Let's begin by bringing our attention and awareness to our body and breath,

Allowing your body to relax a little and then focusing on your breath for a few moments to settle any movement and in this practice exploring how the past affects the present Let's begin by asking ourselves,

What's going on for me now?

And seeing what thoughts,

Emotions and physical sensations from the past remain here in the present using curiosity and beginner's mind as if you've never explored the past in the present in this way working through your body,

Noticing held areas of tightness and tension acknowledging feelings and emotions that you may be holding in your body from past moments if it helps,

Naming the emotion,

Noticing where it's resonating in your body and acknowledging what the emotion is telling you then noticing thoughts from the past that are still playing out in the present maybe limiting beliefs about your self-worth,

Your situation,

Your abilities imagining that the present is like a moving crest of a wave what's in the body of water from the past that is propelling the wave forward?

How far back in the past are the thoughts,

Emotions and learned habits in that body of water?

From today,

Yesterday,

Last week,

Last month,

In the past year or even longer significant past events,

Relationships,

Your childhood remaining fully aware of your body as you explore the past in your present for a few moments seeing if you can become aware of a default feeling or mood that you habitually bring with you from the past into each moment and as far as you can,

Acknowledging and letting go of limiting feelings and beliefs about yourself and without changing anything,

Becoming aware of your facial expression maybe your resting face,

Noticing the sensations on your face as you hold this expression then relaxing the muscles around your face and bringing a half smile to the corners of your mouth gently extending this smile to include your eyes as you take a few longer and deeper breaths as you slowly exhale and as you slowly exhale,

Taking a note of any insights that emerged as you explored your past in the present knowing that with awareness,

You have choices and options on how the past plays out in your present feeling stable and balanced,

Whole and complete and as we come to the end of this practice,

Maybe setting the intention to be more aware of the past in the present and whether it still serves you and others and see what difference that makes and when you're ready,

You can open your eyes
