Hi,

My name is Makara and this is a guided practice for times when you're feeling stressed and overwhelmed.

There may be days and maybe today is one of them.

When the stress and overwhelm are too much.

And it feels like the world is asking more from you than you have to offer.

A feeling like you're always behind and never quite able to catch up.

A feeling of exhaustion and fatigue that is more than physical,

Mental and emotional.

It can feel at times like the weight of the world is on your shoulders,

Carrying it all and it's all too heavy.

And then in the midst of all of this,

It feels like you lose yourself.

The overwhelm changes you into someone less recognizable.

Irritated,

Angry,

Confused.

Everything feeling tight,

Shallow and shut down.

I want you to know this is normal.

You have reached your capacity.

You are not breaking.

Your self is speaking to you.

Calling out for your care.

Signaling to be rescued.

And that is why you're here right now.

You are listening to the part of yourself that knows another way.

The part of yourself that doesn't need more.

That needs less.

The part of you that knows it's time to set the heaviness down and let go.

It's no longer yours to carry.

Gently bring your awareness into your shoulders.

Feeling them begin to let go.

Allowing them to soften.

The softness begins to spread up into your neck,

Jaw,

Tongue,

Eyes and all the tiny muscles around the eyes relax.

The sensation spreads up between your eyebrows and the whole forehead.

Feeling this sense of gentle relaxation begin to make its way back to you.

Your breathing becomes deeper.

And just for right now,

Giving yourself permission to be free.

Free from any and all distractions and demands.

Creating some space for yourself.

Space to breathe.

Let's breathe together.

Inhale.

Exhale.

Inhale.

Exhale.

Inhale.

Exhale.

Inhale.

Exhale.

Inhale.

And on this exhale begin to extend the exhale further and longer than your inhale.

Breathing at your own pace.

Inhale.

And lengthen out the exhale.

Inhale.

Lengthen out your exhale.

Inhale.

And lengthen out your exhale.

Time your mind begins to wander,

Bring it back to your breath.

Breathing at your own pace and following this breath as it leads you back here to this moment.

Feeling your presence here.

Sensing into your whole body,

Holding yourself with attention and care just as you are.

Here,

Breathing,

Slowing down,

Softening.

Returning,

Coming home to yourself.

Now placing one hand onto your heart and the other on your belly.

As you inhale,

Feel the body rise and expand.

And as you exhale,

Feel the body fall.

Feel into the sensations of your body breathing.

Feel the support of your hands supporting yourself.

Being here for yourself.

Listening to this deep call to return right here,

Right now.

This peace and relaxation begins to sink deeper into your body.

It's as if your muscles,

Bones,

And tissues are soaking it up.

Embodying this presence.

And now taking a moment of gratitude that you took this time for yourself.

That you nurtured and cared for yourself in such a way that only you could do.

You slowed down.

You kept it simple.

And returned to your breath.

May you take this energy with you as you go into the rest of your day.
