Namaste.
This is Michelle Jane and this meditation is a rejuvenating breath meditation.
It's taken from the Stepping Stones to Meditation booklet which was written by Jennifer Hanning.
And you can do this meditation lying down or sitting comfortably in a cross-legged position.
Just ensure that your spine is straight and your body is completely comfortable.
Gently close your eyes and just begin to breathe really naturally and easily and bring your focus to the natural rhythm of your breath.
Breathing naturally and easily,
Watch the journey of each inhalation and each exhalation.
Breathing easily,
Breathing naturally,
Just watching the journey of your inhalation and your exhalation.
And then take a really deep inhale and as you exhale just release any withheld tension down into the floor.
Good.
And begin to really lengthen your breath using the grand yogic breath method.
Start to fill your lungs to capacity from the bottom all the way up to the top.
And then with each exhalation,
Empty the lungs completely from the top all the way down to the bottom.
Filling lungs to capacity from the bottom all the way to the top.
And then exhale and empty the lungs completely from the top all the way down to the bottom.
And then with each exhalation,
Making this your last one,
Filling the lungs all the way from the bottom to the top and exhaling,
Emptying the lungs completely from the top to the bottom.
And as you continue to breathe deeply and slowly,
Picture your heart and lungs working in partnership.
After each inhalation,
Feel your heart beating as it pumps freshly oxygenated blood around your body.
Imagine you can see the blood pumping through the arteries to every part of your body.
Visualize each fresh intake healing and regenerating any damaged or unhealthy cells in the body.
Breathing deeply and slowly.
Visualize each fresh inhalation absorbing healing,
Regenerating damaged or unhealthy cells in your body.
With each exhalation,
See the heart and lungs working together again releasing carbon dioxide,
Ridding the body of debris and negative energy as the breath flows out through the nostrils.
Exhale heart and lungs working together,
Releasing carbon dioxide,
Ridding the body of debris and negative energy as the breath flows out through the nostrils.
And keep the awareness of your heart and lungs exchanging old for new,
Bringing in freshness,
Letting go of staleness.
Awareness on your heart and lungs exchanging old for new,
Bringing in freshness,
Expelling staleness.
Making sure each breath is deep and smooth.
Keep giving your heart and lungs all the help you can to regenerate and rejuvenate your body,
To calm,
Restore and freshen your mind.
Breathe with total awareness.
Each breath is deep and smooth,
Regenerating and rejuvenating your body.
Breathe with total awareness.
And now allow your breath to return to a more natural rhythm and continue to witness each breath for a few moments.
Notice the relaxation in your body,
The calmness in your mind.
And as you prepare to end this practice,
Resolve to optimize your oxygen intake and distribute in your day-to-day life.
Namaste.
