Good morning.
It's a really good idea to do this practice somewhere you're physically comfortable.
And let's settle with a few deep breaths in through the nose and out through the mouth.
Really filling the belly,
Relaxing the belly with each in-breath as far as possible.
And breathing out through the mouth slowly.
Let's do that a couple more times.
Just arriving and settling.
Allowing the breath to settle in its natural rhythm now.
Releasing any effort.
Noticing the in-breath and the out-breath.
And without going over yesterday,
Just acknowledging how you feel right now.
And be honest.
Nothing needs to be pushed away.
Feelings of shame,
Regret,
Sadness,
Anger,
Exhaustion,
Pain,
Nervousness.
They're all welcome here.
You're human and not that every morning is filled with joy and optimism.
Life can be very complex.
And it's important to feel your feelings.
To acknowledge your feelings.
And then come back to the breath.
Come back to the body.
Come back to this new day.
You did wake up.
You are alive.
And today is not yesterday.
Let's sit together and settle into today.
Using the breath,
The in-breath and the out-breath.
The natural rhythm of the breath.
As an anchor if you find your mind wandering.
Just letting the words wash over you.
Settle.
Today is a new day.
Today is a fresh start.
You're alive and life is a gift.
Today is not yesterday.
Today can be different.
Today will be different.
Whatever you're feeling,
This too shall pass.
And you will keep moving forward.
So throughout the course of your day.
If or when you catch your mind returning to yesterday.
You find yourself going down rabbit holes.
Feeling overwhelmed or losing time.
Use the breath,
The physical feeling of breathing in and out.
Maybe the rising and falling of the belly.
Movements in the chest.
Sensations at the nose or the mouth.
Use the breath to bring you back to today.
To this new day.
To the fresh start that is today.
Now without going over yesterday.
Ask yourself what a better day might look and feel like.
You might ask yourself how can I best look after myself today.
Or you might ask yourself what can I do to make today a better day.
And just take a few moments and see what comes up.
You know the answer might be stay in bed.
There are no rights or wrongs.
Just see what comes up and try and listen to yourself today.
How can you best look after yourself today.
Sitting quietly.
Inhaling the air of a new day.
May you be well.
And may you take very good care of yourself today.
Thanks so much for practicing.
