I think it's healthy to drop all the effort sometimes and just be,
Take a rest.
There's always so much going on,
If not in life,
Then certainly in your head.
From the moment you wake up,
Sometimes till the moment you go to sleep,
There's an incessant thinking,
Working things out,
Strategizing,
To-do lists.
How do I respond to this person?
What do I do about this situation?
Where will I be in 5,
10,
15 years time?
Am I on the right track?
I'm definitely on the wrong track.
Actually,
I'm doing quite well.
I need to make some changes in this area.
I've got an issue going on over here that I need to attend to.
I've got to take the bins out,
Need to clean the sink,
This needs doing,
That needs doing.
And unless you intentionally take time out,
I think it can be exhausting,
Sometimes overwhelming.
But we do have the opportunity to rest,
To pause sometimes,
And this is one of those opportunities.
So in this practice,
We're not following a traditional mindful meditation script.
This is just about you finding somewhere comfy and taking a rest.
So please do make yourself comfortable.
I don't mind what position you're in.
I'd like you to use this as an opportunity to drop all the effort,
To put your bags down.
There's absolutely nothing to achieve here.
I said I wasn't going to follow a mindful process,
But one of the things that can really help in taking a break is taking a few really deep breaths and allowing yourself to let go a little on each out breath.
You might like to do that.
You might just like to rest.
There's absolutely nothing to achieve here.
Rest in your experience,
Whatever that might be.
And when your mind does start up again,
You might like to take a couple of deep breaths to bring yourself back to a rest,
An idle state,
Nothing to work out in this moment.
Drop all the effort.
Taking some deep breaths when the mind runs away,
Very gently coming back to the rest.
Your body and mind will thank you for this.
Letting go.
Letting go.
Drop all the effort.
And when you're ready,
Very slowly coming back to the space around you.
Please remember that it's completely natural for our minds to be full,
To dart around,
But we can take intentional breaks,
Even small breaks,
Ideally once a day,
Where we mute notifications and take some time for ourselves.
Thank you so,
So much for practicing with me today.
