Setting an intention can really help keep a focused mind. Fasting from food is not always easy, but I find that setting an intention at the beginning of a fast and remind myself of that during the fast, helps me to keep on track. IMPORTANT: Fasting is NOT advisable for pregnant or breastfeeding women, anyone on medication for diabetes, or anyone who is currently or has a history of eating disorders.

Today I set an intention to fast from food.

Today I set an intention to fast from food.

I choose to fast to improve my digestion.

I fast to cleanse my whole digestive system.

I fast to allow my cells to repair and renew.

My choice to fast is one of self-love and care.

If I recognise feelings of hunger,

I only need to be aware of it being a physical sensation.

When I feel the presence of these sensations,

I will remind myself of my intentions and reasons to fast.

In this fast,

I choose to be mindful.

Mindful of my incredible body,

My wonderful mind and the beautiful world.

During the fast,

I choose to do something wonderful for myself as part of my self-love.

Something that will bring me a deep sense of contentment.

Go for a walk in nature,

Listen to a beautiful piece of music,

Take a wonderful,

Deep,

Long bubble bath.

Snuggle up with a book or sit in perfect silence.

My fasting will be a day of loveliness,

Not torture.

A day of self-loving,

Not self-flagellation.

This day I will remind myself of the goodness of the world and see the beauty and connectedness of others.

When I feel weakness during my fast,

I will remind myself of the health benefits for my physical body.

Improved metabolism,

Lower blood sugars,

Reducing inflammation,

Clearing out of toxins and damaged cells,

And the beneficial habit of practicing self-control.

Today I will be wonderfully sensitive to my soul.

Today will be a day of loveliness.

Today I choose to fast.

Enjoy.

❤❤❤ This is amazing. I listened just before going onto the office where there are snacks ( which happen to be vegan for a change) and my colleagues seemingly eating non stop yet complaining how hungry they are ...it can be a bit triggering . Perfect. And no mention of weight loss which I appreciated. I like the science backed facts too.

This is a beautiful reminder of the benefits of fasting! I will use this for setting my intention for a weekly 36 hour practice of fasting.
