When we're faced with uncertainty,
You need something to hang on to.
When you're faced with some uncertainty,
You need something to grasp.
You need some kind of guide.
And what's so important is to open up to receive connection with your soul and spirit.
Because one of the reasons that confusion can happen,
Let's say you have two job opportunities and you want to make a change,
And both of them don't feel right,
You know,
And you're confused which one to take.
I don't know.
That confusion can come from your soul because your soul can say,
Don't make a decision yet,
Slow down.
One of the positive things about confusion,
To slow down,
Be patient,
To pause,
Well,
It can be from your soul creating confusion because these two job opportunities that you think are the only two you have,
Well,
There's a third job opportunity getting ready to present itself to you in a couple days.
And it doesn't want you to shut down that door by having committed to another job and not even opening up to the possibility.
So your soul can run confusion to slow you down,
To pause.
And so it's so important not to make decisions when you know that these aren't,
What's the worst of the two bad ones?
That's not a decision to make.
Wait,
Have patience.
And confusion can often come in from your soul saying that,
Hey,
The law of attraction is happening,
Things are coming in,
You need to be patient,
You need to slow down.
Don't be so rushed to make a decision.
Again,
The ego that says,
I got to decide which this job is and I'd rather have a job that I don't like than wait and be patient for another week to let the right job come in.
So confusion can be a spiritual tool that your soul uses,
That your higher self uses to attempt to have you slow down and pause and wait to be patient.
And that's one of the positive things that confusion can offer you.
So that's where you bring trust into the situation.
I create my own reality.
And I want a great,
Fantastic job,
So I'm going to sit and choose two jobs that are mediocre that don't really appeal to me.
Well,
What happened to me creating my own reality?
Maybe that manifestation hasn't quite precipitated yet.
The opportunities and the timing is not quite right,
And I need to be patient.
So I'll go into confusion to slow myself down,
To pause.
It's better not to make a decision for two bad jobs or two,
You know,
Mediocre jobs when I know I've been programming,
You know,
Perhaps taking that course I did on the manifesting a new job using the law of attraction.
You did all the steps and sometimes you need to let it come in,
Know the universe is bringing it to you.
And you need to be patient sometimes.
But you can allow that and recognize,
Yeah,
Confusion isn't just bad and wrong.
Confusion is a state of being alive.
And it is a state of questioning and doubting.
See,
Self-doubt isn't always a bad thing either.
When you're functioning from your ego's control games,
It's good to doubt yourself to say,
You know what?
I'm in my ego right now,
And I don't like it.
I need to doubt that this is the right way to behave.
I need to doubt that just because I did this for the last 35,
40 years means it,
You know,
It doesn't mean it's right and correct and it's going to lead me to what I want.
I need to have some self-doubt going on.
That's okay.
Self-doubt is not a bad thing in and of itself.
Some techniques,
Some practical,
Grounded,
Down-to-earth things that you can do to help you to change your relationship with confusion and to move through it,
To move beyond it into greater clarity.
Some techniques to help you to move beyond confusion and to release self-doubt.
The first one is,
It goes back to what I've talked about in previous classes on your spiritual grace.
And one of your spiritual graces is you can always choose,
Who am I going to be in the present moment?
You can't always choose what you're going to do.
You have to do certain things.
You have to go to work.
You have to be there on time.
You have to pay taxes,
Blah,
Blah,
Blah,
Blah.
There are certain things you just have to do.
But who am I going to be while I'm doing those things?
It's something that you always get to choose.
It's always your choice.
Who am I going to be?
And that's important when confusion arises.
Am I going to be a person who has to have an answer,
Even if it's wrong?
Am I going to be a person who's going to do everything to avoid and to ignore their emotions?
Am I going to be a person who's trying to control everything?
No,
I need to be a person who trusts themselves.
I'm going to be a person who's trusting life.
And when confusion arises,
Who am I going to be?
It's the first thing to ask yourself.
I'm going to be,
Am I going to be disempowered,
A victim,
Weak,
Fearful?
Or am I going to be empowered,
Loving,
Trusting,
And open?
Which one?
I get to choose that.
That choice will change the energy you bring into the confusion in your consciousness.
It will change the way you relate to the confusion,
And thus the confusion can start to quell.
Because when you bring fear and self-doubt into it,
It just gets louder.
But when you can bring trust and hope,
And coming from a position of,
I'm a powerful person,
Knowing that this confusion isn't necessarily bad and wrong,
Knowing now,
After listening to this class,
That confusion has a lot of positive benefits.
Maybe I need to slow down and pause and be more patient.
So who am I going to be is the first technique to think about and to choose.
Who am I going to be right now?
And this is a little tip and a suggestion.
One of the things that I can choose is,
Okay,
I don't know what to do.
I don't know what decision to make.
I don't know where to go.
I don't know,
Blah,
Blah,
Blah.
You know,
All the uncertainty,
The unknown.
You can choose to be a person who's about to know.
I don't know right now.
I don't know exactly what job I'm going to take,
But I don't know what it's going to be,
But I'm going to be a person right now who's about to know.
I'm going to be,
Rest in the confidence that I'm about to know,
That the universe is going to clarify this,
And I'm going to get direction,
And I might do some other techniques to help me move forward.
But I right now am going to be a person who's about to know,
Not a person who needs to know even if it's wrong,
To come up with some answer just to fill in the blank so I can not think about it anymore,
Which is what the ego would like to do.
Be a person who's about to know.
But who am I going to be,
Empowered or disempowered?
Am I going to be loving and trusting or am I fearful and controlling?
Well,
If I don't be loving and trusting,
I end up oftentimes being fearful and controlling.
But who am I going to be?
First thing to ask yourself when you're feeling confusion,
When it's starting to rise up,
And that is something that is the first technique.
It's more of a shifting of your perspective.
The second technique is to stop and to pause,
And as there's confusion coming up,
And I want you to do this instead,
Is to ask yourself,
What can I learn from this confusion?
What can I learn about this self-doubt?
What can I learn versus what can I reaffirm?
Because when you reaffirm something,
It's like,
Oh,
I already know.
I know what's going on here.
I'm confused and this always ends up in self-doubt and I have a lack of humility.
I go into,
You know,
This always happens to me.
I go into reaffirming.
You know,
Stop and say,
What can I learn from this?
Maybe I need to learn to be more courageous.
Maybe I need to learn to open up to greater humility,
To let things be different.
Maybe I need to learn to trust my higher self,
My soul more.
So,
By this second technique is,
What can I learn versus just what can I reaffirm?
To reaffirm is to go back to what you've always done.
I need to learn something different.
I want to do it differently.
I want to shift my perspective.
And this second is another second way to unplug the intensity of confusion in your life,
To help you to move beyond it.
That's the second technique.
The third technique is to journal,
To self-reflect,
To slow down,
To pause.
As I've talked about,
That's an important part of resolving confusion.
But journaling,
Journaling can help you get in touch with yourself and your feelings and what's going on.
Journaling is a way for you to listen to yourself.
It's a way to listen to yourself.
You have your thoughts going 90 miles an hour in all different directions.
When you slow down to write down your thoughts,
You slow down your thinking.
And when you slow down your thinking,
You tap into your subconscious mind.
So,
By journaling and thinking and writing about what's going on with you,
That gives you a way to express some of your thoughts on the paper,
Which reduces the confusion in your mind.
When the thoughts are going 90 miles an hour,
And often when somebody's confused,
They get to go into the monkey mind,
Which I talked about a couple of weeks ago.
On the monkey mind,
You have the negative self-talk.
But as you write about it,
As you express it,
You slow it down,
And you can clear some of the confusion by journaling.
And doing it on a regular basis.
Julia Cameron wrote a book,
Which I thought was brilliant.
I actually did it years ago.
The book,
The Artist's Way.
And she talks about morning pages.
And I did that many years ago,
And did the morning pages.
Every morning,
You write three pages.
You aren't done until you fill up the three pages.
So,
It's a little bit of a discipline,
Because sometimes you have no clue what to write down.
So,
What you write down is,
I have no clue what to write down.
You write something down.
The Artist's Way talks about morning pages,
And that's about how to get unstuck from your creativity.
What do I journal about?
Me and my confusion.
Journal about,
Think about it.
Give it energy.
Give it attention.
Me and my confusion.
What is this all about?
When do I tend to get confused?
What's at the source?
What's beneath it?
Is it self-doubt?
Is it that I'm not patient and pausing long enough?
Is it my ego's control?
To journal,
To reflect.
So,
When you can become conscious of it,
You can take your power back.
And that can pull the energy out of confusion to produce greater clarity.
Another thing you can do when you're journaling is to brainstorm new possibilities.
Because one of the things that confusion is,
Is that I'm keeping myself limited and bound by the control of my ego,
Where I'm not opening up to new possibilities.
Because the ego's afraid of something different and new.
So,
Let me open up and brainstorm about some new possibilities of what could happen here.
You know,
You're looking for the two jobs,
As I mentioned.
Maybe I could brainstorm about starting your own business.
Brainstorm,
Get outside of your comfort zone to expand possibilities.
And just by expanding possibilities,
You change reality.
Hear that.
To understand the nature of change,
There's possibility.
Everything's possible in life,
All the spans of potentials.
But then you have your belief systems,
Your beliefs,
Your attitudes,
Your thoughts,
And your feelings,
Which create your set of possibility.
So,
Your set of possibility that overlaps upon all possibility,
Your set of possibility that overlaps all possibility becomes your probability.
Meaning,
This is probably what's going to happen,
Because you keep yourself contained in your belief systems of what's possible,
In your attitude,
Your beliefs,
Your thoughts,
Your feelings,
And what's possible for you becomes probable.
And out of probability precipitates actuality,
What actually manifests.
So,
When you expand your possibilities personally,
When you expand your beliefs and attitudes,
Thoughts,
And feelings to all that is possible,
What can actually manifest is greater.
When you hold a belief that,
Oh,
This person will never change,
And you can open up to the possibility that,
Yeah,
Maybe they can change.
Maybe I can change the way I relate to them.
And it opens up to a new possibility.
A new actuality can fall into manifestation.
But if I'm keeping it rigidly locked in place,
Then it can't happen,
Because you have to expand your possibilities.
And that's how reality works.
There's all possibility,
And then there's your set of your personal possibilities that you overlay against all that is possible.
And out of that,
That becomes probable.
And from the probability manifests the precipitation of actuality of what you manifest.
So,
Just by expanding possibility,
You expand your personal probability.
And out of that probability pool,
Then,
A new actuality can manifest.
This next step is good for those who are riddled in the control and the ego and know that they are.
There's nothing wrong with that.
Control's not bad and wrong.
It just doesn't work.
Your ego thinks it's in control,
But it doesn't ever work.
That's the problem with it.
And it's always a response,
The ego's response,
To try to attempt to make love safe,
To keep love from leaving,
To protect love.
I'm in control to try to keep love safe.
And here's the irony.
The ego does that to make love safe,
But it's the actual control that makes love want to leave.
What's causing the dysfunction in a relationship of me being so controlling is actually what's causing it to want to dissipate.
And I'm trying to keep it together,
And it's actually wanting to pull away.
If I can trust rather than control and allow freedom rather than control,
It's a whole different ballgame.
And so what the ego does then,
Whenever that doesn't work and the person leaves,
The next person comes along,
The ego says,
Well,
You know what?
I didn't control hard enough last time.
I got to control even more this time,
And that'll keep them here.
The ego's dumb.
The ego's very dumb.
It does the same thing.
It doesn't think,
Doesn't feel,
Doesn't question.
It just says,
I got to do it harder next time.
I didn't do it.
What?
Come on,
Folks.
You can all say this together.
I didn't do it good enough because I'm not good enough,
So I can never do anything good enough.
That's the immature ego.
I'm not good enough.
I'm not doing enough.
I'm not learning enough.
I'm not achieving enough.
I'm not enough.
And therefore,
It'll never work.
When you know that you're letting your ego control and control's an issue for you,
This fifth technique is to let life guide you,
To let yourself be in the unknown,
To be adventuresome,
To be courageous.
And there's a technique that I like to do from time to time.
It's really fun,
And I encourage you to do it.
It's fun because I'm not a control freak.
If you're a control freak,
It may not be so fun.
But it's about letting life guide you forward.
I just call it the let life guide you.
And that is make time one afternoon,
One evening,
Whenever.
And you're just going to go out,
And I live in a big city,
And if you live in the country,
It might be a little more challenging,
But you can still do it there.
But you want to go out and with no agenda.
I'm not sure where I'm going to end up.
I'm not sure where I'm going.
I'm going to go into the unknown,
Trusting life to guide me.
That's my intention,
Okay?
So then I walk out my street,
And I go out,
And I step out of my doorway,
And I look,
Okay,
The sun's shining this way,
I'm going to go that direction.
And I let the sun on my face,
And rather than going in the shade,
I'm going to let just the impulse.
And then I go up to the street corner,
There's a red light.
And I sit at the street corner,
And I,
Where's the crosswalk?
Is it this way or that way?
Whichever one's green,
I'm going to go in that direction.
I'm not going to choose ahead of time.
I'm just going to,
Oh,
It's turning green here,
I'm going to go this direction.
I'm going to cross the street and just let life kind of guide me.
Oh,
I notice this big sign down here.
I'm going to,
It caught my eye.
I'm going to go that direction.
Then I'm going to go down the street,
And then all of a sudden,
A bus pulls up right in front of me.
Oh,
I'm going to let life guide me.
I'm going to jump on this bus and see where it takes me.
Without any agenda,
Without any control,
But trusting that let life guide you.
That's a fabulous technique to get out of control,
But also to build courage,
To look into the unknown,
And to explore the community you live in.
Places you may never have ever gone to can show up.
So let yourself be guided by life,
And that technique can help you to move beyond confusion because the part of you that is trying to control is what's producing confusion.
When you let go of the control,
The confusion can often lift.
So that is the fifth technique that I want to share with you.
The sixth technique,
It's about changing the way you relate to chaos.
Start to learn to dance with chaos.
To learn to dance with chaos is important.
There's lots of ways to learn to dance with chaos because chaos isn't negative.
Again,
Just like confusion,
People think of chaos as something bad,
And all of societies are to avoid chaos,
Right?
We just can't not have a street light,
That everybody,
The traffic would be chaotic.
We've got to have it organized and orderly,
And there's value in that.
I'm not saying it's not valuable,
But don't throw chaos out as being always negative,
Which is what most people are conditioned,
Because one of the emotions called joy is chaotic.
It's a chaotic,
Effervescent,
Bubbling energy that comes up and spills out of you.
It's a very dynamic,
Masculine energy,
Joy is.
Happiness is very peaceful,
Very calm,
Very quiet.
It's feminine.
But the dynamic energy of joy is chaotic by nature.
So to say joy is bad and wrong is not true.
When somebody throws you a surprise party,
Your 40th birthday party,
You're coming home,
And all of a sudden,
There's all your friends that are gathering.
All that chaos.
Oh my God,
I didn't expect this.
I had plans to do this tonight,
And it's totally changed in the last minute.
Unexpected changes.
All that chaos.
It can be very delightful.
It can be very joyful.
So change your relationship with chaos,
Which is a secret to mastering the art of change.
There's more details to it,
But I've talked about it in other classes.
But that's another component specifically that can help you to move beyond your confusion,
Is to change the way you relate to chaos.
Change the way you relate to confusion.
Change the way you relate to chaos.
Be willing to trust yourself as you go into the unknown.
Be willing to know,
Hear this,
Be willing to know that you are loved by your higher self,
By your soul and spirit,
And to let yourself receive that love.
To be guided,
To trust that you are loved.
Being loved by all that is.
Being loved is the sixth component,
Is changing the way you relate to chaos.
The final and seventh one is a guided meditation that you can do when you're in the throes of chaos.
You can do this guided meditation.
Once you're relaxed,
You count down maybe from five or seven to one,
And you imagine yourself opening your eyes and you're in this barren desert.
Barren.
All you see is flat sand.
Not hills,
Not a desert full of life,
But that Sahara Desert,
Which is just pure sand,
Hot sand.
It's high noon.
The sun is right above you.
It's hot and it's flat.
And you look around and you do a 360 and everything looks the same.
There's no distinction.
You look around and you have nowhere to go.
You don't even see your foot tracks getting there because you just appeared in the middle of this desert.
So you can't even see which direction you came from.
But you're here and you're looking around and you're like,
I don't know what to do,
Which is what the feeling confusion often engenders.
So you want to bring that feeling and engender it in the meditation because you're going to move beyond it.
You're going to shift it.
So you sense yourself in this barren desert and you're looking around and you're like,
I don't know where to go and what to do.
So you start to meander.
You just start going in different directions,
Not sure if this is the right direction.
You can't even tell where the east and west is because the sun is directly above you.
It's high noon.
So you can't tell the east or the west.
So you have no sense of direction.
You just meander.
You wander.
And as you go out there in the desert,
You start to feel the uncertainty.
You go into the feeling because what you can feel,
You can heal.
See,
Remember what you resist persists.
So you don't resist it.
You feel it.
You embrace it.
Because you're more powerful in uncertainty.
You're more powerful in self-doubt.
So you feel.
You let your self-doubt come up about the situation you're in.
You let your self-doubt,
Your frustration.
I don't know what to do in this situation in my life,
This area of my life with my relationship or with my job or whatever.
And you just go into this desert and you start wandering.
You start feeling those feelings.
And as you're walking and not sure and turning directions and looking back and not sure,
You're just in this space of meandering with no direction.
Not sure what to do,
Which is what confusion is.
So you create this in your meditation with the intention of moving beyond it,
Which you will do.
And then what happens is the wind starts to kick up.
The wind?
Yes,
This invisible force.
As this wind starts to kick up and sand starts to blow,
Oh,
It's irritating.
I feel the sand on my face and I feel the pressure.
I try to turn and avoid it and it keeps coming.
It's creating this dust storm,
This wind storm all around you.
And you're feeling yourself getting so confused and you're in the chaos here.
You're creating chaos,
Creating that energy of chaos,
Bringing it up.
Rather than waiting for it to come to you,
You bring it up and out of you.
You feel it.
You express it.
You feel it coming up and you feel chaotic and you don't know where you're going.
The wind storm's getting bigger and bigger.
It's like a cyclone,
A dust storm.
And it's hurting,
The sand on your face,
The heat from the sun.
You're sweating.
It's sticking to your face and you're just swirling and swirling and going faster and faster.
And then what's going to happen?
Let this happen spontaneously.
As you ask for help,
Oh,
Help me.
Help me,
God,
God is all that is.
Help me,
My soul and spirit.
Help me move beyond this confusion.
And with that asking,
You're either going to spin up into the light or down into the earth.
You're going to feel yourself evaporate,
So to speak,
But you're going to lift up into the light or you're going to ground down into the earth,
Depending on what you need in this moment to help you to move beyond confusion.
Do you need more grounding?
Do you need more anchoring?
Is part of the confusion because you're up here in your head too much and you're not grounded and connected to your body?
So if that's the case,
Then that confusion is going to pull you down into the depth and the darkness and the dankness of the earth to settle ground.
Or if you're in this confusion chaos and you're too worried about details and you're too trying to control everything in the earth,
It might pull you up and out into the light,
Into the expansiveness to receive the light of clarity,
To pull you up or down.
And again,
Let it be spontaneous.
And in the meditation,
I guide it just that way,
To let you decide and feel.
And you'll feel it.
It'll happen.
Your soul will guide you.
Your soul will pull you up or pull you down if you allow it.
You'll feel a sensation of it.
And then there's a time of just being in that space for a while,
You know,
Three or four or five minutes.
Just letting yourself float in the light or grounded deep into the earth.
You're going to be in the darkness or you're going to be in this bright white light,
Right?
Either one.
Dark is not bad.
Don't think of it as all dark is bad and light is good.
Don't do that to yourself.
You need more grounding in substance or you need more light and expansiveness.
It's not.
.
.
You need to balance of both to be balanced.
You need both,
But you're out of balance.
That's why you're confused.
And so if you're too grounded,
You need to pull up out of the energy into the light.
Or if you're too up in the light,
You need to ground yourself in the earth.
That's going to bring you into balance.
So don't look at it as,
Oh,
One's good and one's bad.
No,
They're not.
You are light and substance.
You have a physical body substance.
And you have the spirit and light that is your being.
You're in this white space or in this black space,
Either one.
And you see a blue circle,
A blue circle forming in front of you,
A circle shape.
And you're curious about it.
And you step back and you're looking at this blue circle and you're like,
Wow,
Isn't that interesting?
And it just came from out of nowhere.
It's like appeared out of nowhere.
And then all of a sudden you look at that blue circle with curiosity,
With courage.
And as you look at it,
It starts to morph and change.
It starts to become three-dimensional.
A flat pancake circle starts to become three-dimensional and it turns into a spiral.
It turns into this spiral.
The circle breaks free from its edge and moves up into a spiral,
Where the circle is then now spiraling into this spiral energy,
Three-dimensional from a flat surface.
So here it was flat.
It kind of turns on its side and becomes this,
How I described it in the meditation,
Is this spiral of energy.
And then you go towards it.
You're drawn towards this spiral.
And as you get close to the spiral,
From the top of that spiral peak,
There's this golden yellow light that comes down and around,
Enveloping you inside this blue spiral.
And it's moving.
The spiral is slowly moving.
Just like when I see a spiral moving,
It's moving.
It's got a dynamic energy to it.
You're curious about it.
You don't understand what it is.
It speaks to the unconscious,
Subconscious mind.
But then you step into its orb,
Which is this golden yellow light,
And you sense yourself inside like this cocoon.
And the blue is still there and the golden yellow is around you.
And you lose sense of your physical body.
You become energy.
You become the energy between the blue and the yellow.
You sense yourself becoming the energy of green.
Got it?
Blue,
Yellow,
Mixed together,
Becomes green.
So you're in this orb,
This cocoon,
And you become a green energy.
The blue disappears and the yellow mixes together with this spiraling energy.
And all of a sudden you're in this green cocoon of healing.
And you let that green light into every cell in your body.
You let yourself absorb it into your consciousness,
Into your mind,
Into your imagination.
You let yourself absorb it.
Breathe it in.
Feel it going in through the pores on the surface of your skin.
You become one with this green bubble of energy.
And that's where you sense your future self.
Your future self.
As you break out of this cocoon,
You open up and you're back into a beautiful place.
No longer the Sahara Desert,
No longer this flat space,
But you're in a beautiful space of peace and harmony.
And there,
Coming towards you,
Is your future self.
The future self that is clear,
That knows what to do,
That is empowered,
That is alive,
That is loving,
That is trusting,
That is free from the control of the ego.
That future self,
You sense them coming towards you.
You let yourself merge and become one.
You embrace and you blend your energy with the future you that has the answers,
That has the clarity.
And you just let that be the end of your meditation.
You may not have the answers right away what to do,
But you're going to allow it.
And then,
Coming out of the meditation,
Whether you do that as you go to sleep at night,
And just let yourself sleep through the night,
Whether you do it in the middle of the day or in the morning,
You want to get up after that,
Take a couple deep breaths and remind yourself,
I'm a person who's about to know what to do.
And now I've cleared out the energy,
I've aligned with my soul,
I've asked for help,
And I've done this powerful ritual to move beyond confusion into greater clarity.
That is the guided meditation that you can do.
If you took a couple notes,
You can do it on your own.
But as I mentioned,
It's a little complex.
It's a little,
You know,
It's got some complexity to it,
And I will create it as a guided meditation,
Repeating very similar to what I just described to you.
Oh,
And also,
I think I forgot that part.
In the part where you're in the cocoon,
I said some affirmations about change,
And I don't recall exactly what they were,
But there are some affirmations about,
You know,
I'm trusting myself and I'm allowing change,
And I move into the chaos with grace and ease,
And just some of the things that can help to,
You know,
Seed the subconscious mind about moving beyond confusion.
I should have written those down,
And I didn't get a chance to,
But I will,
You know,
You can think of some things that would be positive statements,
And that's the way the meditation was.
I'm sorry I forgot about that part.
That was while you're in the green cocoon,
Where you had these,
I repeated several affirmations about confusion and clarity,
Gaining clarity,
You know,
Being a person who's about to know.
All the gems you got from this class,
You can add your own.
And it's probably better for you to add your own,
Because it'd be more specific for you.
So anyways,
That is today's class on emotional intelligence,
Moving beyond confusion,
And releasing self-doubt.
I hope you got some value from it.
Just shift and change your,
The possibility in your mind about what confusion is by hearing this,
And does it make sense to you?
Does it make sense what I've talked about?
And if so,
Bravo,
It's expanding your consciousness.
And I leave you with that.
Thank you.
