifts into green like the green leaves or the fresh green grass on a spring day.

Notice the lightness,

The freshness,

The new life that this color is associated with.

It is pure love,

Pure compassion,

Pure empathy.

Pure empathy,

It is our natural state of being.

Notice your own heart,

Notice its location near your lungs as this chakra point is also associated with our lungs and with the quality of our breath.

Allow the color green and the feelings of pure love to fill this space with every inhale and exhale.

As you breathe in,

Allow the green energy,

The green light to actually travel all the way to the tips of your fingers recognizing that our love is expressed through the giving and receiving of open arms.

With every exhale,

Allow any walls that you've built around this space,

Insecurities that you may have,

Feelings of heartache or loss or sadness to be released,

Allowing that heart to find its natural way of being.

Stay here as long as you need until the heart space feels open and clear and balanced.

And as you rest in awareness,

You now notice four colors,

Red,

Orange,

Yellow and green.

We move up again and enter Vishuddha,

The throat chakra.

Associated with the words I speak,

This chakra point is associated with self-expression,

Your personal truth,

Your ability to communicate and manifest.

Notice if there are any blockages here,

Any feelings of constriction or tightness or inability for you to express yourself.

Use your inhale and exhale to allow the color blue to encase your entire throat,

Bringing a sense of coolness and ease and release to this area of your body,

Allowing yourself to speak easy,

To honor your truth and to communicate with compassion.

Know that your voice matters.

Allow each and every breath to nurture this space.

And when you're ready,

Resting in awareness,

Now visualizing the five profound colors of your chakras,

Red,

Orange,

Yellow,

Green and a beautiful bright sky blue.

We move up once more and we notice that the color now starts to change again and becomes a deep indigo.

The energy center rests in between your eyebrows to your third eye chakra,

Your Ajna,

Associated with the words I see.

This chakra point has to do with your connection to your intuition,

Your perspective,

Your ability to have objective thought and to see multiple truths at the same time.

It is a space which brings you clarity and connection to your authentic self,

Your wiser self,

Your higher self.

Rest in awareness here,

Bringing your breath to your third eye and just notice if there are any blockages or feelings of disconnection from your intuition,

Any sensations of lack of trust with self and allow every breath in and every breath out to forge a bridge between you and your intuition,

To start to rebuild that trust,

To heighten your sense of decisiveness and your ability to see what is real and what is not.

And what is not.

Resting in awareness again and noticing now the six colors,

Starting from the base,

The red,

The orange,

The yellow,

The green,

The bright blue and the indigo.

All spinning in balance and clarity and openness,

Sending clear,

Pure energy throughout the centers of your body.

On your next inhale,

We rise up once more to the seventh and final chakra point,

Your crown chakra,

Sahasrara,

Associated with the words I understand.

The crown of the head is is the access point to the veil which separates us from the universe and is our connection point to spirituality,

To faith,

To connection with that which we cannot see but which we all feel.

Notice if this space feels blocked or closed,

Unwilling to have faith,

Resistant to the unknown.

The color changes here from indigo to a light,

Even whitish purple.

Allow the sensations here to feel light and elevated,

Almost like there is an energy that is pulling out of the crown of your head,

Connecting to the universe,

To that which you can't see,

To that which you can feel,

To the moments that you experience in your life that you can't explain but that you know are there nonetheless.

Allow yourself to have faith,

To have hope,

To believe and to be connected.

And as you breathe in,

Almost imagine this chakra point opening like a lotus,

Allowing the goodness and the energy of everything around us to enter through.

And rest in awareness now just visualizing these seven chakra points,

The seven colors of red,

Orange,

Yellow,

Green,

Bright blue,

Indigo,

Purple and white.

Notice the same beam of light,

The clear light that was hovering above your head.

Notice it there once more,

This beautiful channel of pure energy that has helped you to clear and clean and purify and balance your chakra points.

And maybe you want to take three deep breaths here,

Just allowing that energy source to flow up and down your spine,

Noticing how it travels now with ease through each chakra point.

When you're ready,

Releasing it from the crown of the head and just sitting in awareness of your body and how balanced you now feel,

Your organs,

Your nervous system,

Your breath,

Your circulation,

Your spirit,

Your emotion,

Your sense of safety.

Spend as long as you need to integrate and whenever you feel ready,

Maybe you'd like to rub the palms of your hands together,

Just generating some heat and bringing your attention back to the present moment,

To the sensations of the here and now.

Placing palms over your eyes and just basking in the warmth of your hands.

When you feel ready,

You can open your eyes into the palms of your hands and then gently remove your hands,

Bringing yourself back to present.

Our meditation practice is now complete.

Thank you for joining me today.
