This meditation is a meditation inviting us to alleviate ourselves of fear.

It's a meditation that can be used for one place in our life where we experience fear that we can return to over and over again to help ourselves truly rid ourselves and release ourselves of any fears that captivate our attention.

So I invite us to just take a moment to take a deep breath.

Most meditations start with the breath because the moment that we focus in on conscious breathing,

Our brain,

Our mind starts to let go of the chitter chatter.

And when we are focused on breathing in and breathing out and consciously connected to the breath,

It allows us to become fully present.

Neurologically,

It also immediately sends signals through our whole body that we're safe and that we can relax.

This is an important state to be in as we take a look at our fears and begin to release them and let go of them.

And so let us just breathe easily,

Gently,

In and out.

And with each breath,

Feeling ourselves becoming more and more still,

More and more centered,

More and more present.

If there's any place in the body temple where there is stress or pain that is distracting,

Just breathe into that space.

If there's a thought that flies in to attempt to distract,

Just breathe into that thought and greet it with an inner smile and invite it just to stand aside for now.

If emotion begins to arise like that wave that comes from an ocean,

We just allow the wave to roll over us,

To acknowledge it,

To see it,

And to breathe into it and through it.

We just use our breath to become still,

To become centered,

To become present.

Breathing in and breathing out.

Breathing in and breathing out.

And our first task in alleviating fears and resolving our fears is to look right at them.

This may seem illogical because for many of us,

When we are in the presence of fear,

We want to avoid it,

We don't want to think about it,

We want to do anything we can except look right at it.

But here in this safe space where there's a part of us that is the wisest,

Most centered part of us,

We choose to look right at our fears.

And indeed,

As we breathe and continue to just breathe consciously,

I invite us to imagine ourselves at the very center of our being.

Wherever that is,

Some of us feel the center of our being in our gut,

Some of us in our head,

Some of us right in our heart.

Wherever it is,

It's perfect.

We just find ourselves breathing ourselves into that centered place,

Imagining our whole being now right there in that center.

And we remember that in this place,

No one else has ever been,

No one else can ever be unless we think about them or imagine the presence of them in this place.

And even then,

It's just a piece of imagination from our own perception.

This is our place.

No one has ever supported us in this place or harmed us in this place.

This is our place,

Our secret place of the most high.

And it is here as we imagine ourselves in this safe environment that we allow ourselves to look directly at a fear we have.

It might be a fear about our physical life.

It might be a fear about someone we love or being hurt.

It might be a fear that's something that's never happened to us,

But we're concerned it might.

It might be a fear of something that has happened to us and we're afraid it will happen again.

Whatever it is,

We allow ourselves to sit or stand or simply be in this safe inner space that is ours and ours alone and that fear shows itself to us.

It might play itself out on a screen for us.

It might be in the space as the feeling of fear that we have.

It might be our mind imagining the possibility of that fear manifesting itself in our life,

But we look right at it and we see it completely,

Totally.

We may even invite ourselves to see clearly where it has come from.

Is it from the media?

Is it from society?

Is it from our culture?

Is it from our faith tradition?

Is it from the people that we hang out with?

Is it from our family of origin,

Our family of choice?

Did someone invite us into this fear?

Did we take it on?

Is it from our experience?

Wherever it came from,

We might see the genesis of it as we look right at it.

And we stay open as we see this fear.

We stay present.

We continue to breathe.

We may even feel our feelings of fear rising up in our body,

In our heart space,

In our mind,

And we continue to breathe.

For in this place,

We are not in the midst of that fearful thing happening.

In this place,

We are in the midst of observation,

Observing that which we fear and looking right at it.

When we look right at something fully in a present moment like we're in right now,

There can be great wisdom.

There can be a great sense of even possibility beyond that fear.

Yet the willingness to see it for what it is and to say,

Yeah,

I've got that fear.

I'm afraid.

Fill in the blank.

To get present to something means that we then have the power to feel it completely,

To sense it completely,

To look at it completely,

And to make a choice about it.

And so in this meditation,

We are making a choice by even listening to consider the possibility of resolving this fear.

And so I invite us just to have this fear become a little bit smaller,

Maybe set it off to the side for just a moment.

We're not eradicating it.

We're not letting it go.

We're not pounding in its submission.

We are just allowing ourselves to have seen it,

Acknowledge it,

And now just feel it move off to one side.

If it's been playing on a screen,

Just see the screen go blank.

And in this moment where we've just looked right at our fear,

I invite us now to consider a time when we were extremely courageous,

Where we maybe felt the fear but did it anyway,

Where we took a risk or took a chance,

Where we step forward boldly.

It's courageous to do so many things in this human experience.

And I am certain that each one of us has had a moment when we felt courageous.

Sometimes we've spent a lot of time in fear,

And so we've talked ourselves out of our courage.

So it helps to anchor ourselves in a time in the past when we were courageous.

Again,

The screen may be playing that scene out in front of us.

We may be imagining the moment in our mind's eye.

We may be feeling the feelings,

Those powerful feelings that come from the combination really of a bit of fear,

And yet what wins out is our courageous intention.

And we step forward into something new,

Into something risky,

Into something that might even be challenging for us,

But we did it anyway.

And just breathe in that courage,

Utilizing our conscious breath now to breathe in and remember powerfully that moment of courage.

Allow the courage to fill every space of the body temple,

To fill up our heart,

To fill up the mind.

Allow us to be bathed in that courage,

Remembering it fully,

Completely,

Totally.

We are immersed in courage soup.

We are immersed in the atmosphere of our courageous presence.

And what is true is that if we have been able to be courageous at one time in our experience,

Or many times in our experience,

There's a high probability that we can do that again.

So feeling that sense of courageous energy permeating our being,

We may even be finding ourselves sitting taller,

Breathing stronger,

Feeling more empowered.

We stand in this secret place of the most high in our courage energy,

And we once again now turn towards that fear and scoop it into our presence,

Allowing ourselves to see that experience that we've been fearing,

But now through the eyes of our courageous energy,

Looking right at that fear and allowing ourselves to notice if we see it differently.

Maybe it's even that the tones of the colors that we see with it are shifted a bit,

Or maybe it's that ideas for how to walk forward boldly,

Even in the midst of having felt this fear up until now,

Begin to emerge.

Creative ideas begin to have their way with us.

Maybe it's that we feel this sense of motivation arising in us that can say,

Yeah,

I do feel a little fear about that.

I do feel a little uncomfortable about that.

I'm not sure what's going to happen.

I'm going to have to step forward in the unknown,

But I'm going to do it anyway because I am a courageous being.

I'm going to follow this pathway forward and be strong and courageous.

Maybe it's simply an affirmation,

A thought like that,

A motivation that now is present to the fear.

That in this state,

If that hasn't happened already,

I invite us to ask,

How can I resolve this fear utilizing my courage?

How can I resolve this fear utilizing my courage?

Just notice what begins to happen.

What begins to emerge from within and feeling any shifts,

Noticing any shifts and giving thanks.

We stand as a being flooded with courage,

Facing our fear.

And if nothing is happening,

That's fine.

This intention,

Simple as it may seem,

To be present to our fear with courage on board,

Well that's good enough.

Because as we end this meditation and move back into our life in a more awakened and conscious state,

We may find that creative ideas just flood our being or that resolution begins to have its way with us in some form or some shape or some thing that occurs in the world because we've chosen to merge our fear with our courage.

And so with great gratitude,

We continue to breathe that in and breathe that out and begin to now make our way back into that more conscious,

Aware state.

We give thanks to have spent this sweet time in this sacred space.

And we begin to breathe ourselves back into that awakened state,

Feeling our body temple more clearly,

Feeling the presence of that which is around us in our physical space,

Stepping back into a more awakened conscious state,

Prepared to move back into the world of form.

We just give thanks and release this meditation time,

Letting it go in faith and trust,

Knowing that if it takes returning here time and time and time again until we feel that shift occur,

That we are committed to doing that for all great experiences begin within,

All transformation begins within,

All resolution begins within.

And so we know that by giving this time to our soul,

Our essence,

Our own system,

Our own life,

That we've made a difference and we give thanks and we let this go and let it be.

And so it is.
