Greetings.

I'm glad you're here.

I'm astrologer Natha Perkins.

This is a Mercury in Retrograde meditation.

Feel free to listen to this anytime that Mercury is in retrograde,

Or whenever you are struggling with your thoughts and your busy mind.

Begin by closing your eyes and taking some deep breaths into the center of your body.

You spend an extraordinary amount of time in your head thinking,

And that is the nature of Mercury.

Mercury is the messenger bringing us the information that we need in order to thrive,

In order to live,

In order to be interested and engaged.

We need Mercury,

And we need our minds,

However,

The mind can be very exhausting.

Bring your attention out of your mind for now,

Down into your body.

Imagine a spot that is 3 finger widths behind your belly button,

In the center of your core.

Bring the breath to that place,

And imagine your nervous system receiving the breath as if it is fresh air,

Or the winds of change.

You might find that your mind wanders during this meditation,

And that is the very nature of the mind,

But all you have to do is bring your attention back to that spot 3 finger widths behind your belly button.

As you are breathing,

Notice what is happening in your physical body,

And whether you need to make adjustments to become more comfortable.

Remember as I'm talking to continue to bring your attention and your focus back to your breath,

And back to that spot in your core.

This will help keep you grounded,

And it will help to show you how often your mind carries you up and out of reality,

Into a problem,

Or into some sort of worry that needs to be attended to.

But for right now,

There is nothing more to attend to than your breath,

And continuing to bring your attention back to your breath,

Back to your body.

Mercury is a fast moving planet,

And it travels round and round,

Bringing you insight,

Information,

And many things to think about.

Mercury also rules the style of your communication,

And to some extent,

Your perception of how communication flows or does not flow for you.

Mercury rules your perception of any given moment,

Whether you like it,

You hate it,

You're stressed out by it,

Or you are relaxed in it.

Every moment is colored by your perception,

The way that your mind intakes the information and casts a judgment about it.

Bring your attention back to your breath.

Mercury moves very quickly through the sky,

But three times a year or so,

It must slow down,

Appear to come to a stop,

And then reverse its tracks.

This can feel frustrating to a mind that wants to move,

To a perception that just wants to keep the story going.

The Mercury in retrograde is a powerful time to go back and assess how far you've come,

And how things have been going.

The mind can cause a substantial amount of stress,

Worrying,

Wanting,

And wondering.

In fact,

Those three things,

Worrying,

Wanting,

And wondering,

Can throw you off track faster than just about anything else.

Bring your breath back into your body,

And get a sense of how those three words impact you,

Worrying,

Wanting,

And wondering.

As Mercury goes backward,

It asks you to look at your perception of how things are going,

How you are responding to life,

How your communication systems are functioning,

And how much power your mind has over your experience.

Bring your attention back to your physical body,

To the point in your core,

And watch how easily your mind slips away into a fresh set of questions,

A brand new item for your to-do list,

Or into a sensation of boredom.

Know that when you can master your mind,

You have the ultimate power.

You become the one that is in charge of your nervous system,

And how thoughts in particular impact you.

Mercury Retrograde can teach you how to gain more control over your thoughts,

How to slow them down,

How to temporarily turn them off,

Or at least turn the volume down.

The planet Mercury rules the sign of Gemini.

With the sign of Gemini,

We are learning how to be in the present moment.

Present moment practices will bring you very quickly into what is here right now,

And can easily slow down your mind while you bask in the sweet,

Relaxing field of awareness that is the present moment.

Bring your attention back to your breath,

And bring your breath into the core of your body.

Mercury rules the sign of Virgo,

Which is connected to the nervous system.

When you are slowing down your thoughts and bringing yourself into the present moment,

This is soothing to the nervous system.

There are no problems to solve in the present moment.

There's no room for worrying,

Wanting,

And wondering.

There's simply right here,

Right now.

Bring your breath into your body,

And into your core.

Open your body and notice what is happening.

What are you feeling?

What is the temperature of the air on your skin?

Is there a breeze?

What do you smell?

Be here in the present moment,

And enjoy it.

As Mercury is slowing down and moving backward,

You have an opportunity to listen to yourself in new ways,

To establish new patterns.

To calm your thoughts,

So that you can soothe your nervous system.

Take a deep breath,

And bring that breath into your core,

And be here with your body,

Your higher self,

Your inner child,

Your emotions,

And a sense of peace and tranquility.
