Sometimes, the simple grounding practice is to connect to the physical earth beneath us and the physical body carrying our souls through our day-to-day. Arriving in the present moment is a conscious practice of rest that allows us to slow down and pull back from the trance of our daily hustle.

Hello,

Melissa here with a really quick grounding exercise for you.

You can do this standing up,

Sitting,

Or laying down.

Whatever is most comfortable and most accessible for you and your body in this moment.

From whichever position you've chosen to practice,

Take a moment to just notice the surface beneath you,

Grounding down through the soles of your feet,

Through your seat,

Or maybe through your whole back body.

If it feels comfortable and available to you,

Maybe placing your hands somewhere on your body,

Either your thighs,

Your belly,

Or over your heart.

Take a deep breath in,

Long and steady breath out.

As you breathe in,

Just arrive into this current experience you're having.

As you breathe out,

Just invite the body to find more ease and relaxation.

Take one more big breath in like this,

And a big breath out.

Notice how you feel in your body.

If any one sensation seems to dominate your attention,

Your focus,

Your awareness,

Come back to the experience of grounding through your feet,

Your seat,

Or your whole back body.

Notice how it feels,

Even if just for a moment,

To allow the earth to support the weight of your beingness,

And perhaps the weight of your burdens too.

Let's take one more big breath in together,

And a big breath out.

Stay here for as long as you need,

Taking as many deep breaths as you need,

And whenever you're ready,

Gently ease back into your day.
