Let's begin by bringing our attention and awareness to our body and breath allowing your body to relax a little and focusing on the breath for a few moments to settle any busyness or movement and now you're feeling a bit more relaxed and settled in this practice exploring the relationship we have with our body I'd like you to contemplate for a few moments on thoughts and beliefs you have about your body maybe recalling some self-talk you had about your body maybe how you like or dislike parts of your body or the whole of your body whether it's the right size and shape just seeing what comes up noticing whether the thoughts are harsh critical negative or are they kind caring and nurturing making a mental note of any insights that emerge then moving from contemplating thoughts and beliefs you have about your body to bringing your attention and awareness right down to the soles of your feet what we're going to do is a quick body scan from the soles of our feet moving up the body imagining filling up your body full of energised light as we move through to really focusing in on the soles of your feet using curiosity maybe noticing some tingling warmth and coolness some sensations of pressure and touch maybe there's some energy there as well really focusing in and then beginning to extend that awareness over the whole of your feet and past your ankles up your legs to your knees and from your knees to your pelvic area and your belly and lower back filling up your body with energised awareness and your chest and upper back your shoulders down your arms past your elbows to your hands fingers and up your neck your face all the way to the top of your head bringing the whole of your body into awareness appreciating the different systems keeping your body alive your breath circulation nervous system and see if you can view your body from the inside out your inner body not normally how you view your body in a mirror as you sense the light behind your closed eyelids and imagining the whole of your body filled with the same energised light full of energy and aliveness appreciating the miracle of your body and bringing gratitude for all that your body has done for you every day of your life and then holding that level of awareness of your body as we send some loving kindness to our body first by bringing to mind a favourite pet or child and it's easy to send loving kindness too to bringing that pet or child to mind and then saying internally may you be healthy may you be happy may you live with ease and then bringing these thoughts of loving kindness to your own body may I be healthy may I be free from suffering may I care for and look after my body may I be kind to my body may I experience a positive relationship and connection with my body and resting in full body awareness maybe becoming aware of a different appreciation and relationship with your body than you normally experience full of energy and aliveness feeling whole and complete and as we come to the end of this practice I'll be setting the intention to take this aware kind and nurturing relationship with your body into your day and week and see what difference that makes
