Yoga Nidra: Into Timelessness
This yoga nidra is a deep dive into timelessness. It's an invitation to slow down, rest and recalibrate, through an effortless process of relaxation. We'll balance the often fast pace of our earthly lives with the deeper heartbeat of the soul, which is always resting in eternity. This nidra is an exploration of earth and soul, cultivating a state of harmony as you rest in that which you are. Earth, and soul. I truly hope it serves your journey. The beautiful background music is 'Beyond Galaxies' by Music of Wisdom.

Welcome to the practice of Yoga Nidra.
My name is Miranda and I am deeply honoured to be guiding you on this journey today.
As we move down towards rest,
Notice if there is any restless energy in your body.
Maybe you want to circle the ankles and the wrists,
Maybe give yourself a little shake.
Allow the body to move as it needs to,
To clear any restlessness or any tension that it's holding.
Maybe you want to tense your shoulders or squeeze your hands as you inhale,
To bring tension deliberately into the body and release everything on a sighing exhale.
Just do what your body needs to do in this moment and when you're ready,
Lay yourself down for rest.
This practice will take the position of Shavasana,
Corpse pose,
Lying on the back with the spine straight and the arms and legs a little away from the midline,
Palms facing the sky.
The pose of surrender and receptivity.
But if that doesn't feel good to your body today,
Listen to your own cues,
Follow your own needs and allow your body's wisdom to show you your pose for rest.
We'll begin by feeling and sensing into the body,
Allowing ourselves to come into a deeper state of restfulness.
Bring awareness into the feet,
Feeling into the bones of the feet,
Their solidity,
Their weight.
Let this weight carry you deeper into the earth,
Melting down into the ankle bones and relaxing up through the bones of the legs.
Resting the cups of the knee sockets,
Moving up through the upper leg bones and settling into the pelvis.
Let the pelvis fall back into the earth,
Heavy,
Sinking.
As the pelvis releases,
Let the spine unwind,
Vertebrae by vertebrae,
Taking back up the spine,
Surrendering into the base of the head.
Your weight falls back to earth.
Surrendered.
As awareness comes now to the shoulders,
Take a soft and gentle breath into this space.
And on the exhale,
Release fully into the earth.
Letting that release unwind through the arms.
Arm bones settling,
Elbows resting,
Moving down and releasing through the wrists,
Surrendering the hands.
Your body resting.
There's space here,
There's time here for your body to let go.
Let awareness rest gently on your breath,
Smoothing and settling.
Gently watching the breath.
And now if you have a sankalpa,
Bring it into your awareness.
And if you're new to sankalpa,
Rest yourself into the space of your heart.
And ever so gently,
Ask your heart what it is most longing to feel.
Maybe I am safe.
Maybe I am supported.
I am loved.
I am cherished.
I am whole.
I belong.
Choose one statement that resonates most for you.
And repeat it now three times.
Affirming your heart's longing.
And now we begin the practice of yoga nidra by rotating our awareness through the physical body.
We'll move our awareness through 61 different points of the body.
And if you like,
You can imagine your body as if it is the night sky.
Seeing your body as this great space of darkness into which we will paint bright white points of starlight.
In every place we bring our awareness,
A star will appear.
Rest deeply into the body,
Your body as the night sky.
Let awareness come to the centre of the eyebrows,
The third eye.
See white starlight in the third eye.
White starlight in the centre of the throat.
Starlight in the right shoulder.
The right elbow.
The right wrist.
Starlight in the tip of the thumb.
Second finger.
The third finger.
The fourth finger.
The fifth finger.
White starlight at the wrist.
At the elbow.
At the shoulder.
Starlight in the centre of the throat.
In the left shoulder.
The left elbow.
The left wrist.
Starlight at the tip of the thumb.
The second finger.
The third finger.
The fourth finger.
And the fifth finger.
Starlight at the wrist.
At the elbow.
At the shoulder.
Starlight in the centre of the throat.
A star appears in the space of the heart.
A star appears at the right nipple.
And back to the centre of the heart.
A star appears at the left nipple.
And back to the centre of the heart.
A star appears at the solar plexus.
And the centre of the lower belly.
A star in the right hip.
The right knee.
The right ankle.
A star at the tip of the big toe.
The second toe.
The third toe.
The fourth toe.
The fifth toe.
A star at the ankle.
At the knee.
At the hip.
The centre of the lower belly.
A star appears in the left hip.
The left knee.
The left ankle.
The tip of the big toe.
The second toe.
The third toe.
The fourth toe.
And the fifth toe.
A star at the ankle.
At the knee.
At the hip.
A star appears at the centre of the lower belly.
In the solar plexus.
A star glowing at the heart.
At the centre of the throat.
Returning to the star at the centre of the eyebrows.
Feel now all those points of starlight.
Lighting up the night sky of your body.
Rest here.
The sky.
Become aware now that as you breathe in the stars glow brighter.
And as you breathe out they fade.
Glowing brighter with the inhale.
Fading backwards with the exhale.
Watch this dance of light and breath.
Peacefully surrendering to breath.
And we'll move now into an exploration of opposite sensations in the body.
Allowing different emotional states to be experienced.
In the safe container of this practice.
Allowing a balance to be formed in the experiencing of opposites.
Equilibrium.
To begin with the feeling of being scattered.
How does it feel in your body when your attention is scattered?
In disarray.
Rest into the body and allow the sensations of being scattered.
To arise and be experienced.
Peaceful awareness.
Now scattered releases completely.
Sensations passing through.
And how does it feel in the body when you are fully present?
Present.
You are fully present.
How does full presence feel in the body?
Allow yourself to feel fully present now.
Now let that release and we'll move into another pair of opposites.
How does it feel in the body when you're rushed?
How does it feel to be rushed?
To have no time.
No space.
What does it feel like in the body when you rush?
Now let rushing release completely.
Sensations passing through.
And we'll feel into the opposite.
How does it feel to the body when you slow down?
Slowing down.
Feel sensations of your body slowing down.
Having all the time in the world.
Lingering in spacious timelessness.
Awareness focuses in the space behind the eyebrows.
The screen of consciousness.
Visualize the following images.
Following along with the sound of my voice.
Just watching as the images rise and fall.
Effortless.
The blackness of space.
Stone roots of a mountain.
The sound of a piano through an open window.
Endless butterflies flitting through the sky.
A crocus poking through the snow.
Sweet light.
The infinity sign.
The tang of lemonade on your tongue.
Loving whispers.
A hurricane.
The blistering winds of a hurricane.
Passes.
And you find yourself seated on the banks of a wide,
Slow moving river.
Watching the water flowing smoothly past you.
Downstream.
Ground yourself here.
The earth is firm beneath your body.
You feel the imprints of your hands in the soil.
As you press your palms to the ground.
An ancient maple tree grows up your back.
And curves high overhead.
Shading your body in green light.
You are engrossed watching the sweet dance of the water.
Resting and waving gently before your eyes.
A cuckoo sings somewhere nearby.
You feel the flow of the water through your whole body.
The smell of clean rain.
You experience everything.
Lost in the moment.
And fully alive.
A flicker of rapid movement brings you back.
Mayflies are dancing and skittering above the water's surface.
Rushing lightly through the earth.
See the shimmering flash of a kingfisher.
All the while the earth holds you.
The ground beneath your palms is solid and warm to the touch.
Breeze and sunlight on bare skin.
You lay back and smile.
Open and aware of all experience.
Night falls,
Bringing its chill.
The sky is black and deep overhead.
Luminous darkness.
Clouds of light.
A connected web of stars.
Dazzling pinpoints of white light.
Every moment is an eternity deep.
The earth holds you.
The cosmos rides overhead.
There is a sound deep beneath you.
Slow,
Booming,
Deep.
Earth's heartbeat.
Your body synced to its drum.
You look up to the sky.
Vast timelessness.
Your soul remembers.
Your soul remembers.
Here in the space of eternity,
The words of your sankalpa return to you.
Your heart's deepest longing.
Your soul knows its truth.
Download it now,
Three times.
And now the practice of yoga nidra is coming to an end.
If you want to linger on in the practice and fall into a gentle and deep sleep,
You can do that now.
But if you're intending to carry on with your day,
It's time to wake up now.
Begin to bring your awareness into the physical body.
Noticing your breath.
Effortlessly flowing.
Your breath which flows through your whole life.
Connecting you beginning to end.
And in the mystery of this breath,
This one breath we all breathe.
Connecting you with every creature that has ever breathed.
Beginning until end.
Give thanks in this moment for the miracle of breath.
Which allows you to exist here on this earth.
Allow your breath to awaken you.
Growing deeper and stronger and more vibrant in your body.
Pull breath down into the feet,
Into the corners of the hands.
Swim breath through your skull.
Bring breath up and down the spine,
Enlivening you.
And when you're ready,
Begin to rotate your wrists and your ankles.
Maybe giving your body a little stretch.
Being gentle and playful in your movements back into the world.
When you're ready,
Bring yourself to your seat.
Place your hands over your heart.
Thanking yourself for the time that you've taken to nurture and care for all aspects of you.
Body,
Mind,
Heart and soul.
Take a moment in gratitude for your practice.
And this connection we all share as we practice.
I am deeply grateful for you.
Thank you for listening.
Wishing you the very best for the rest of your day.
Hari Om Tat Sat.
Namaste.
