Breathing space,

Taking a pause from suffering.

When we understand that the mind,

The body,

And the breath are all intricately connected,

Then we can understand that creating space in one allows for creating space in all.

In this practice,

We will allow for a moment of pause in order to create internal space from mental or emotional pain.

By allowing ourselves a moment of reset from something we struggle against or from something that ought to be different than it is,

We achieve a moment of conscious relief.

By allowing something to just be,

We can temporarily alleviate a state of pain or suffering.

By pausing,

We can distance ourself from something that may not be fixed in the moment regardless,

And thus allowing us to approach the struggle or pain with a refreshed outlook.

Let's begin.

Call to mind something in your daily life that causes you mental or emotional pain,

Something that you struggle with changing,

Or something that you desire to be different.

Call it to mind and see it in your mind.

Feel it in your body.

Notice how your state changed by simply bringing this to mind,

And think to yourself,

How does this play out in your daily life?

By the beliefs that you tell yourself or a pattern of thought?

How does it play out in your mood?

Perhaps feeling a heaviness or uncertainty?

How does it play out in the sensations of your body?

Perhaps a tightness or constriction?

Notice the content of your thoughts and feelings when you become aware of this area of pain or suffering.

Think about the mental,

Physical,

And emotional effort you put in regularly to change or avoid this.

Now,

With this in mind,

Allow yourself to take a break or distance yourself from the pain or suffering.

Take a deep breath in through your nose,

And perhaps gently close your eyes.

Allow yourself to take a break from thinking and feeling of this pain or suffering,

And simply let it be.

In this moment,

Allow yourself to pause from the energy of trying to change the pain or suffering.

For this moment,

Right here,

Allow it to just be.

Say to yourself,

In this moment,

Let it be.

Take a pause from the thought.

Detach emotion from the thought,

And let it go.

Invite relief.

Take a deep breath in through your nose.

Feel the breath flow down your throat and expand your lungs.

Feel yourself merging into a more peaceful way of being.

Take another deep breath in through your nose,

And allow the breath to create space in your body and mind.

Let the mind quiet by focusing on your breathing.

Take another deep inhale through your nose.

Notice the breath flowing down your throat and expand your lungs.

Know that in the future,

You may continue to work for change,

But in this moment,

You can allow for a pause or space from it.

Allow yourself to take a break from pain or struggle.

Continue to breathe smooth and calm breaths,

And gently open your eyes.

Consider this tool in the future when you need to take a break from pain or suffering,

When you need to feel relief and a shift in being.

Thank you for practicing with me.
