Hi and welcome to Meditate with Michelle.
I'm Michelle Arakelian and I'm a Troper Center Certified Meditation Instructor.
I believe the greatest gift you can give yourself is the gift of meditation.
If you can think a thought,
You can meditate.
We have between 60,
000 to 80,
000 thoughts every day.
1.
2 thoughts every second and 95% of those thoughts are the same thoughts we had the day before.
When you meditate you are emptying the redundant and filling yourself with infinite possibilities.
The great thing about meditation is it's not about learning anything new.
It's about remembering who you are,
Your true self.
There's a common misconception that meditation is about forcing your mind to stop thinking.
You might say,
I can't meditate.
It's not for me.
I just can't stop my thoughts.
Well that's because it's impossible to stop your thoughts.
As Deepak Chopra says,
Meditation is not about forcing the mind to be quiet.
It is finding the quiet that is already there.
Thoughts are part of the process.
Meditation simply brings your awareness to the fact that you are not your thoughts.
You are the thinker of your thoughts.
As you meditate on a regular basis you develop what is known as witnessing awareness which allows you to observe your thoughts and feelings with greater objectivity.
You can think about your mind as a bright blue sky and your thoughts are simply clouds in motion passing you by.
You're not attached to your thoughts and you're not judging them.
You are the silent witness of your thoughts.
During meditation we take our awareness to quieter and quieter levels and once in a while we may slip into that space between our thoughts.
This is known as the gap,
The field of silence,
The field of infinite possibilities.
The gap between our thoughts is always there but our thoughts are moving so fast every day there's so much noise and chatter that we squeeze that space out of our lives.
When we meditate we use a mantra as a vehicle or tool to take us on an inward journey.
As we get interrupted by our thoughts we gently come back to the mantra.
We start to tap into our higher self,
Our inner guru,
Our inner intelligence.
Even in the midst of chaos,
Confusion and uncertainty we still have that underlying silence,
Stability and sense of calm that allows us to think and act clearly.
Meditation is a journey from activity into stillness and silence.
We are human beings not human doings and meditation is a time to just be.
Thanks so much for tuning in to receive your personal mantra and learn primordial sound meditation,
Deepak Chopra's simple and effective meditation method.
