This is a meditation to help you lift your mood.

If you're feeling low because you're anxious,

You're stressed or unhappy,

That things are not going your way,

Make sure you use this small mindfulness technique for an immediate shift in the way you feel.

Let us begin.

Relax your body,

Drop your shoulders,

Allow yourself to rest on and take support from the surfaces supporting you.

Make sure the body is relaxed,

Allow your face also to become relaxed.

Bring your attention to the breath and begin to exhale,

Breathe out slowly and deeply and then allow a slow deeper inhalation from the abdomen all the way up to the top of the chest.

This way you have activated abdominal breathing.

Breathe deeply for three or four cycles till your mind feels a little bit calmer.

In the next cycle you inhale deeply and as you exhale just simply allow your lips to curve into a gentle smile,

Feeling all tension leave the body.

Again inhale deeply and now as you exhale again allow your lips to curve into a gentle smile,

Feeling all the clutter and stress leave the mind.

Now inhale deeply and smile again,

Letting go of any residual tension in the body and the mind and once again inhale slowly,

Gently,

Deeply and as you exhale simply allow the smile to curve your lips and feel the lightness it brings to the body and mind.

Rest in the lingering feeling of well-being.

As you are resting let yourself think of two things that you're grateful for that day.

It could be simple,

Small,

Everyday things.

A stimulating cup of coffee you had in the morning that you enjoyed very much.

The easy traffic on the way to work or a moment of affection with a partner.

Focus on these simple blessings,

Things that have worked and let them pep you up with renewed energy for the rest of the day.
