This is a practice to help overcome boredom eating, through taking a visual journey to a beautiful white sand beach. By tapping into our mind with conscious awareness, we can slip into a state of relaxation where we can set intentions for improving aspects of our life that we wish to. Enjoy this relaxing practice and embrace the positive repercussions it can bring for our body perception and concept of self love.

When you're ready to begin,

Place yourself in a comfortable position,

Either sitting or lying down,

Legs and feet uncrossed and slightly apart,

Hands resting loosely in your lap.

And let's begin.

Let's begin with your breathing.

I'd like for you to take some long,

Slow deep breaths and fill your lungs with air.

Then hold that breath for the mental count of three and as you slowly exhale all the air from your mouth,

Just think in your mind the words deeply,

Deeply,

Deeply relaxed.

So let us begin.

Breathe in,

Hold for three and breathe out.

Breathe in,

Hold for three and breathe out.

Breathe in,

Hold for three and breathe out.

And when you breathe in,

Imagine that you're breathing in calmness and relaxation.

And when you breathe out,

Just breathe away any tensions or anxieties or any worries that you may have.

And feel the physical body beginning to relax.

Begin by relaxing the eyes,

Those tiny muscles around the eyes,

Let them relax,

Let go.

If they're not already closed,

You might like to gently close them now.

Noticing that comfortable feeling around the lids,

Perhaps even a slight fluttering there as it takes no effort at all to allow them to close.

And know that for the duration of this session,

There is absolutely nothing for you to do but relax.

And it's a wonderful feeling to know that there's nothing of any importance for you to do.

Nobody wants anything,

Nobody needs anything.

There's no place to go right now,

Nothing to do but relax and let go.

Relax and let go.

And enjoy the wonderful feeling that is growing and developing within you now.

Relax,

Let go.

Just be aware of the position of your body resting here.

Notice the feel of any clothing or anything else touching your body.

Be aware of the time of day,

Morning or afternoon,

Evening or nighttime,

The time of the year,

The temperature of the air on the skin of your hands and any other uncovered areas of your body.

Be aware of the surface beneath you and just let yourself think how your awareness doesn't end there but goes all the way down,

Deep down into the very centre of the earth.

And relax.

Just trust in the sound of my voice.

Allow my voice to enter your mind and take you deeper and deeper,

Down and down into a wonderful place,

Deep within you.

A very special place where those important changes to your life are getting ready now to take place.

Now in a moment I want you to count slowly backwards in your mind.

What I'd like you to do is to count backwards from 100 and after each number to think in your mind the words deeply,

Deeply,

Deeply relaxed.

And as you think those words in your mind you find that you become deeply,

Deeply,

Deeply relaxed.

So just count slowly backwards in your mind and any time you lose count or lose track just start again at 100.

Any time you lose count just start again at 100.

And whilst you're counting backwards with a conscious thinking mind I'm going to be talking to the deepest part of you and you don't even need to listen to me because your subconscious mind hears everything that it needs to hear.

So don't forget any time you lose count or lose track just start again at 100 and allow my voice to enter the very deepest part of your mind.

That wonderful place where those important changes in your life are already beginning to take place.

And my words can become your thoughts and your thoughts can generate a wonderful new way of being and feeling and thinking for you.

But just for now keep your mind focused on those numbers counting slowly backwards from 100.

Deeply,

Deeply,

Deeply relaxed.

99 deeply,

Deeply,

Deeply relaxed.

And remember any time you lose count or lose track to just start again at 100.

I want you to take your awareness once more down to your feet and imagine if you will a sensation of warmth and heaviness flowing in through the toes into the feet.

Feel that warm,

Comfortable,

Heavy feeling flowing in through the toes and into the feet.

Now let that feeling spread over the heels and into the ankles then all the way up into the lower legs,

Over the knees and into the upper legs until both the left and the right leg become deeply,

Deeply,

Deeply relaxed.

And let that feeling,

That relaxing feeling flow up now into the hips and into the thighs,

Into the pelvic area relaxing the pelvis and all the pelvic muscles.

Now feel the relaxing feeling flowing into the stomach relaxing the tummy and all the muscles there.

Relax the chest and the shoulders.

Just let them feel limp and loose and comfortable.

Limp and loose and comfortable.

Now take that relaxing feeling over the shoulders and into the back and relax the two big muscles there,

One each side of the spine.

Then move the relaxation back to the shoulders and let it flow all the way down the arms into the wrists,

The hands,

The fingers and thumbs.

Notice the warmth there in the palms of the hands.

There may also be a tingling sensation there,

A tingling sensation there in the palms of the hands.

Let that relaxation spread up into the face and let all the facial muscles relax,

The tiny muscles around the mouth,

The nose and the eyes.

Let the forehead feel smooth and soft and the cheeks feel flat and smooth and relax.

Just allow yourself to relax deeply and comfortably.

I'd like you to go back in time now.

Go back in time.

Just let the hours,

Days,

Weeks,

Months,

Even years just fall away.

Drifting back now to a time,

Place,

Situation or event when you are really bored with what you are doing.

I want you to go back to a time,

Place,

Situation or event in which you are really bored with what you are doing.

And as you do this,

I'd like you to actually recapture and re-experience the feeling of boredom just as strongly as you can.

Recapture the feeling of boredom as strongly as you can.

Now I'd like you to hold on to that feeling of boredom but replace the event that originally bored you with the act of eating.

Replace the event that originally bored you with the act of eating.

And as you do this,

You find that your subconscious mind is helping you to automatically associate feelings of tedium and boredom with food and eating.

Good.

And now I'd like you to picture and imagine yourself seated at a table piled high with all the fattening foods that would normally be very appealing to you.

These are all the foods that would normally be very appealing and very,

Very difficult to resist.

And as you begin to eat,

You find that your interest in eating these foods wanes very quickly.

You find that your interest in eating these foods fades very quickly.

After just a few bites,

You find that you're getting bored,

Getting tired of eating and you want to do something else besides eat.

You're really enjoying those first few bites but apathy and boredom towards food and eating sets in quickly after those first few enjoyable bites and you find yourself beginning to feel very indifferent towards food and eating.

But you're feeling good about your lack of concern for food and eating.

You feel thrilled about your feelings of monotony and dullness related to eating,

Especially overeating.

From this day forward,

When it comes to food,

You feel detached and indifferent.

After you've eaten a small amount,

You're anxious to get up from the table.

You want to resume or get started on some other activity that's more interesting to you.

This activity can be anything that you find interesting and exciting.

Reading,

Hobbies,

Conversation,

Sports,

Exercise,

Watching television,

Absolutely anything that appeals to you but that does not include food.

And now I'd like you to picture and imagine yourself standing on a sparkling white sand beach.

In one hand you have a pad of paper and in the other you have a pencil.

On that pad I'd like you to write the phrase interest in food and eating.

You're writing the phrase interest in food and eating.

You tear off the piece of paper,

Reach over and pick up a bottle with a cork in it.

You uncork the bottle,

Fold or roll up the piece of paper,

Place it in the bottle and put the cork back in.

You then reach back and throw that bottle into the ocean.

A wave takes it and you watch as it floats far out to sea over the horizon disappearing forever.

And with it disappears any abnormal or inappropriate interest in food and eating.

Still standing on that beach I'd like you to reach over and with your finger you write that phrase interest in food and eating in the wet beach sand.

You then stand back and watch as the waves obliterate that phrase taking with it any abnormal or inappropriate interest in food and eating.

From this day forward you're eating only the foods that are healthy and nutritious to you.

Only in the amounts necessary to attain and then maintain your ideal weight.

Now I'm going to count the numbers from 1 up to 5.

With each number that I count you'll feel yourself becoming more and more alert.

You'll also feel yourself becoming more and more positive and in control.

At the count of 5 you will then open your eyes feeling completely refreshed and alert.

3,

4 and 5.

Open your eyes feeling completely refreshed,

Feeling positive and completely in control.

I love this meditation the complete relaxation I feel by the end of it is amazing and I’m so focused on losing weight like never before. I find the counting backwards and visualisation a little confusing I’ve not mastered shutting off that part of my consciousness lol. But I love this
