Day 20 (of 30). We attach to things, people, emotions, words, thoughts, substances, ways of being, and so on… we are creatures of habit and a lot of times we are even attached to our habits. The weird thing about attachment is we like it, it feels safe. It is familiar, even if it causes us harm. Everything we do is to love ourselves even though it doesn’t seem that way sometimes. Let's explore what you are attached to.

Today is about attachment.

Now this is a gigantic abstract concept out there that many spiritual teachers,

Psychologists,

And gurus talk about.

There are four different attachment styles that you can look up if you're curious to learn more about how attachment has been studied and broken down.

But that will not be what I cover here today.

So first things first,

I am no guru,

But I have experienced my own mind inside of attachment and addiction,

And I know that it has caused me suffering.

I also know that we all have things we are attached to,

And because of this,

It is a topic for you to get curious about in your own way to reduce your own personal suffering.

We attach to things,

People,

Emotions,

Words,

Thoughts,

Substances,

Ways of being,

And so on.

We are creatures of habit,

And a lot of times we are even attached to our habits.

We are addicted to the way things make us feel in the moment.

We are afraid of who we might become without it,

Even though we crave to be that person.

We are addicted to the wanting.

We are afraid to have what we say we want.

What will we complain about?

We are addicted to our complaining.

Our attachment to fear keeps us stuck.

I use the word addiction loosely here,

But in the context of this 30 days,

The addictive mind is an attached mind,

And all the work that you have been doing is about detaching from the patterns to see which ones are working and which ones aren't so that you can be the creator of your life and operate from a place of choice and empowerment,

Not default programming,

Attachment,

And addiction.

Let's get real for a moment.

What do you feel attached to?

What are you addicted to?

I often ask people,

Including myself,

Who are you without that thing that you are attached to?

It can be anything,

That thought,

That actual substance,

That person,

Just fill in the blank.

It is different for everyone,

And we all have maybe more than one.

Asking this question is a major step in breaking the hold it has on you.

The minute you can open the door just a little to the idea of being someone else without it,

You already shift the trajectory.

The weird thing about attachment is we like it.

It feels safe.

It is familiar,

Even if it causes us harm.

Everything we do is to love ourselves,

Even though it doesn't seem that way sometimes.

The definition of attachment uses the words affection and fondness.

We have affection and fondness for our familiar harm.

We rather stay in the pain we know versus take the risk of the unknown,

Which in our minds sometimes equates to more harm.

Attachment can blind us.

We attach to our fears as if to protect fear from feeling the pain of your breakup.

This is the importance of developing your relationship with the parts of you,

To learn to have a dialogue and negotiation with your emotional portfolio.

Healing myself from my obsessive addictive mind is pretty much why I'm making these audios and do the work that I do.

Getting to the core of my own suffering and learning to attach to a more productive,

Positive way of thinking and being was what I committed to so I could end my own suffering.

I felt trapped a lot of the time inside my mind,

Leading me down pathways of what felt like unconscious decision-making for only momentary satisfaction.

I had to find a way out,

Building my own emotional portfolio is the inspiration to this program and it was the path to joy and peace for me.

So I invite you to be brave enough to ask yourself,

Who are you without that thing?
