Shamatha means Calm Abiding or Peacefully Remaining, its the foundation of Buddhist Mindfulness Practice. Taking our seat, placing our attention on an anchor such as the breath, offers us, home ground, a safe transient sensation that allows us to return to our embodiment in the present moment. When we pause from the momentum of life in this way, we begin to breed an inner sanctuary, a calm resting place from where we can experience life more fully.

Hi there,

I'm Kianna Adhimir from Mysore Yoga Paris.

These droplets designed to support you in your practice are a collaboration between myself and sound artist Jotham Agam.

They're best experienced listening with headphones.

So take a moment to settle into your seat,

Fully drop into your foundation,

Connected to earth,

In relationship with the ground,

And become aware of the sacred places where your body touches the earth.

From the stability of the ground,

The spine floats up and out of your seat.

Your heart is spacious,

Shoulders relaxed.

Your chin is slightly dropped inward,

A very subtle bow towards your heart space.

Now soften your eyes and lower your gaze to the floor,

Or you can allow your eyes to fully close.

Just establishing a simple sense of presence.

And take a little time to feel into what you have brought onto your cushion,

And welcome that whatever it is.

As an act of friendliness towards your own being,

You might ask yourself,

How am I?

Not how should I be,

But how am I?

And just rest your attention in the space of the question.

To deepen your inquiry,

You might let your awareness filter through the layers of your embodiment,

Feeling into your physical structure and what arises there.

Your energetic layer,

Flow and texture of your natural breath,

Observing your emotional body,

The feelings that are here.

And what is the state of your mind?

Whatever you discover belongs in this moment.

You don't need to fix or change anything at all.

Feel your body breathing,

And try not to manipulate the breath,

But simply allow it to come and to go.

Notice where you most easily feel your breath.

Perhaps it's the rising and falling of your belly.

Maybe you feel the breath flowing in and out of your nostrils.

Or you might feel your whole body breathing,

Almost a cellular sensation of expansion and condensing.

Wherever you most easily connect with your breath,

Allow your attention to rest there.

And this is not a bullseye focus,

But an anchor for the mind.

A very simple landing in the here and now.

Every time you notice your attention slipping,

Which it will,

Then without judgement simply re-relax open again and gently guide your awareness back home to the breath.

Each time you notice your mind leaving,

Is an opportunity to begin again.

Every time you reconnect to the anchor of your breath,

You strengthen your pathway home to the aliveness of this moment right here.

Every experience is precious.

Our experience is what we have.

This deep ability to abide in our actual experience gives us a confidence that is described as the lion's roar of confidence.

Cultivate a heart that is ready to receive every moment,

Whatever the moment brings.

Www.

Mooji.
