What does worry feel like?

If you take a mental pause and feel worry you may come up with answers like fear,

Erasing mind,

Overly alert,

Or nervousness.

Worry revolves around imagined scenarios,

Risks,

Or problems that may arise in the future.

It often manifests as mental preoccupation.

You mentally ruminate on various possibilities and their potential consequences.

From an evolutionary standpoint,

Worry serves a crucial purpose in human survival and adaptation.

We are products of our ancient ancestors.

Worry,

With all its discomforts,

Enabled our ancestors to respond to danger more effectively.

These things that we find so uncomfortable about worry the feeling of fear,

Being overly alert,

And so on,

Motivated our predecessors to seek shelter,

Avoid predators,

And form social bonds for collective defense.

Ultimately,

Worry is meant to help us survive,

But our worries haven't evolved with modern times.

Although still valid,

Many of today's concerns aren't life-threatening,

But our worries take on the magnitude of that which are,

So we end up in a mind pattern of painful projection and ineffective problem solving.

Why would we want to know all this?

So we don't fight against ourselves.

Our human qualities are not bad,

In fact,

They're here to protect us.

Once we understand what is happening,

We can choose to accept our shadow emotions and with practice,

Alter the way we work with them.

Today we're going to bravely walk towards ourselves rather than run away.

With courage,

You'll embrace worry and learn what this shadow emotion is trying to tell you.

So back to the question,

What does worry feel like?

Perhaps fear,

An overly alert mind,

Raising thoughts,

A sense of heightened nervousness.

But what do all these things have in common?

They've narrowed your consciousness.

Worry is like being in a tunnel of your thoughts.

Let's come out of this tunnel and into the light.

Journey with me.

Take inventory of your breathing.

What part of your body are you breathing into?

Now place a hand on your low belly,

Right below your navel.

Ask the breath to travel to this space.

You don't have to take any action or alter your natural respiration pattern.

Remember,

Your body knows how to breathe itself.

Instead,

Create a container under the navel for breath to travel to,

Relaxed and unencumbered.

This is a portal.

The sacral energy opens you to be here in spirit.

You are more than your thoughts.

You are a creative force connected to the universal energy of love.

Now place your other hand on your heart.

With this hand on your heart space,

Open to your inner courage.

Observe what you feel.

If you feel significant energy like congestion or tightness or an empty feeling,

It's okay.

You have strength to open to whatever is here in the moment.

Just keep listening.

Let's connect these areas,

Belly and heart.

Imagine there is a clear line of energy between these two areas in your body.

Energy can now easily move between the two spaces.

This freeing energy movement is now relaxing your whole.

This is a portal.

The healing energy opens you to your reserve of courage.

You're always surrounded by divine light of mystical good.

Trust in your reserve of courage while you connect to the expansive universal support that always exists around you.

Feel the space around your body,

Even just beyond the skin's surface.

Let that awareness expand further out beyond your arms reach.

Allow your awareness to keep expanding until you feel connected to the matrix of divine support.

Rest here just like this,

Doing nothing but being open and brave.

My voice will disappear for a while.

You need to connect to the divine.

If thoughts arrive,

They are not there as your enemy,

But as a friend.

Like tarot or psychic premonition.

When thoughts arrive,

Just ask,

What message do you have for me?

You're only there to ask the question.

The answers are almost irrelevant.

Stay as an energy being without words.

Journey for a while.

Stay brave and trust,

And I'll return soon.

Recall the energy between your sacral region and your heart.

Open,

Relaxed energy.

Recall the earth below you,

Its layers of mineral crust and warmth.

Recall the sky above you,

An umbrella of velvety blackness,

Only pierced by constellations of light,

The astral phenomena.

Feel your body at rest between heaven and earth.

Your body at rest,

Openly receiving while fully protected.

Without opening your eyes,

Bring a bit more breath into the body.

Remember the softness of your belly container and the clear energy of the heart and all that is in between.

You might like to take a deep breath,

Connecting the two and releasing deeply into the bottom of your exhale.

Create the energy of a smile in your throat,

Your palate and lips.

Just the beginning of one.

You can find genuine energy here because you've practiced the secret to life today.

Inviting yourself to step back into the universal flow of energy and trust in its goodness and support.
