Hello,
This is Michelle Precourt and welcome to your pre-interview meditation practice.
Before we get started,
I'll explain why this is a valuable practice for you as a job seeker.
When we pause,
We take time for ourselves.
We may see things that we could not before.
I say this because when our mind is constantly cluttered or we are always doing,
There is little room for anything more.
Taking small,
Many pauses like meditation will bring benefit.
It will bring awareness.
It is this awareness that will allow you to notice and feel.
In the days before your interview,
Pause and ask yourself,
How do I feel about this interview?
You will likely feel anxious as there may be a lot riding on this interview.
You will also want to present your best self to the selection panel.
There are always ways to mitigate your anxiousness before your interview.
In the next five minutes or so,
I will guide you through a meditation practice that will help calm your interview worries.
I would like you to find a chair in your home that is similar to the type of chair you'd expect to sit at an interview.
If you do not have an office chair,
Sit in a kitchen or dining room chair.
Now sit tall and softly close your eyes.
Let's begin by noticing your breath.
Notice your inhales and exhales and the slight rise and fall of your chest and belly.
Just notice nothing needs to change.
Continue to breathe just as you are,
Keeping the focus on your breath.
Imagine yourself as you are now,
Sitting tall in your chair,
But now there are three people seated across the table from you.
This is the selection panel.
This is what you've been waiting for.
You are sitting tall with confidence.
Your shoulders are relaxed,
Palms softly placed on your thighs.
You are at ease.
Continue with your breath as you are,
Keeping the focus on your breath.
Noticing your inhales and your exhales.
Your shoulders are relaxed.
You are at ease.
You are sitting tall with confidence in front of the selection panel.
You are at ease.
Across the table,
One of the interviewers looks you in the eyes and smiles.
This brings you comfort.
You smile back.
This is a comfortable environment.
Your breath is soft.
You feel confident.
You are at ease.
Continue with your breath as you are,
Keeping the focus on your breath.
Noticing your inhales and your exhales.
Your shoulders are relaxed.
You are at ease.
You are in control.
You are ready to present your best self.
You feel confident.
You are at ease.
Continue to breathe just as you are,
Keeping the focus on your breath.
Slowly coming out of your practice,
Finding some movement in your body.
You feel confident.
You are at ease.
You are at ease.
