Hello and welcome to day four of your Self-Reiki challenge.

Today's Self-Reiki will be focused on the Earth Key.

About three inches below the navel is a symbolic energy center called the Earth Key or the Hara.

It is imperative that a solid energetic base exists for all of us and to understand its importance,

Imagine the human body like an energetic triangle with its base of the triangle playing the supporting role.

The Hara here contains one's original energy.

Original energy is the key that you're born into this world with.

It's not a stagnant energy but something that can be built upon to create a necessary solid foundation.

The translation of Hara is simply belly.

Yet there's so much more to this intriguing word.

At a deeper level the word Hara means one's truest nature.

So it's not just a physical center in the body but it's the center of our true nature that we can reconnect to.

Right now in the world there's so much information coming in from social media and television,

Radio,

Conversations with friends and family about this impending danger of coronavirus and all of its implications.

The truth is that so much of it is unknown.

These voices are coming through these channels weighing in their expert opinions but we don't really know.

And maybe it's a matter of just accepting that we don't really know right now the true effects that it will have.

And it's through this earth key and this grounding practice that we can at least become stable for whatever is to come.

We can feel supported and grounded and safe.

When our earth key is out of balance we might feel fatigued,

Irritable,

Emotional,

Have difficulty settling down or making decisions with clarity.

And so this balanced earth key gives us a stable energetic core in order to function optimally and live with purpose.

This is the function of the hara to offer a practitioner the foundation from which to develop this key.

Remember key is a word synonymous with chi,

Prana,

Energy,

Mana.

The key that emanates from the earth is heavy,

It's dense,

It's powerful and it's grounding.

This grounding force offers both physical and mental strength.

The term grounding generally indicates that a practitioner interacts in a realistic and practical manner with all of life.

To be grounded is to feel strong,

Secure,

Safe as well as physically connected to the environment that you are a part of.

This time go ahead and find your way into a comfortable seat.

Get in contact with the earth beneath you through your sitz bones or your shins,

However you're sitting on the earth right now.

Get in contact with your inner presence,

This quiet behind the noise of your life,

The chitter chatter of your life,

Of your mind,

The busyness.

And allow each breath you take for the next few rounds to take you deeper into your body.

Begin to notice the movement of the low abdomen as you breathe,

The expansion there,

The contraction there and start to enhance that a bit.

Exaggerating a little bit the filling sensation as you inhale and exaggerating that little squeeze at the bottom of the exhale where you draw the area below your navel back towards the spine.

Connecting to this area of the Hara two inches below the navel helps us to deal with emotions such as fear,

Uncertainty,

Stress.

Solid grounding work with earth key minimizes the possibility of cracks appearing in the foundation during later stages of life.

One of the most effective tools we start with is the breath.

We can work directly with our earth energy using our breath,

Focusing on our breath.

Simply placing your awareness on the space of the Hara as you breathe here.

Breathing into the Hara turns our breath into a tool.

We breathe deeply into the center,

Two inches below the navel and back in the middle of the torso.

Breathing like this can work like an anchor,

Like an anchor works for a ship connecting us to earth.

We become like a tree growing roots,

Growing stronger and stronger so they can support the canopy of leaves and branches above.

The stronger our earth energy roots grow,

The more we can develop the other parts of our energy system.

Our heaven key,

Oneness.

This foundation supports our practice and we can use it as a kind of spiritual lighthouse that guides us back to ourself just like a ship finding its way back to its port.

Before we move any further,

Bring your palms together in front of your heart for a gassho meditation.

Repeat after me.

Just for today,

I will not be angry.

Just for today,

I will not worry.

Just for today,

I will do my work honestly.

Just for today,

I will be grateful.

Just for today,

I will be kind to myself and all beings.

Keep your palms here,

Breathing still into that hara.

My cells feel alive and vibrant.

The very air around me vibrates.

I radiate and I am radiant.

There is no place for anger and there is no place for fear.

I am alive and present on this earth.

Begin to rub your palms together vigorously,

Creating some friction and heat between your hands.

And as you feel ready to,

Bring your hands to your hara.

Again,

Two inches below the belly button.

You can place both hands on the front of your body.

You can stack your hands or line them up.

You could place one hand on the front and even one hand on the back,

Whatever resonates with you.

Sit up with a tall spine and feel the breath happening here,

Elbows relaxed as you breathe into your hara.

The spine holding the body up,

Noticing the flow of your breath,

The sensation of your palms on your body.

Visualization can be key here in the beginning,

Especially for new practitioners.

So imagine a ball of light at the hara and it can start small,

Maybe two inches below the belly button and in the center of the abdomen glowing just suddenly.

Feel the warmth of your hands.

Imagine light energy pouring forth from your palm chakras,

Knowing that as practitioners,

All we have to do is place the hands.

There's no other tricks needed in order to start the flow of reiki.

Trusting your practice,

Visualizing this ball of light.

Feel where your legs or your seat are connected to the earth beneath you.

The next time that you inhale,

Feel like you're dropping your awareness further down into the body.

As you exhale,

Dropping like roots of a tree down into the earth.

And as you inhale,

Visualize connecting to this earth energy and drawing it back up into your being,

Into your hara,

Into your earth key.

Each exhale dropping like an anchor.

Dropping your awareness into these nurturing energies of the earth beneath you and inhaling like you're drawing that energy back up like a straw into your earth key,

Your hara.

With each breath,

Your hara glowing brighter and brighter with this luminescent energy.

As far back as we know,

The earth's electromagnetic field has been protecting all living things with its natural frequency pulsation of 7.

83 hertz.

And you can think of this like earth's heartbeat.

The ancient Indian rishis often referred to this as om or the incarnation of pure sound.

Whether or not by coincidence,

The frequency of 7.

83 hertz also happens to be a very powerful frequency used with brain wave entrainment.

This frequency has also been associated with high levels of hypnosis success,

Suggestibility,

Meditation,

Increased HGH,

Which is human growth hormone levels,

In addition to increased cerebral blood flow levels.

While this frequency is being stimulated or attracted.

It would seem then that our nervous system can be influenced by the earth's electromagnetic field.

And maybe that's why being in nature has always been so restorative and so healing for us.

Disconnecting from a typical city setting by reducing our exposure to all the crowds and the traffic and the work and instead getting out into natural surroundings.

Continue to imagine stretching your roots down into the earth.

And like your roots were drawing water up from the earth like a tree would do with each inhale.

Feeling with your breath that glow of your hara getting brighter and brighter.

Letting this energy spread now through the body.

Letting this earth energy radiate within you and around you all as one.

Because we are all made of the same substance as the stars,

As the planets,

As the water,

As the earth.

The heartbeat is a symbol of life.

Like the beat of a drum,

Awakening our consciousness and making us realize this oneness.

Mother earth is alive.

She is living,

She is evolving.

She is willing to suffer for us and she shows us where she's being taken care of as well as where she needs help.

She has symptoms of her health too.

She houses all of life on her back and her spirit is within all living entities.

Recognizing this is how we establish a true and authentic connection with our world and with the world that exists within us.

Connect this pulsation of your hara building in strength,

Power,

The rhythm of your breathing,

The beat of your heart.

Enhancing in these moments as your palms radiate this light force energy into your hara.

You are not only drawing this energy up from the earth but drawing this energy in from the heavens,

From the cosmos.

Building the hara energy,

The earth key in your own body.

Building upon your own stability,

Your own strength.

Building upon the solid foundation so that no matter where you go and what you experience,

You are steadfast.

You are anchored.

You are rooted.

The final moments of our practice,

I want you to feel the energy in your legs,

Your knees,

Your shins,

Your feet,

Through the soles of your feet.

Further rooting down,

Connecting the hara to the root chakra.

See in your mind's eye the energy from your hara,

The energy from your hands flowing downward through your legs.

The muscles of the legs,

The bones,

The connective tissues,

The nadis and energetic pathways and meridians all lighting up into a beautiful glow.

Symbolizing this pure flowing energy,

Eliminating imbalance and stagnancy.

Imbalance cannot withstand this light.

In this moment you are rooted.

In this moment you are grounded.

In this moment you are successful at bringing this healing power to your own body,

Mind and spirit.

Bring the palms now back to the heart center.

At gaso,

Hand centered at the heart,

Take a soft bow.

Thinking the reiki energy,

Thinking this practice and repeating the following to yourself.

Teach me how to trust my heart,

My mind,

My intuition,

My inner knowing,

The senses of my body,

The blessings of my spirit.

Teach me to trust these things so that I may enter my sacred space and love beyond my fear and thus walk in balance with the passing of each glorious sun.

Thank you for practicing today.

May you be grounded and whole.

Namaste.
