A Long Dream Is Coming To An End
by Mooji
This profound guided meditation from Mooji points us beyond the seeking and striving mind to the space of What Is, that inner essence in each of us which is naturally and effortlessly still and content. This is a powerful introduction and pointer to that space of effortless stillness.
Transcript
Om.
Make yourself comfortable as much as possible,
To keep your back straight without trying too much,
So that all the organs inside are in a nice,
Relaxed way,
All energy flowing nicely.
That is all.
I will begin this morning's guided meditation with the sound of the bell,
And we will close this session with the sound of the bell.
There may be a feeling there afterwards that you wish to sit for a while longer,
And of course,
That is beautiful also.
But after the bell,
You are free to move about like this.
Some people find that they are happy to listen and be internal with their focus,
But they are happy to keep their eyes open.
Others feel very,
Very comfortable just to close the windows to the sense of the outer.
Whatever suits you is fine.
I would like you to know that at the end of our session today,
The signalling of the bell doesn't mean you come out of your being at all.
It just means that it is the end of the session for today.
Om.
Now that you are here and relaxing as much as you are able to,
Do not make any effort at all.
Even if there is a little tension,
Or the slightest sense of uneasiness,
Don't try to correct that.
Simply be aware of it,
But with a sense of detachment,
As though you are looking from some distance away at it.
And that is fine.
Very good.
If some thought energy appears within you,
Arising,
Just let them flow by themselves.
No need to engage with them.
Don't climb on board.
Just simply stay in that place of natural stillness.
So,
Even if there is a tendency to go with thoughts,
Or the play of memory,
Or projection,
Which normally is a habit,
But today it is as though you are dimming down,
Switching off that habit of being pulled into the noise,
And the thought stream.
You are simply here.
That is all.
There is no effort in that which is here of itself.
It was not created.
You did not make anything at all.
You are simply resting inside your natural being.
Sometimes a little expectation,
A feeling may come from the mind,
Like,
OK,
Where are we going?
What is next?
You may watch that.
There is no next.
There is a space within you,
In the place of pure awareness,
Which is not in time.
Though time appears in the immensity of that stillness,
It is not obedient to,
Or affected by,
The play of time.
So,
No next.
Next is only an anxiousness,
An expectation.
Simply pay attention nicely to the sense of Is,
Just What Is,
Without shape,
Without movement.
It is here.
The very essence behind the moving mind.
Notice you are not waiting.
Therefore,
You are quite content.
You are not the servant of the mind.
The functions of the body are taking place without your intention or support.
Even observing the breath,
It is moving by itself.
Observing of breath also is very natural.
There is no real effort here.
There is no need to control the senses.
Only observe whatever appears or arises in the being.
Observe with detachment.
You may have heard me say,
Don't log in.
Meaning,
It is only appearing on the screen of the mind consciousness.
You are not on the screen.
Even the ability to observe the screen is itself perceived.
Don't go to your mind for this.
All is well and effortless.
Om.
By paying attention to your natural stillness,
Uncreated stillness,
The mind gradually slows down into the stillness itself.
In the stillness,
Even the subtlest of activity,
As sensation or thought,
Appears,
Plays,
Disappears.
Yet,
Yourself as the pure unbound space of silence and emptiness,
Remains unaffected.
Be aware of this.
You are not any activity.
Even the activity of looking or observing is simply taking place.
The real Self does nothing at all.
And yet,
Being aware of itself,
A real peace emanates.
A deep silence is felt.
A quiet joy.
An ease within yourself.
These are the perfume of the Self.
Beautiful as they are,
They do not define what is.
Here,
Witnessing is taking place,
Effortlessly,
Naturally,
Without yourself assuming any shape,
Such as being a witness.
Notice this.
Sometimes,
A little sense of drowsiness may arise,
But this is not a quality of awareness itself.
It appears or arises in the field of consciousness as soon as you recognise that this is observed,
Its power to create sleep drops away.
Though you are moving into deep rest,
So it appears,
At the same time,
You are not changing at all.
Be aware of that which is untouched by the activities of mind.
There is no excitement.
It is really indescribable.
Sometimes,
From the mind may come a sense of curiosity to find out what this is.
Ignore that.
Remain as you are.
Any effort can only come from the mind.
You are already here.
Notice also if there is any beginning to This Which Is.
You will come to see that it is without form,
Without shape.
It is not a quality of time.
It is not in front of you,
As something you are observing.
And notice that you are fully present,
Not waiting to be.
You are.
There is nothing personal about that.
Again,
Notice that you are not waiting,
Not expecting.
There is no trying to be.
Let all that go.
When I say,
You,
I am not referring to anything personal whatsoever.
It is earlier than the person.
Untouched.
Formless.
Yet,
Totally here.
It is neither in front,
Nor behind.
Such terms fall short.
They cannot define.
Just,
You may say,
The sense of Is-ness,
Beyond duality,
Beyond other-ness.
This we refer to as the very source,
Or essence of the mind itself.
This unified field,
So to speak,
Because the words by themselves are not enough,
They can only indicate the wordless.
This unified field,
It is not fixed,
Nor is it moving.
Notice that no concept,
No terms define,
Or capture,
Or can really convey.
It is like a finger pointing to That which is everywhere,
Present.
It is never crowded.
It is not a room.
It is not outer space.
It is the most subtle.
It is your Self.
As long as we have been engaged with the sense of personhood,
We are in a state of distractedness from This.
Although This never changes,
It is always present.
It is the source.
It is the reality.
You truly are.
A question may come,
How to stay like this?
It does not apply.
This is This.
The sense of personhood,
And the world,
And activities,
It is like a dance of consciousness arising in This.
It dances in This.
It subsides in This.
You may ask,
Am I to sit like this forever?
Sitting like this has got nothing to do with This.
Sitting only supports a wish in you to give less attention to the mind,
And to allow the attention to return to its source,
Which is your true nature.
To experience This as not a place that you visit,
But that which you are.
Don't speak about it.
Simply confirm.
The mind will arise from time to time,
As though it does not want that you clearly recognise again this sense of permanency and unchangingness within yourself.
And the play of the mind,
Which has been cultivated and largely imagined,
Has been a relationship that somehow appears to hide your natural state.
Having discovered This,
Which you may call,
In normal language or so,
A kind of background to your personal life,
Once you are confirmed and know,
Not merely believe,
But confirmed in the knowing being .
.
.
Because knowing and being are one here.
Once this is clear for you,
You may observe your life in its ordinary day-to-day manifestation,
Unfolding in the light and grace of this deeper understanding.
Unexpectedly,
You may find that things flow with greater ease and harmony than before.
So,
Any expectations that being centred inside your own stillness leads to complacency,
Or laziness,
Or rejection of the world,
Are not true.
But you will see that,
As you continue to stabilise,
Become firm in your understanding,
You are not practising yourself.
You are simply discovering the fullness of what you are.
For a time,
The mind will come,
And appear to come with such tremendous force that you may feel you have lost your base.
But that itself will only be a thought appearing in the mind.
Overcome this by not going with the mind stream.
Paying attention to yourself releases the grace of great joy and peace.
The fading away of fear and anxieties brings a wisdom and a natural confidence and well-beingness,
Which is natural for you.
And therefore,
You will continue to feel your attraction,
A natural attraction to the Self,
Until all doubts about yourself disappear.
Do not be distracted by the mind.
But even if momentarily,
Or from time to time,
You experience the sense of distractedness,
Know that it is only a phenomenon that has its root in the mind.
It is not real.
Do not judge yourself as failing.
You are simply waking up.
The mind in this time may appear like a very enticing dream,
To keep you in a dream of personhood.
So that you are not enjoying,
Or resting in,
Your Truth.
Don't worry.
The more you give importance to your Self-discovering,
The weaker the influence of the psychological mind plays.
Now,
Having said this,
Let these words permeate your being,
That which I am pointing to.
Let's take a moment.
Notice,
Nothing has happened in your true nature.
Like an immense stillness and peace,
Long avoided by the mind,
You may say,
You are coming into your natural Self-discovering.
It will not matter when you are grounded in this,
Whether you have a very active or dynamic life.
It doesn't matter.
It will be held inside this inner dimension of peace and tranquillity.
The realisation of your true Self automatically blesses and permeates every aspect of your dynamic expression.
You will be confirmed in this.
You are simply here.
This here-ness that I speak about,
It is not a geographical location only.
It is the here-ness that has an every-where-ness about it.
There is no need to imagine.
There is no need to fantasise.
It is already so.
It has always been so.
Being-ness,
Pure,
Absolute awareness,
Has no boundary.
When we are deeply attached to our mind-identity,
We experience sometimes a sense of fear,
That if I move towards this more deeply,
I am going to vanish.
This happens because we are attached to the sense of our bodily shape and proportion.
We believe that the body and our Self are the same.
The body should not be cursed.
The body is very necessary,
Even to have the taste of awakening.
So this is not dismissiveness towards body or senses,
Not even of the mind.
Just know that the mind has appeared to be strong,
Simply because you believe it to be.
We also feel that we only know what is within our mind range.
Don't cling to such sentiments.
It is not true.
Actually,
In the immensity of being,
The sense of knowing things becomes very trivial.
The natural sense,
The natural knowing and being is immeasurable.
Knowing this,
You will observe and experience that in your day-to-day life,
You flow with greater efficiency,
Greater clarity and natural confidence.
The mind might appear to want to know,
What is this all about?
There is no need to feed that curiosity from the mind,
Because even if it was described or told to the mind,
There is nothing it can do with it,
Apart from imagining it to be something it imagines.
Simply be.
Simply be.
My words and my guidance may at times appear to be over-simplistic,
Or even naive,
Because the mind expects something super-spectacular.
But that is not necessary.
You are as you are,
Not as you have been conditioned to be.
Your natural state is without conditioning.
Knowing that it is not trapped or bound,
You become naturally aware of your infiniteness.
Don't give these things to your mind.
They are already inside your heart.
By remaining still and quiet,
The heart will serve them,
Whatever you need to know,
In the appropriate time.
Trust this,
Until you come to know this completely.
Do not try to behave like consciousness.
Be.
From time to time,
You may experience a sort of strength in the mind.
You may identify with that so strongly,
You feel,
Oh,
This is me!
I want to know this!
I want to ask some more questions about awareness.
No answer about awareness will bring you to awareness.
You are already the awareness,
Within which the itchy mind is arising.
Don't fall for that.
It has nothing to offer.
You are already what you have been longing to find.
It is only a question of when you are fit and ready to recognise and accept this.
Not accept it as a mental concept,
But accept it in the obviousness of its own revelation inside your heart.
Sometimes it arises in your stillness,
How can I stay like this?
Well,
How are you like this at the moment?
Is even an effort or quality of staying present?
If the feeling of staying as an effort like this appears in the mind,
Know that it is the mind.
You are already This.
It is only by honouring This that you see,
That it reveals its natural ever-present-ness beyond effort.
You are not what you perceive.
Perceiving the play of time,
You are not time.
Perceiving thought,
You are not thought.
Perceiving feelings,
You are not feelings.
Perceiving memory,
You are not memory,
Nor its content.
Perceiving desire,
You are not desire.
Perceiving fear,
You are not fear.
Perceiving shape,
You are not shape.
Relax in the inability to define yourself.
Rest in the fullness of your being.
There is no need to try and share this,
Or talk about it with anyone.
The mind wants to do this,
Knowing it really is impossible.
Simply remain as you are.
And let life unfold in its dynamic manifestation.
Watch from here.
Look and see.
Finally,
I point out this.
Though it might appear so,
The Self,
The pure consciousness,
Does not come and go.
It is the timeless,
The unchanging one.
It is our attention given to the moving mind that gives the sensation of coming and going.
It is the mind that comes and goes.
Observe in the unchanging Self.
Contemplate this.
Get used to this sense of emptiness.
Here,
There is nothing to be or become.
You are.
This is your secret.
Here,
You are beyond conflict.
Let all things arise,
Play and depart,
Unforced.
Pay attention to your being.
Move in your natural spontaneity.
And you will know.
You will think when it is time to think,
Do when it is time to do,
Rest when it is time to rest.
And you will somehow know this intuitively.
Choose your Self.
You are the stillness inside all movement.
You are also the movement and the stillness inside it.
This is a paradox that you will come to become very comfortable with it.
You are not escaping to your Self.
You are simply honouring your Self.
Mind is not your home.
You are home.
In a few moments,
You will hear the sound of the bell.
This will only indicate that we have come to the end of this session.
If you wish,
You may sit.
You may continue to sit.
If it pleases you.
But whether you sit or get up,
You will see that when your attention is here,
Nothing changes here.
Move in your natural flow.
Be well and happy.
Thank you.
Om.
I would like to sit with you just for a few moments.
Satsang with Mooji Satsang with Mooji Satsang with Mooji I would like to share with you that,
That which I have pointed to,
And you have come to recognise,
Will never leave you.
It will never leave you.
It is This that I am,
And that you are.
Now you may know,
I am the love inside you,
And you are the love inside me.
We are one.
Honour yourself.
Honour yourself.
A long sleep is coming to an end.
Don't go back to sleep.
I love you.

I am sorry Moojibaba, today my heart was broken and my mind was jumping around like a erratic candlelight. Still your guidance and loving spirit echoed through my mind and at least now at the end I feel a little bit of peace in me. Thank you teacher. Be blessed.

Thank you so much for the pointings you have always given for someone like me to not learn but discover.I want to thank you for all you have shown me and I have discovered by experience.I always hear you say that I Love you to everyone.I want to return this to you Mooji,I Love you.I do understand that I am the Love in you and you are the Love in me- we are one.I have never been so Awakened before.I have listened to you at all places, all Satsangs, anywhere you have spoken and one day ,your pointings just became clear to me but not seen, ( The perceiver can't be seen ) I did experience something so profound that words are hard to come by. I can say to you that I did find myself, my " I Am ness ". Explanation of this to some is impossible but I know you understand what I am saying. I was at your live Satsang August 29 th,2024 the prayida foundation Satsang.I was blessed to watch the zoom but not only that I raised my hand on zoom and you chose me to speak.I will NEVER forget that moment.I never thought I would ever meet you as I live in the United States and have never traveled internationally. This was my chance and I used your words and told my partner " Let's just see how things unfold .I can say things unfolded perfect for me. I was on zoom with my hand raised and I didn't think I had a chance.I did though as you said my name I became speechless until we spoke and I felt so comfortable with you.I could have talked to you for hours. One day maybe. I really got to speak to you on the Live Satsang.I got to thank you then for all you have pointed out to me so I could find me .Anywhere I can listen to your pointings is a blessing. I am grateful that people here on Insight - Timer get to hear such wisdom from you .I think that it is impossible to fall back asleep after such an awakening. ( For me this is ) Thank you Mooji ...Thank you... Thank you...You have pointed me into the right direction, the only direction and I know It will NEVER keave me .I am trying to not go to personhood to my "I Am ness " and back .I am learning more and more to just be still in my" I am ness"yet still dance in life . Yes I feel I am getting more comfortable with the paradox "YOU ARE THE STILLNESS IN ALL MOVEMENT,YOU ARE ALSO THE MOVEMENT AND STILLNESS INSIDE IT". I know I'm not escaping myself...Thank you Mooji as I have found myself ....Much Love and Peace to a wonderful soul. And again I Love you.Take Care Always, My Dear Friend..You are in my heartβ€οΈ
