
Making Peace With The Mind
A simple guided meditation practice of slowing down and quieting a racing mind. This is to ease overthinking, release stress and tension. Ultimately, it is about surrendering to the flow of your mind as you create soothing inner peace.

In this meditation,
We are going to shift the energy and experience within the mind.
Maybe you've been feeling overwhelmed with thoughts,
Overthinking,
Feeling stressed or worried,
Fearful,
Obsessive,
Whatever the case may be,
Here is an opportunity to make peace with the mind,
To quiet that racing experience and to ease that overthinking so you can surrender to the flow of your mind as you create a soothing sense of inner peace.
So let's begin by getting comfortable.
However you see fit,
If you feel guided to lay down or be seated,
And you can position your hands in your lap or by your side,
Just feel comfortable.
Also making sure you're wearing loose clothes and nothing is going to distract you in your immediate experience.
And you can gently close your eyes and we'll begin with a nice big deep breath in and exhale.
And another deep breath in and let it out.
And one more nice peaceful deep breath in and let it out.
And begin to settle into your current space that you occupy and that's all your own.
And with each breath you begin to slip deeper and deeper into a calming state where you surrender more and more into relaxation.
And let's gently scan the body,
Feeling our experience so we are not distracted by anything.
Sometimes the body as it relaxes feels maybe some itchiness or tingling sensations.
So begin at the bottoms of your feet and gently and smoothly scan up your body through your legs,
Up into your seat and your midsection,
Your stomach,
Your back.
And if you notice anything or any feelings come up for you,
Just be aware of them and let them go as you come back to your breath.
For you can always rely on your breath to calm you and to bring you back into a peaceful centeredness.
Scanning up through your chest and upper back.
Relaxing your shoulders,
Your arms,
Your hands and your fingers.
Relaxing the throat,
Easing the jaw and rest your tongue on the bottom of your mouth.
And connect in with the big wide open space behind your eyes where your thoughts appear,
Where they develop and lead you in many directions.
And feel into this space behind your eyes.
And notice if there's anything that you have on your mind that's creating a feeling of overwhelm or distraction as we bring our attention on to what's on our mind.
Rather than avoiding it,
Through our breath we shine a light on everything in our mind to honor it and to give it space and room to breathe within the mind.
So as you inhale and exhale,
Begin to feel the space within your mind getting larger and larger,
More expansive and more space for these thoughts to be as you feel them and acknowledge them.
As you recognize the power of your mind and all of the thoughts,
Feelings and emotions that hold your attention and maybe send you off in directions that you feel you don't want to head in,
It's all okay.
For the mind is always working in our favor and one of our greatest gifts,
Leading us into creativity,
To safety and to new experiences.
And as we find our calm centeredness through our breath and through intention,
We allow our thoughts to have the space to expand and to release.
So I invite you to really feel into that big wide open space behind your eyes as you feel you are slipping deeper into a calm,
Balanced state,
Creating more harmony within your mind.
And as you infuse harmony into your mind and all these thoughts that fill it,
The thoughts begin to settle,
Almost like a turbulent body of water that begins to calm and become more still,
A body of water where the waves become ripples and the ripples become stillness and the stillness becomes beautiful,
Calm,
Stable and clear glass that reflects back to you your serene peacefulness as these thoughts that were energetic and busy begin to dissipate and gently float away into the atmosphere.
And if you need to,
You can take these thoughts that have been occupying your energy and attention and you can place them in a bubble or on a cloud and see them gently float away into the air.
If there are many of them,
You may see many bubbles or clouds floating away in all directions,
Feeling the sky getting further and further away from you as you feel more calm and more grounded and lighter as you no longer carry the weight of these thoughts and all the energy that they possess,
All of them floating away further and further,
Becoming distant flickers in the horizon and high above in all directions.
You feel calmer,
Lighter,
More grounded and centered as all of these thoughts disappear into the universe,
Allowing you to have more freedom within your mind that feels and looks like an expansive,
Still body of water that's so beautiful,
Reflecting your inner light like a beautiful morning sun,
Your inner light that is eternally calm and always balanced for you are being reminded of this inner stillness that's always available to you.
All it takes is connecting in with your breath and each inhale and exhale,
You stabilize this inner calmness that releases the thoughts that no longer serve you and breathe.
And with this clear,
Calm space that you've created with your mind,
Filling peace in all of its corners,
Easing tension,
Infusing you with stillness,
This energy begins to expand in all directions within your body,
Descending down from that space behind your eyes,
All the way down through your entire being,
Not only throughout your body,
But you begin to radiate this beautiful stillness that not only brings peace to your own mind,
It creates peace and stillness in the energy that surrounds you and all that you do and wherever you go.
You have created a firm and solid,
Stable core and pillar of peace and clarity.
So whenever you feel that thoughts begin to kick up again for you,
Know that that's okay.
That's part of life in the human experience.
But you have created a firm foundation and an ability to handle those thoughts and the racing mind for with each breath,
You reconnect with your center and recreate that expansive stillness behind your eyes and within your mind,
Always available to release those thoughts into the atmosphere for your mind is resilient and capable of flowing and releasing and providing you with the safety and the harmony that's always within you.
You sometimes just need to be reminded of it.
And as you continue to breathe,
Feeling this profound experience of calmness and relaxation with a clear mind that's so balanced and ready to continue forward and handle all you need to handle,
Bringing joy to your experience and clarity to your expansive understanding of all that is.
Your breath is always here to calm you and clear your mind right now and forever.
And let's take one more nice,
Big,
Beautiful deep breath in and let it out.
And when you're ready,
You can gently open your eyes and come back to your space.
Fifty seconds until you've been in space,
And let it out.
And let it out.
