Welcome to day four of A Course in Miracles.
Today's lesson is titled,
These Thoughts Do Not Mean Anything,
And the invitation is to take a deep breath,
Ground yourself in this moment,
And for just one minute,
Realize all of the thoughts that come into your head.
All of the thoughts that come into your head.
What types do you notice?
Are they unhappy,
Happy,
Good,
Bad?
What judgments do you have around the thoughts?
You will start to notice that actually there is such a mixture that it's difficult to really judge between good or bad.
But if you need to put labels good or bad,
That's totally okay.
And just begin to see the thoughts,
To feel them,
And think this thought about so-and-so means nothing.
This thought about me recording the perfect message means nothing.
This thought about me wanting to take a nap means nothing.
This thought about my chair being uncomfortable means nothing.
Apply this for one minute to whatever thoughts come to you.
Don't look for specific thoughts.
Don't try.
Just allow yourself to be in a conscious moment of realizing.
A really good theme for me is you know,
When am I being the judge of what is good or what is bad?
And something super important for me to always remember is that it's not always what it appears like on the surface.
So we talk about our thoughts being good or bad,
But good or bad are just,
It's just like a facade of something else that is happening underneath the thought.
It's the same with our actions.
So say for example you cross with somebody in the store and you know you almost bump into them and you know they get really mad and you know they say something to you that's really rude or you get in a fight with a co-worker or a parent if you're a teacher.
And the important thing is to realize is that the actions that are coming,
The thoughts that are coming from that is a shadow of what's really going on.
It usually is never about the situation.
If a person is in an experience of anger,
It usually has nothing to do with that specific experience.
So I just invite you to notice when your thoughts are going towards thinking that it is the ultimate truth.
When you are feeling like the judge and just seeing it and saying these thoughts do not mean anything.
By doing this exercise we are beginning to separate the meaningless,
The meaningless chatter and plethora of thoughts that the ego can consume us in by seeing it as the outside,
The meaningless as the outside.
We're separating the meaningless from the meaningful and knowing that the meaningful is inside,
That it's underneath all of those thoughts.
It's underneath all of those things that we might be so wanting to embrace but there's something deeper underneath all of this,
Something bigger,
Something that connects you to the infinite nature of your soul.
I thank you for being on this journey.
Know that we are going to an incredible place with this program,
That we are being led to deconstruct and something very beautiful is being constructed in its place as a change in perception,
A reverence for life,
For love,
For all that is.
I look forward to seeing you tomorrow.
