Great teachers from many spiritual traditions offer us wisdom on connecting with the spirit within ourselves.

As we consider these pieces of wisdom from great spiritual teachers throughout the ages and from around the world,

Take some time to contemplate each quote,

To visualize it as so and true for you.

In the Upanishads of India,

We are told,

That thou art.

That thou art.

That thou art.

Jesus said,

You can't find heaven if you look for it.

You won't ever look up and say,

There it is,

Nor will you look down and say,

There it is,

For the kingdom of God is within you.

You can't find heaven if you look for it.

You won't ever look up and say,

There it is,

Nor will you look down and say,

There it is,

For the kingdom of God is within you.

The prophet Mohammed said,

It is said that when you take one step towards God,

God takes ten steps towards you.

But the real truth is that God is always with you.

It is said that when you take one step towards God,

God takes ten steps towards you.

But the real truth is that God is always with you.

Brother Lawrence,

A Catholic mystic,

Taught the importance of practicing the presence of God.

He believed that practicing the presence of God meant bringing forth the qualities of love,

Of charity,

Of generosity.

When you visualize practicing the presence of God in your life.

Brother Lawrence encouraged us to practice the presence of God so emphatically that we would experience God being closer to us than our very breath.

Can you have an experience right now of God being nearer to you than your very breath?

Jaluddin Rumi,

A Sufi teacher from the Islamic tradition,

Famously said,

One went to the door of the beloved and knocked.

A voice asked,

Who is there?

He answered,

It is I.

The voice said,

There is no room for me in thee.

And the door was shut.

After a year of solitude and deprivation,

He returned and knocked.

A voice from within asked,

Who is there?

The man said,

It is thee.

The door was opened for him.

One went to the door of the beloved and knocked.

A voice asked,

Who is there?

He answered,

It is I.

The voice said,

There is no room for me in thee.

And the door was shut.

After a year of solitude and deprivation,

He returned and knocked.

A voice from within asked,

Who is there?

The man said,

It is thee.

The door was opened for him.

The voice from within asked,

Who is there?

The door was closed for him.
