This evening meditation uses compassion to help you process your day with kindness. Rather than judging or analyzing your experiences, you're invited to meet yourself with gentle curiosity—asking what you carried, what you needed, and what you're truly feeling beneath the surface.

Hello and welcome to this compassionate meditation.

My name is Neela Steele and I'm happy to be here with you now.

Let's get started.

Go ahead and find a comfortable position.

If it feels safe for you,

Go ahead and close your eyes or soften your gaze downward.

Allow and permit a deep and spacious breath right here.

Receive the next inhale and let go of the next exhale.

Receive the inhale and let go of the exhale.

As you check in with the body,

Where can you feel your body in contact with something solid?

Remember there's nowhere to go or nothing to fix right now.

As you rest here,

Gently bring your awareness to the day that has passed.

We're not analyzing or judging,

But simply acknowledging it.

What does it feel like in your body right now?

And as we repeat the question and ask again,

What does it feel like in your body right now?

Does the answer shift?

Is there a little more time to acknowledge something in the body?

Perhaps there's fatigue,

Tension,

Ease,

Or something else entirely.

With curiosity,

Ask yourself what am I carrying from today?

What am I carrying from today?

Remember you don't need to answer immediately.

Just let the question float here like a gentle invitation.

And I'm curious,

What arises for you right now?

Perhaps sensations,

Any emotions,

Impulses,

Or thoughts.

Know that whatever comes,

It's welcome here.

Now,

With that same gentle curiosity,

Can we explore a little deeper?

Ask yourself softly,

What did I need today that I didn't receive?

What did I need today that I didn't receive?

Breathe and listen.

Perhaps it was rest,

Or understanding,

Or solitude.

Maybe it was connection.

Know that there is no right or better answer.

One more question.

What am I feeling beneath the surface?

What am I feeling beneath the surface?

Perhaps beneath the busyness,

The doing,

The different roles you play,

What's really here.

Sadness,

Loneliness,

Joy,

Fear,

Or love.

Whatever you discover,

Meet it with compassion.

The invitation now is to place a hand over your heart if you'd like.

Begin to feel the connection with the palm over the heart.

Perhaps some sensations of movement,

As you allow and permit another beautiful breath in,

And a release with the exhale.

You might also silently repeat to yourself that it's okay.

It's okay to feel what I feel right now.

As we come to close,

Imagine that you can set down whatever feels heavy.

Not forever,

But just for now.

And let the day begin to release from your shoulders,

Your jaw,

Your belly,

And your back.

Take another breath in,

And releasing the exhale.

Remember,

You don't have to have it all figured out.

You are allowed to be exactly as you are.

Another moment in time,

Allowing the breath to be received and to be released.

You can slowly begin to open the eyes if they were closed,

Slowly altering your gaze.

Remember to carry this compassion into your evening,

Knowing that you can return to this practice whenever you need it.

One more invitation to take that breath as you wish.

Thank you for your precious time and energy.
