
Mindfully Happy Zen Series - Naitan Energy Flow
This is an energy practice believed to have been taught by Bodhidharma, the Indian monk who brought the Zen tradition and lineage to China.

Welcome to this energy transformation meditation.
Now this practice is believed in the Zen tradition to have been taught by Boddhidharma,
The Indian monk who brought the Zen tradition and lineage to China.
He was a great traveler and adventurer on the outer level and also a great meditator.
So finding your normal meditation positions,
Swaying the body just a little side to side to find that natural balance point.
And forwards and backwards movement to find that natural drawing up of a balance point and settling down drawing in some bigger deeper breaths to begin with.
And resting the eyes down noticing that deepest point that the breath reaches.
And allowing everything all of your attention to just drop down into the belly.
And allowing everything to drop down releasing the breath and allowing it to be natural and deep and free.
And focusing your awareness,
Your attention on the belly.
Being really aware of the belly.
And sinking down into that awareness.
Just sinking down,
Sinking and resting down in that feeling of breath in the belly.
And remembering that full powerful quality that you've been able to establish in your Hara.
Moving into that powerful full quality in the Hara.
Just by placing your attention here by resting your attention here.
And feeling how that powerful quality in the belly feels.
Feeling into that.
Moving into that.
And just focusing as much awareness as you can in the belly.
And as you do so you have a really solid strong basis to the Hara.
Focusing your awareness on this sensation of solidity and strength right here in your centre.
And resting in this strength.
Resting in this solid feeling.
Now we're going to be working with the energy quality in the body.
And it's important to recognise that where your mind and your intention goes the energy follows.
So just as you bring your mind into the belly very naturally this allows things to charge up energetically.
And as you connect with that very powerful very full very solid feeling in the belly.
Very often you might feel it start to get warm.
So focusing resting your awareness here in the Hara in the belly.
And as you do so you may feel a warm feeling developing.
Sometimes almost hot.
And very often you might feel it start to get warm.
You may start to feel that sense of charging up a tingling a movement in the belly.
It doesn't matter whether in this moment you feel that or not just bringing your awareness here resting your awareness here in your centre.
Now in the energetic mapping of the East Asian medical system and also spiritual system this area your centre is like your battery.
It's like an area that you can recharge with energy.
And as you recharge this centre with energy it in turn recharges your whole system.
So bringing your attention here and as you do so it very naturally recharges.
And as your battery starts to come up to full charge just through your attention and your breathing down in the belly very naturally it's like you're filling a pot.
And as you fill that pot and it becomes fuller and fuller more and more charged more and more solid.
It's like the pot begins to overflow and the energy begins to overflow.
So as your belly is nice and solid now letting the energy overflow into your tail into the tip of your spine.
And now as you breathe through your nose imagine that you're breathing energy up through your spine.
And as you breathe out imagine that you're breathing it down the front.
That's it.
Just a very soft natural breath.
Just using your breath to guide your attention which in turn guides that energy.
Breathing up your spine and breathing out down your tail again.
Breathing up and out and down.
Making a circle.
Breathing in and up your spine and down to your tail again.
Very naturally easily just allowing yourself to feel and to experience exactly what you feel.
Maybe sometimes things get warmer in your spine or maybe you feel a flowing quality.
Some people hear things flowing or maybe feeling a flowing quality or hearing a roaring quality.
Just whatever is right for you.
You may be able to sense something or nothing at all just being there for this experience as you breathe in up your spine and out down your tail again.
Breathing up your back and breathing out over your head over your front making a very natural circle.
And as your awareness travels in a circle you may find any places that seem tight or restricted and just becoming aware of that area just smiling into that area to help things ease and open.
Breathing circling easing and opening.
Breathing in that very natural circle up and down.
Breathing and circling.
And as you get more relaxed and more comfortable allowing a quality of movement or flow in that circle to get even faster faster than your breathing.
Breathing and circling and allowing that movement that flow to become faster.
The way that when you pedal a bike the wheels can go much faster than the pedals.
So just allowing allowing the breathing to be in that circle but at the same time anything that wants to rush much faster can be completely unrestricted and free.
And as you allow this circular quality to get established in your system you're uniting your root that very lower very physical very animal consciousness with the highest consciousness right up high.
And you're uniting in both ways with this coming up and sinking down.
It's moving upwards and sinking downwards and everything unites.
You're just allowing allowing it all to open up allowing your whole being to integrate.
Just allowing.
Flowing.
Unrestricted.
Flowing.
And the more you relax the more you allow yourself to be aware the more you may be able to sense.
Maybe you can sense things being very free flowing or maybe not just being there for whatever arises.
Simply allowing things to be as they are.
Allowing things to flow freely.
Just feeling.
Exploring.
Seeing exactly how things are for you right now.
In this moment.
And right now.
Circling and flowing.
And particularly being aware of places where things can open even further simply aware how are things for you right down in your tail.
How are things for you in your heart.
Feeling exploring seeing.
How are things for you right now.
Can you open even more deeply in your solar plexus.
Simply noticing and allowing.
Allowing life to flow freely through.
And the more you let go the more you relax the freer things can flow.
Becoming aware aware of how everything is a flow.
Everything is a flow.
So allowing yourself to just sink to just deepen to just move into this flow.
Breathing in up your back.
And out down your front.
Circling and flowing.
Feeling and exploring.
Circling and flowing.
And very gently very gently bringing your awareness down again into your belly into your horror.
And allowing everything to settle to settle there for a moment.
Settling down.
And swaying your body side to side a little if you would like.
Having a stretch.
And congratulating yourself to allow the energy of your body and of your life to flow freely in this way.
Filling up your lungs and in your own time opening your eyes.
