This practice works with the breath, gathering negativity and stress, drawing them down the channel of the spine, and releasing them into the earth. Meditation For Busy Minds will occupy your mind, so that you feel rooted, and steady by the end. Hold stones or pebbles in your palms for extra grounding!

Welcome to grounding meditation.

Before we get started,

Please pause this and go grab two stones,

Two pebbles or rocks to place in your palms for additional grounding.

And then once you have these stones,

Please rest them in your palms face up and just bring awareness to your breath.

Feel your belly,

Your ribs,

Your chest move as you breathe.

And as you feel a sense of lightness in your breath,

You also feel this heaviness in your palms,

In your hips and in your legs.

And then we will begin a Kriya,

An activity that draws our breath down from the crown of the head to the base of the spine.

On inhale,

And then we'll hold the breath momentarily at the base of the spine.

And then we'll exhale the breath down into the core of the earth.

On your next inhale,

Feel the breath from the crown of your head.

Feel it gathering down through the thread of the spine,

Gathering negativity,

Stress.

And then feel it collecting at the base of your spine and hold your breath there for a moment.

And then on your exhale,

Send all of that stress and negativity into the core of the earth.

And we'll repeat this series for the next couple of minutes.

Inhale,

Drawing from the crown of your head down through the spine,

Toxins,

Waste,

Negativity.

Let it collect at the base of your spine.

Hold your breath out there for a moment or two.

And then exhale,

Feel it with your breath being pushed into the core of the world.

Inhale,

Drawing from the top of the head,

Negativity,

Bad habits.

Let those collect at the base of the spine.

And then on exhale,

With your breath,

Push them into the core of the earth.

Continue,

Please,

On your own for the next minute.

Just sensing or seeing the stress,

The negativity collect.

And then sensing it collect at the base of your spine.

And then feel it being purged from your body on every exhale.

A few more rounds,

Please.

Now,

Please rest awareness at the base of your spine.

And see or sense a blue downward pointing triangle at the base of your spine.

And feel all of this downward energy that you've been collecting along your spine.

Feel it gathering here.

And then see or sense the release of this energy into the core of the earth.

See that as lightning bolts coming from this downward pointing blue triangle.

Lightning bolts of this downward energy coming out of the body and into the earth.

If at any point you lose this image or this sensing for a long period of time,

I find it helpful to move with the breath.

So on inhale,

Gather that downward energy along your spine.

Let it collect in that blue triangle.

And then on your exhale,

See or sense those lightning bolts pulsing,

Pulsing,

Pushing that energy from the blue triangle at the base of your spine into the earth.

So allow the movement and flow of your breath to help guide this movement in the blue triangle and through the lightning bolts.

And then when it feels,

When you feel that you can rest awareness in the triangle and the lightning bolts on its own,

Without the use of your breath,

Please try that.

Knowing you can return to the technique of your breath at any point.

We'll remain here for about another two minutes.

Another few breath cycles here.

And then come back to your breath.

Feeling how using your breath has become cleansing.

Less stressed,

Less negativity.

Feel how that some of that has been pushed from your body.

And from that more ease and stability.

And now come back to your palms.

If you chose to rest a stone or a rock in each palm,

Feel the weight.

Feel how you don't know where the stone ends and your palm begins.

And if you don't have a stone in your hand,

Please place your palms face down on your knees or your thighs.

And then feel that support,

That closure upon the other.

So whichever position you're in and you've chosen,

Feel rooted in it.

And we'll rest for just about another minute or so in this feeling of rootedness,

Of weight,

Of steadiness.

Stay with your palms and that feeling of heavy,

Of heaviness.

And then if you have stones in your palm,

Please put those off to the side.

And then keeping your eyes closed,

Begin to rub your palms together.

Generate a little bit of heat.

And then when you have that heat,

Place your palms over your eyes,

Creating a sense of healing but also of support.

Support so that you can open your eyes and allow light to slowly filter and enter.

And once you've allowed enough light to enter,

Lower your hands to your heart center and bow your head slightly.

Bowing to yourself,

Your higher self,

Who needs constant reminders to find grounding and rest.
