The question is,
What vibration are you attuning to,
And what kind of thoughts are you picking up?
Great comment on the vibration,
By the way.
Great comment.
We are all energy,
Right?
We are all energy.
Any physicist will tell you,
We are all energy,
Right?
It's just that the body appears so solid,
All of this appears so solid,
Because it's just in certain forms,
Energy is slowed down enough for us to be able to perceive it as solid,
Or to think that it might be solid.
But we are all energy.
What you are thinking about,
What you are thinking about,
Is changing your energy,
Right?
And so if we're thinking negative thoughts most of the time,
And a lot of us are,
If you're unconscious,
You are vibrating in a way that you do not want to be vibrating.
This is one of the challenges that I have with law of attraction.
Not that I don't think it works,
But I think people say,
Oh,
It sounds so wonderful.
Oh,
Law of attraction,
Yeah.
I'll just think about what I want,
And I'll get it,
And I'll be happy.
Who doesn't want that,
Right?
It sounds amazing.
It sounds incredible.
But the problem is,
Most of the time,
We are thinking about what we don't want,
Or what we don't have.
80% of our thoughts are fear-based.
We evolved to focus on what could go wrong,
Not what's going right.
So without a very solid practice,
You're not attracting what you want,
Right?
And what we want,
Well,
There's nothing wrong with material possessions.
There's nothing wrong with wanting a new job,
Wanting a new boyfriend,
Wanting any of these things.
No problem wanting any of those things.
But they are secondary.
If you want to feel whole and complete and that sense of belonging and safe inside,
And this is what I think we all want,
Right?
We want that contentment.
It's not in thinking about what I want that's going to bring me that.
It's going to bring me into a state of lack,
Of feeling like I'm not enough,
And that I'm not happy.
But you come into your heart.
You spend a few minutes on gratitude.
You spend a few moments thinking about when someone was kind to you and how good that felt,
That kindness,
Or the generosity that you gave to another person,
Thinking about compassion,
Thinking about caring about another being.
You have changed your whole vibration.
And you are now vibrating at the frequency that you want to be vibrating at.
So the way that I teach it,
I don't teach people to imagine you want these things outside of you and that you're going to get them.
And they're going to make you happy.
They can't make you happy,
Not for very long,
Not for very long.
It's an impermanence,
Fleeting happiness.
Nothing wrong with it.
Nothing wrong with enjoying the chocolate cake.
Nothing wrong with wanting to have a nice car or to have the nice massage.
No problem.
Any of those things,
No problem.
But they cannot bring you the contentment,
The peace,
The quiet,
The stillness that you are seeking inside.
That comes from within.
And the heart is a beautiful way to access that.
It's why,
In the meditation,
Before I ask you the self-inquiry question,
I bring you into your heart to access the wisdom of your heart.
If we want to vibrate at a frequency that is equanimous and peaceful and still,
We cannot do that from a state of wanting.
That is the exact opposite of contentment.
I want this.
Again,
It's OK to say,
It would be nice if that happened or working towards something,
But not imagining that whatever you get on the outside of you is ever going to bring you fulfillment or completeness.
You've had all of these things.
We've all had them.
And they did not bring us the completeness and happiness that we were looking for.
They're icing on the cake.
Focus on that internal vibration.
Focus on what's here in the present moment.
And even in heart-centered practices,
Where I just talked about gratitude or kindness or care or generosity,
Yeah,
Our thoughts are kind of going out of the present moment,
Say for a few minutes.
But it has a way of cutting through all those negative thoughts,
Bringing us into reality to remember the good things.
Because that mind is so easily trained on the bad things and what could go wrong.
So we have to train our mind back to,
What do you have that's going right?
I have a nice home.
I have a roof over my head.
All of my dogs are healthy right now.
I'm healthy right now.
I have food in the fridge.
I have beautiful people that came on my class today.
I'm so grateful for this.
I'm so grateful for these conditions.
It reminds us of all of the good things we have going on.
When we're focusing on the kindness that someone showed to us in the past,
Yeah,
People have been kind to all of us.
But we don't remember that.
We remember the people that were unkind to us,
The people that were suffering.
So it's about focusing on the right things,
Focusing on what's going right as a way to bring us into the present moment.
So again,
Another mindfulness practice,
Coming in through the heart,
Changing our vibration,
Changing our energy.
And this is the kind of energy and vibration that when you go around and when it's really firmly established,
You don't pick up on that negative energy that's around you any longer,
Right?
Because it really creates a kind of a,
Like,
I won't use the word shield because we're not separate from anything,
But it just firmly establishes you in the here and now.
So the heart,
Your energy,
Your vibration.
Thank you,
Claudia,
For bringing that up because I am a big believer in coming inside for that vibration,
Not looking for it outside.
