Welcome to day 8 of A Course in Miracles.

This is an invitation today to be in the moment,

To be in your body,

To come back to you.

I know that our busy days can look like we don't have time for ourselves,

We don't have time to sit and meditate,

We don't have time to take a long bath or give to ourselves.

And what I know is that when I'm able to do this and to plug in,

That I can be so much more present to all of the beings in front of me.

You know,

When you meditate,

When you sit with your being like this,

It is as if time expands in a perfect way,

That you actually have more time for things than you realize.

So today's lesson is my mind is preoccupied with past thoughts.

You know,

We see our thoughts,

We feel our thoughts,

We constantly are engaging with them and everything that we see is a projection of our thoughts of the past.

You know,

Our mind is so identified with the past and every experience that we have and every object that we see,

Emotion,

Person,

There is an energetic field from the past that comes through and tells us what that experience is to be.

And when that is happening,

We are not able to be here right now in the moment.

The moment is where everything changes.

The moment is where you take control of your life,

Where you become proactive instead of reactive to every little thing that happens to you.

I know that when we are reactive,

It is as if our life is like an emotional roller coaster.

Something good happens,

We're amazing.

Something bad happens,

We're horrible.

Something good happens,

We're great.

Something bad happens,

We don't know how to deal with it.

And so what this conversation is about is undoing the old beliefs that no longer serve you,

That no longer serve you.

My mind is preoccupied with past thoughts and the mind will also be preoccupied with future thoughts.

And when we are somewhere in between imagining the future risks that could come out of a situation or you know being in the past when we're looking at a simple object and all of our sort of references come from that,

Then we cannot be our true whole empowered selves right here.

And what happens is those thoughts that oftentimes we say are realistic as we're weighing the risk maybe for a future endeavor,

We say it's realistic.

In fact it's not.

In fact your mind is blocked from truth when you are living in the past and in the future.

So what is truth?

The truth is that right where you are everything is perfect.

That right where you are there is an inexhaustive source of love,

Of joy,

Of harmony,

Of abundance.

The truth is that all of these thoughts that we engage in like I'm so broke I don't have enough money you know.

My partner's not doing what I want them to.

That these are all the thoughts that get in the way of the truth of saying this being in front of me is pure love and this being is reacting out of his or her experiences.

And where I am there is so much abundance and the more that I'm focusing on lack the more lack will manifest in my experience.

So this exercise is done closing your eyes and what we say is I seem to be thinking about.

So we close our eyes and we allow what's there to come to us whether it's an object,

An emotion,

Or a person.

What is it that you're thinking about?

For example,

I seem to be thinking about an argument but my mind is preoccupied with past thoughts.

I seem to be thinking about whatever it is.

I seem to be thinking about blank.

The noise in the street but my mind is preoccupied with past thoughts.

My mind says I am bothered by loud noises when I'm recording.

My mind says I don't like that my partner does this.

And all of these reactions come from past reactions,

Past conditioning.

So we begin to to deconstruct these in order to more presently fully be in the moment.

Do this three to four times today.

I seem to be thinking about blank but my mind is preoccupied with past thoughts.

I look forward to seeing you tomorrow.

Thank you for pointing this out. I know it but it's good to be reminded because we so easily slip back into past negative thinking πŸ€”πŸ˜”πŸ™
