So let's talk about digital overload.

Yeah,

Your mind racing,

Your phone buzzing,

A dozen tabs open and yet you can't quite focus.

Maybe your thumb scrolls without you even realizing it,

Or like me,

You reach for your device without knowing why.

It's like we're plugged in all the time,

But we're very rarely tuned in.

So let's just unplug,

Just for a few moments.

Start wherever you're at and take a deep breath in and a slow breath out.

Right now,

You might be listening to this on your phone,

But there's nowhere else to be but right here.

Our devices aren't the enemy,

But constant connection can crowd out our clarity.

Every ping or post or pop-up chips away at our attention.

And without a pause,

We forget how to rest,

Not just physically but mentally.

But we can bring some awareness to our day.

Today,

Try noticing the urge to check,

To scroll,

To respond.

You don't have to fight it,

Just notice it.

And then,

Come back,

Back to your breath,

To your body,

To this moment,

Whenever it is.

Just pause,

Feel what it's like to be free,

Even briefly,

From that pole of notifications.

As Pico Iyer once said,

The point of gathering stillness is not to enrich the sanctuary,

But to bring that calm into the motion of the world.

And it's a reminder that we can carry this presence with us,

Even into our digital lives.

So,

The next time you reach for your phone,

Maybe ask,

What am I really reaching for?

Good.

Thank you so much for joining me.
