Balanced Business 7: Mindful Recreation
The final episode of the Balanced Business series sees our creative energy coming full circle: rise, fall, and rise again. How do we rest and recover our inspiration for another round in this wheel of creation? This is re-creating... Creating again. Creating anew.
Transcript
Welcome to this final episode on balanced business.
It's been a journey of several layers,
Starting from the very vision and the seed of your business towards your energy balancing and your relationships with your team and the outside world and now we are at chapter 7 on mindful recreation.
After committing and contributing your efforts into the sacred undertaking of your conscious business,
You deserve a good rest and we've covered this topic a little bit in episode 4 on balancing the energies of your business through the wheel model and transcending the fear and sadness of letting go of your business growth to let yourself die a little bit in the wizard stage and be reborn in the child stage again.
But the recreation and rest is so important that I've decided to dedicate a full episode on this and give you practices that I have found most beneficial to restore my energy on the daily,
Monthly and yearly basis.
First of all,
The thing that I found beneficial even before I started my journey in the world of mindfulness is observing a Sunday of disconnection from work.
When you are an entrepreneur you can lose the boundaries between your work time and your personal time and you often find yourself writing work emails at 10 in the evening or waking up at 6 in the morning with a fresh new idea and running straight towards your computer to write something down.
But it is imperative that every week you have time set aside to just be you,
Not your business.
You need to disconnect from all the messengers,
All the informational flow and with time if you get an idea you will learn to entrust it to some task managers to just quickly write it down and forget about it until the time when you tune back into your business maybe on Monday morning and you can just take it and work with it.
But for the first time,
Especially if you feel that you are overwhelmed and you are always working,
I recommend not even writing down ideas.
I recommend a full day of rest and if anything,
Any thought on business comes to you,
Treat it as a whole day meditation and just ignore this thought.
Let it be there but concentrate on something else,
Whatever you are doing that day,
Cleaning the house,
Hanging out with friends,
Really meditating,
Doing some physical activity,
Whatever,
But don't take up even a pen and paper and let yourself be completely disconnected because you may have already developed an addiction.
That workaholism is not a joke.
You can really develop this chemical addiction to the hormones,
To the substances that you create in your brain when you have a new idea for your business,
When you have a new flow of inspiration.
So you need to break this cycle.
That's why I have started creating a boundary of my Sunday.
That is a day when I do not work and I've maintained it for many years until at some point I felt connected with my energy flow enough to let go of this structure and switch to some other structures that are helpful.
For example,
I am recording this episode now on a Sunday but this is because I have just gone through some monthly recreation and it has given me so much energy that I'm really flowing and I know and I can predict when this flow of energy will go down again and this is why I can shape my recreation around my monthly cycle which is not probably attainable to everyone.
This really depends on your relationship with your moon cycle and your biology if you have it at all.
So this is not for everyone.
This is why I'm not focusing the episode around this but you can choose some other practices that you can do every month.
It can be connected with goal-setting.
To be honest when I said monthly in the beginning of the episode I didn't really mean monthly.
I meant more like weekly and quarterly.
So it was an average between the two because I don't have any specific practice that I can share that I do every month but I do have practices that I do every quarter.
So in the beginning of the year I tend to write down goals and intentions and then I tend to go back to them every quarter and I attune it to the change of seasons to solstices and equinoxes and this is a very beneficial time to revisit your intentions.
But the thing is that these seasons of the year are also connected with great festivities and these are festivities of ancient origin,
The time when you reconnect with the mystery of the spiritual world and in these times I try to maintain a ritual of celebration.
It doesn't have to be of any specific tradition but it is a really good thing to give yourself a festivity at some points in time because a festivity is a different form of recreation than just resting.
Festivity is being immersed into this joy of life and this is like taking an intense and strong shower or diving into the wavy sea.
It gets all of your stagnant energy cleared away because you're bathing in this abundant flow that everyone around is creating and this is very beneficial for recovering your own energy.
And other recreational practices are of course daily practices.
This is maybe a morning and or an evening ritual,
A routine that you may develop,
Some meditation,
Affirmation,
Journaling,
Physical movement like yoga or anything that you do.
It can be jogging,
It can be walking on foot to your work if this is accessible or cycling there.
So any form of physical activity is a really good thing to include into your daily practices and some of us may come across this setback of energy somewhere in the middle of the working day.
If we work with computers then somewhere after lunch we tend to really have this drop of energy.
And then some breathing practices like breath of fire can help.
Just research a bit how to do it correctly,
Don't do it right after eating.
In fact you can do some breathing practices even instead of your coffee.
You can compensate some coffee intake by pranayama.
And this recreates your energy which is all the point of recreation.
That you have used some of the creative power,
It is low and you need to recreate yourself a little bit because you have spread yourself thin,
You have allowed yourself to diminish and you need to stop and let life fill you up.
This is really simple.
Sometimes we fall into the trap of trying to consume and move around as much as possible when we feel low and empty.
And we can develop unhealthy habits of compensating for this feeling of emptiness with food or visual content.
But the truth is that you're just empty because you've been running faster,
You've been pouring out of your cup faster than life is already naturally pouring into it.
And this means that you need to really stop doing things for some time.
You just need to stop,
To slow down.
And this is what recreates you the most.
And it can be even taking a cup of tea mindfully without sitting with your phone and just smelling it,
Absorbing the smoke coming out of it,
The steam and savoring each sip and trying to concentrate only on the tea,
Not on your thoughts.
Such meditation.
You need to slow down the thoughts,
The information because this is dragging this energy out of you.
You are always trying to keep up with it and you cannot.
You need to stop,
You need to slow down.
Otherwise you will not allow life energy to be refilled,
You will not be recreated,
You will just be refueled.
And there is a difference when you input fuel into yourself like food and content.
This is very different from running on the true source energy.
And just know this,
Don't push yourself too hard,
But know that life will take care of you.
You're always guided,
Protected,
Nurtured by the Divine.
And when you just stop and use your willpower to overcome this first resistance to do,
Do,
Do something,
Fill in the void,
Fill in the void,
And you just connect to the flow of life,
To everything that you find flowing around,
Your breath,
Your blood flow and heartbeat and the steps that you can take during a simple walk through the streets or parks or along a river,
Then in this slow tempo life will find you again.
It is always there,
It is always,
You're always tapped into this energy.
Just sometimes you are overcome by artificial things.
And when you tap into this energy,
When you allow yourself to be receptive,
You don't need to really do anything to be recreated.
It will just flow naturally into you and you will feel on the physical level how you are revived.
You need to do these things every day if you want to accumulate enough power to make a business successful and to help make the world a better place.
You need this power,
You need this strength,
And we all need you and your purpose to be thriving and fruitful.
I thank you deeply for taking the time to study Balanced Business and for making all the effort that you make in this world,
For shaping your offering,
For navigating all your doubts and coming forth with the unique gift that you have for all of us.
Thank you,
My fellow creator,
And lots of love,
Luck,
And light on your journey.
Be well.
