The "sacred pause between the breath" refers to a mindfulness and spiritual practice involving intentional stillness in the moments between the natural inhale and exhale. This brief moment of quiet is seen across various traditions, including the yogic tradition, as a portal to inner wisdom, intuition, presence, healing, and a deeper connection to one's true self. Use this 10-minute practice as often as you need to find a sacred pause in your day and move inwards to find rest, relaxation, inner peace & presence, and let your nervous system calm from any stress or anxiety present in your day. This track contains no music to offer more variety for those who prefer no music in their meditations, but you are welcome to choose your own. There will be soft closing words to close the practice.

Welcome.

My name is Natalie and this is a short meditation to connect to our own sacred pause that lives between each breath and that lives within us.

So the sacred pause can be seen as the moment where we feel presence,

Peace,

And it can be found with the breath.

So find a seat or lie down,

Find a place where you feel supported and let your eyes soften and take one slower more full breath feeling the breath enter and as you exhale slowly let your body settle.

Allow your body to breathe for you finding a breath that feels effortless,

Easeful,

Soft and feel the quality of each breath as you allow things to settle and slow down.

Notice how it feels to breathe in and how it feels to breathe out and notice how it feels to allow your body to breathe.

And perhaps an allowing is needed here,

A sense of trust that your body will find the rhythm that it needs,

That it will breathe for you.

This sense of slowly gently letting go,

Letting go of controlling the breath,

Letting it be for a moment.

Each time you breathe in let your focus be on the quality of the inhales,

Feeling the temperature of the air that enters,

Noticing how it feels to breathe in.

This life,

This expansion entering,

Filling you up.

This sense of awakeness and then allow your attention to rest and to focus on the exhales.

Notice how it feels to take each breath out and let go.

Letting the breath go,

Letting it flow out of the body.

You may feel this sense of emptying,

Of softening.

Notice inhales and exhales together now and begin to notice that connection,

That little moment that connects the inhale to the exhale and that connects the exhale to the inhale.

And you may begin to notice a small point at the intersection between each breath.

There's a gentle short pause,

A natural beat in between.

Without changing your breath,

Simply start to notice this moment of space,

This moment of pause in between each breath.

This pause like a small seam that connects the breath and you allow your mind to move into this very small space in between the breath.

And this is where we find the sacred pause,

The tiniest space that when entered reveals a whole world of subtle intuitive knowing.

Continue to breathe here.

Continue to be present.

Letting your mind draw deeper into this space breath by breath.

And slowly you can come back feeling the inhales.

Maybe you allow the breath to lengthen for a few breaths.

Maybe you allow the breath to sigh out slowly.

And you can bring in some movement into your body in any way that feels right in this moment for you.

And I'd like to thank you for sharing in this short practice.

You can come back to this as many times as you need to,

To explore the sacred pause.

I'll see you again soon and may peace be with you.

Very grateful for having you Natalie to lead me through all manner of practices on InsightTimer β€οΈπŸ™. I tried this last night but was feeling a bit β€œwired” so found it hard to focus. Tried it again just now and drifted into a deep state πŸ§˜β€β™‚οΈπŸ’š. I love how you keep introducing new modalities, eg this short one without your awesome music background. Dana on its way πŸ’•
