During this 25 Minute Koan Practice we use a Koan or Spiritual Question to reveal how the mind works and move beyond this towards a true understanding of the nature of self and the universe. A Koan is a question that can only be solved through unity rather than separation. There is an answer to the question, in this case it is absolutely possible to know who you are.

Right now we're going to be beginning our Co-in Practice.

In Co-in Practice we use a question to provoke insight.

We propose a question and then we just remain very open and aware and allowing to whatever arises.

We just observe what comes up for us.

Let's begin now by getting comfortable,

Allowing an easy and natural alignment wherever we are be that sitting or lying down.

So being comfortable,

Resting the eyes and allowing the body to be soft yet aligned.

Tuning firstly into the breath and allowing the breath to deepen now.

Inhaling long and exhaling slow.

Inhaling long and letting go slowly.

Sensing that rising and falling,

Opening and releasing.

And staying with this deep breath for a few breaths.

Allowing a settling down now.

Allowing the breath to be free and natural but still aware of that gentle rise and fall.

Settling now into this relaxed state of awareness.

Being completely open,

Completely open and completely aware.

And on your next out breath asking silently within,

Who am I?

As you breathe in just looking deeply,

Looking deeply within,

Turning within and as you're breathing out now.

Who am I?

We're questioning and we're listening,

Really listening.

Who am I?

Who am I?

And feeling whatever comes up,

Feeling for the answer,

Looking for the answer.

Who are you?

Turning all of your senses to this question.

Who am I?

Who am I?

Who am I?

Who am I?

Being curious.

Being curious and open and allowing for the answer.

Who am I?

Who am I?

Breath by breath building your focus on this question,

In this question.

Who am I?

Breath by breath.

Who am I?

Who am I?

Who am I?

Who am I?

Who am I?

Who am I?

Who am I?

And all kinds of things may arise.

All sorts of things might come up,

Memories,

Theories,

Thoughts,

Images.

Just allow them,

Allow them to come.

And keep asking,

Who am I?

Being totally open and aware and allowing and pushing,

Who am I?

Breathing and asking.

Allowing and observing.

Tell me who you are.

Who are you?

Looking.

Who are you really?

Listening.

Asking,

Who actually are you?

And allowing.

Whatever wants to come can come.

Who are you?

Allowing this question to crystallise your focus.

Who are you?

Who are you?

Examining within.

Examining without.

You know who you really are.

You really are.

Asking,

Asking with your whole being.

Who are you?

Listening,

Listening with your whole being.

Who are you?

Who are you?

Who are you?

Building your focus.

Who are you really?

This question focusing and crystallising into a ball of doubt.

Who?

Who are you?

This ball of doubt,

Put this right down into your belly.

Looking,

Looking deep within.

Who are you?

Who?

Really sensing.

Who?

Really listening.

Listening deep within.

Who are you?

Tell me who you are.

Breath by breath,

Your focus building.

Who are you really?

Staying with the question.

And when the answer comes,

You'll know the truth of this answer.

You'll know the truth with all of your being.

All you need to do is ask.

Ask in a way that you really want to know.

And listen in a way that you really want to hear.

Who are you?

Continue steadily,

Tuning in for the answer.

Sensing with all of the layers of your senses.

Listening,

Listening out,

Listening in.

Tell me who you are.

Open and aware.

Pursuing,

Investigating.

Wanting to know.

Wanting with all your being.

Who is it that you are?

Who are you?

And there is an answer that's within your knowing.

And you'll know when you know.

You'll feel it and you'll sense it.

You will know who you really are.

Asking,

Who am I?

Staying with the question.

The most important question in the universe.

Throwing your whole being into the question.

Into the knowing.

Who are you?

Staying steadily,

Breath by breath with this practice.

Who are you?

Sitting within the question itself.

Who?

Who are you?

This question is the key to the door of enlightenment.

Who are you?

Your focus on this question will allow the opening of this door.

So focusing all of your being into this question.

Wanting to know.

Wanting to know who you really are.

Keep investigating.

Who am I?

And as we come to the end of this sitting meditation period,

You can sway your body gently when you're ready from side to side.

Taking a few moments to come back into the body.

Sensing the body in the space around you.

But this question,

It can go with you into your life.

In busy times,

It may be there just in the background.

And in quiet times,

You might want to bring this question forward.

If you continue to keep this question with you,

It is absolutely possible that very soon,

Perhaps sooner than you think,

The whole universe will open up to you.

And you will be able to see very directly,

Very clearly,

And without doubt,

Who you really are.

Very good, consistent, gentle and insistent focus on the koan “who am I?” I will certainly come back to this one, and have a look at others by this superb voice!

Excellent grounding and meditation using the breath to ground into who you are. Could have used a little more space between the question. I will be using this meditation/ Investigation multiple times. Thank you

Such a simple and profound practice. Who am I? The answer will come. Stay with the practice and the question. Follow it to the end. It will come.
