Hello my friends,

My name is Asal Shokati and today I want to talk to you very briefly about the elements in nature,

Especially the ones regarded in Ayurvedic medicine and traditional Chinese medicine.

But the regards for the elements and their importance in holistic medicine is not limited to these two major ones.

Greek medicine and ancient Persian or Islamic medicine also make several references and use the elements as the basis for treating ailments or preventative healthcare methods.

As known in the traditional Chinese medicine,

The elements are regarded more in a pure way simply by referencing the element itself.

For instance,

The element of wood,

Representing spring,

Early spring,

Going into fire,

Summer,

Fire turns into earth,

Earth to metal,

Metal to water and the cycle completes and this is like a regenerative cycle.

In Ayurveda,

The elements are seen as ether or space,

Air,

We see fire,

Water and earth and the combination of two of these together will form what is known as the doshas,

Vata,

Pitta and kapha.

In the vata dosha,

We're looking at the elements of ether and air.

In pitta,

It is fire and moisture,

So not a lot of water but some moisture,

There's a little bit of grounded movement there.

And then kapha,

The structure or earth and water,

Think of mud and soil and it's very beautiful because you go into different medicines like Greek medicine and Islamic or Persian medicine and you do see that the elements are combined into four humors similar to doshas instead of three as in Ayurveda.

And doesn't matter how you look at it,

When you pick a system and go with the concept of elements,

You're making a lot of reference to nature,

Rhythms of nature,

Timing,

Geography,

So on and so forth,

Even colors.

In traditional Chinese medicine,

Major organs deal with different elements.

For instance,

Liver and gallbladder,

They make references to wood and so on and so forth.

In Ayurveda,

There are similar traits but the similarity is both these systems,

They use certain hours of the day dedicated to these organs and organ health.

So if we get in touch with the biorhythms of our own body and nature and get into better alignment,

Then these organs will have their time,

Take time,

Take energy to repair,

Rejuvenate and do their functions,

Thus releasing a lot of stagnation,

Stuck emotions,

Thoughts and so on.

So by these simple facts of paying attention to the elements,

We can open up a whole new world or several worlds of holistic healing and bringing ourselves,

Not just in the physical body,

Mind and psyche emotions and even our spirituality and eventually the unity of our entire being into alignment.

Hope you enjoyed today's talk,

Thank you.
