Our relationship to the world around us is complex,
To say the least.
This contemplation is not about understanding all of the complex dynamics of life.
That's probably a different app.
But we will explore the many things we are in relationship with past,
Present,
And future.
Think about all of the things you're in relation to every day.
Your friends.
Your neighbors.
Your dog that just ate something that it wasn't supposed to.
The conversation you had with a partner last week.
A job you've applied for but haven't heard back from.
From the moment you first came into this world,
All of these relationships,
Big and small,
Create your experience of living.
And as we near the end of our lives,
Whenever that may happen,
The experience of dying is a release of all of these relationships in various ways and time frames.
In fact,
Death is often considered the biggest letting go we will ever experience.
So no matter what your religious or spiritual beliefs are,
Practicing the act of letting go is something we all engage with,
Sometimes more successfully than others.
Take the next few moments to simply sit in the knowing that in both living and dying,
There are a vast array of opportunities to practice letting go.
So let's do some letting go together,
Yes?
Simply take an inhale,
Hold it in,
And consider all of the many relationships in your life.
And when you're ready to exhale,
Let all of them go.
Let's do that one more time.
Exhaling in,
Hold it at the top.
Think of something,
Anything that needs a little letting go.
And when you're ready,
Exhaling and let it go.
Is there anything you want to be free of in your life today?
Again,
Is there anything you want to be free of in your life today?
Okay,
Now let that go.
This is now in the past behind you.
And with most things,
This practice is a practice.
So use the next few moments to let go of letting go and doing whatever you need to do to be free,
To step back into this moment in your body and resting in perspective of knowing and appreciating just how alive you are.
