Take yourself away to a beautiful relaxing rainforest where you can lie in your hammock and listen to the peaceful, rhythmical sounds of the rain (with light thunder). This sleep talk-down is the ideal guided practice if you have trouble with insomnia or just want to relax to a peaceful night's sleep. We hope it helps.

This is a sleep talk down guided meditation to help you relax and drift off into a wonderful night's sleep.

People find that sometimes they go to sleep easily,

But at other times they find they just cannot shut down their mind.

They may even wake up during the night.

Your mind is very powerful and sometimes it can be hard to close it down for rest.

Some people like imagining drifting around in a boat or maybe lying in the shade on a warm sunny day.

Sometimes passing silently and just relaxing and drifting can be so pleasant and peaceful.

When you are relaxed time doesn't matter.

It just floats by in a dreamy way and sometimes you don't know when you are asleep and when you are just dreaming of sleeping.

So let us help you now to find that sleep that you seek.

So settle back in your own comfy bed.

Lie in the sleeping position you like best and close your eyes.

Now take a deep breath and hold it and now just let it all go as you exhale.

That's good.

Releasing all tension as you exhale.

When you are ready take another deep breath and slowly and gently breathe out feeling relaxed.

Again deep breath in and slowly and gently breathe out feeling very peaceful and comfortable.

Deep breath in lifting your arms slightly and tensing them up and as you breathe out let them slump down and relax.

Letting go of all muscle tension.

Now lift your arms slightly tense them up and on the next breath out let them drop back naturally and relax your whole body.

Letting go of all muscle tension.

Now do the same with your legs.

Deep breath in raising your legs slightly and tensing them up and as you breathe out let them slump back down and relax.

One more time deep breath in raising your legs slightly tensing them up and as you breathe out let them slump back down and relax.

Letting go of all muscle tension.

As you lie there bringing your breathing back to its normal rhythm you find that your arms and your legs have become heavier now.

So heavy that you are finding it difficult to move them and they feel as if they are made of lead but that's okay because you don't need to move them at all right now.

Just allow that heaviness to grow.

Feel the heaviness start to work its way through your whole body.

Can you feel it?

It's like a wave of peace traveling all through your body.

Through your arms and legs so peaceful.

Through your torso so relaxing.

Up into your neck taking away all tension and stiffness from the muscles.

Up the back of your head and down through the face so calm.

Can you feel it?

That wonderful sensation of peace.

You are finding that your body is becoming so heavy now.

So relaxed,

So peaceful and calm.

Your legs and your arms can't move now but you feel comfortable,

Warm and safe.

The whole of your body is so heavy now,

So peaceful,

So relaxed,

So very very relaxed.

Now you are going to focus on your breathing.

Just become aware of the gentle rhythm of your breathing.

Feel your chest as it slowly rises and falls.

The in and the out of your breath.

Just think about it.

Just feel it as it rises slowly and falls gently.

As you think about your breathing with each breath out just allow your body to relax even more.

With each breath out say to yourself in your mind my whole body is relaxed.

And with each breath in say to yourself in your mind calm and at ease.

Continue breathing gently in and out.

And allow the natural pattern of the breathing to take over.

Breathing in think calm and at ease.

Breathing out think my whole body is relaxed.

And continue now.

Breathing gently,

Breathing in,

Breathing out.

Breathing in and breathing out.

Breathing in and breathing out.

Enjoying the feelings.

Letting go.

Your mind will drift here and there and that's okay.

And if any day to day thoughts come into your mind you can just place them in a corner somewhere.

They're not important right now.

Just allow the breathing to continue.

Calm and at ease.

Relaxing it all.

Your body is relaxed and resting now.

So peaceful.

So calm.

Now I want you to imagine that you are in a beautiful lush green rainforest.

A place where only you can go.

And you find yourself standing deep in the forest.

And you realize it is late in the evening.

You notice that the sun has already set and has disappeared beyond the trees.

The night sky is dark and you look up and see that the stars have come out.

And you notice that the moon is shining brightly high up in the sky.

Lighting your way forward.

So you begin your walk to your cabin in the forest.

And as you walk you see glints of light darting in and out behind the trees.

Some much bigger than others but you pay this no mind and continue on your way.

Your cabin is just ahead of you now.

All made of wood.

A log cabin.

Can you see it?

You step onto the porch of your cabin and decide that you will have a lie down on your hammock and watch the stars and listen to the sounds of the forest for just a while.

As you lie on your hammock you hear rumbling in the distance.

And you notice it has started to rain gently.

And you can hear it as it runs down the roof of your porch.

And there is something very comforting about listening and watching the rhythm of the raindrops as they dance around you without them touching your skin.

You can hear the sounds of the birds as they look for somewhere to roost for the night.

Can you hear them?

Can you hear the rain?

You see that the rain has started to come down harder now and the rumbling has gotten louder.

You swing slowly from side to side in your comfortable hammock with your head resting gently on a wonderful soft cushion.

And you feel very comfortable and warm.

You feel very safe.

You can smell the freshness of the forest being washed by the rain.

And you can hear the sounds of the night.

An owl calling to its mate.

The gentle hum of crickets.

Twigs being broken and stepped upon by the animals of the night.

And this comforts you.

It makes you feel quite safe and relaxed,

Calm and peaceful.

The sounds of the rain are becoming louder now.

And you realise that a storm is approaching and that rumbling you heard that was thunder.

You hear a crack of lightning in the darkened skies and just for a moment it becomes bright as the lightning flashes by.

As you lie in your hammock you are feeling sleepy but you want to watch the storm.

And you sway gently from side to side in your hammock all the time feeling peaceful and calm.

And you are feeling drowsy now but still you want to watch and listen to the storm.

Can you hear the thunder in the distance?

Can you see the lightning as it flashes?

You know the storm is on the far side of your forest and that it is not going to come any closer to you but still you listen to it.

Can you hear it?

Can you feel it?

Can you sense it?

You are enjoying the sounds the storm makes.

The sound of the rain feels as if it is washing over you,

Cleansing you in a way and in a way it is.

Now we are going to begin to count down to your blissful sleep.

So I want you to listen to my voice as I start to count from 10 to 1.

10 Your eyes are starting to close and your body is feeling very heavy now.

9 You feel yourself sinking into your hammock,

Wonderfully supported as if you are lying on a fleecy cloud.

8 You are feeling so very sleepy,

Warm and comfy,

So tired.

7 You feel very relaxed and very calm.

6 You begin to drift deeper and deeper.

5 All the time you still hear the sound of the rain.

It is like a child's lullaby to you,

Singing you off to sleep.

4 Your body is resting now,

So peaceful,

So calm and so very,

Very relaxed.

3 You are going deeper and deeper into sleep.

You cannot open your eyes now.

2 Your body is already asleep.

1 Your mind has now followed your body into sleep,

So rest now.

2 A good,

Peaceful night's rest and when you wake in the morning you will feel so refreshed and renewed,

So alive.

3 But for now,

Listen to the rain and just rest.

4 You are going deeper and deeper into sleep.

5 All the time you still hear the sound of the rain.

It is like a child's lullaby to you,

Singing you off to sleep.

6 You begin to drift deeper and deeper into sleep.

7 You are going deeper and deeper into sleep.

8 You are going deeper and deeper into sleep.

9 You begin to drift deeper and deeper into sleep.

10 You begin to drift deeper and deeper into sleep.

11 You begin to drift deeper and deeper into sleep.

12 You begin to drift deeper and deeper into sleep.

13 You begin to drift deeper and deeper into sleep.

14 You begin to drift deeper and deeper into sleep.

15 You begin to drift deeper and deeper into sleep.

16 You begin to drift deeper and deeper into sleep.

17 You begin to drift deeper and deeper into sleep.

18 You begin to drift deeper and deeper into sleep.
