For this meditation,
I'd like you to lay down and allow yourself to be comfortable and warm.
If you fall asleep,
That's fine.
You can listen to it again later.
But for now,
Just relax.
If you notice any areas of tension,
Just send your breath there,
Allowing your exhale to soften that area.
Take your attention to your breath,
Watching and listening to the breath.
Now imagine yourself standing at the edge of a lake,
Maybe somewhere you've been or in a picture,
And there is no one around.
Feel the warmth of the sun on your face.
You hear the insects and the birds and the sound of the lapping of the water against the edge of the lake.
There is a boat.
You climb in the boat and pick up the oars.
And you begin to row.
And as you do,
You count.
One.
Two.
Three.
And with each row,
You start to feel more and more relaxed.
Four.
Five.
Six.
With every row,
You become more aware of the hypnotic sound of the water gently lapping against the boat,
The sound of the dipping of the oars in the water,
And your breath.
Seven.
Eight.
Nine.
You hear the sounds of the birds in the sky.
You feel the warmth of the sun on your face,
And you feel so relaxed with each row.
Ten.
You stop rowing,
Laying down the oars,
And you lay down in the boat,
Using your jacket as a pillow for your head.
You feel so calm,
So relaxed,
Out here on the water,
Knowing you are safe.
The warmth of the sun on your face and body makes you feel so relaxed.
The breeze is soft and pleasant.
And you feel yourself being tenderly rocked by the water,
Knocking carefully against the boat.
You are being rocked.
Carefully.
Tenderly.
You look up at the sky and feel held.
What would it be like to fully trust this moment?
To trust your body?
To trust your environment?
To fully be in this moment and everything that is in it?
Can you allow this moment to be exactly as it is?
Can you trust this moment?
That this is your experience.
And in this,
You are held.
In this moment.
There is absolutely nowhere to go.
Absolutely nothing to do.
Just for now.
Just in this moment.
Only for you to be here.
Rocked and held by the universe.
There is nothing else in this very moment but for you to be here.
And to allow yourself to be rocked and held.
And with each breath you feel more and more relaxed.
Allowing yourself to fully be in this moment.
Trusting.
Just for now.
Everything will be there when you come back.
So just giving your nervous system permission.
That just for now.
Take a break.
Allowing it to switch off.
Just for this moment.
Just for a minute.
A little break.
Feeling the warmth on your face.
Listening to the lapping.
And the birds.
And your breath.
Rocked.
Held.
Trusting.
This moment.
And when you look up you notice it has turned to night.
And you see millions of stars above you.
Winking at you mischievously.
Happy for you.
For your rest.
And you know this is good.
This resting.
This letting go of everything.
In this moment.
Letting go of worries.
Of fears.
Of needing to control.
Just letting it go just for a moment.
Just to relax.
Just for a moment.
To just trust that you're okay.
Just in this moment.
And you decide it's time to leave.
You pick up your oars.
And with each row you begin to count.
Nine.
Eight.
The rowing is energising you and you realise you feel great after your rest.
Seven.
Six.
Five.
You feel alive and ready for your life and what comes next.
Four.
Three.
Two.
You are enjoying the feeling of this work.
It creates a wonderful sense of being alive.
And one.
You are back at the shore.
Feeling alert and alive.
And ready for what comes next.
As you climb out of the boat and pull it ashore.
You take a couple of deep breaths.
Celebratory breaths.
Thankful for the rest.
Where you allowed yourself to trust and be held.
Just for a few moments.
Thank you.
