Sometimes we end up in situations where we feel like we need to do something that we'd rather not do. And we usually end up doing the thing reluctantly, bringing in negative energy and preventing ourselves from creating great results when we do act. If you really feel like you have to do something you'd rather not do, it's super helpful to clear up your energy around it before you do the thing. This guided practice will help you do just that!

This is a quick but powerful meditation to help you align your energy when you need to do something that quite frankly you'd rather not do.

Take a couple of conscious breaths and just allow the body to relax and soften.

Allow the mind and the emotions to soften too.

Just intend it and see what happens.

And then just allowing your resistance to the thing,

To surface.

So rather than trying to squash the resistance,

Consciously choose to give it space.

It's there and it's real.

So you might as well allow it to be there and be real because it is.

Allow the resistance to be as intense as it needs to be so that it feels fully expressed.

And then feel almost like you're breathing into the resistance.

You're giving it your attention,

Your consciousness.

You're giving it space and energy.

And then just asking the resistance with curiosity if there's anything that it feels like you need to consider or think about or know.

And just acknowledging that and processing that inside of yourself.

And just going to change tact a little.

So sometimes when we have agreed to do a thing that really we wish we didn't have to do,

We can start to feel trapped.

We can start to feel stuck.

But the truth is we're making a choice.

You could choose to not do the thing because you have free will.

It's just that you don't want to have to deal with the consequences that might flow from you not doing the thing.

Bring yourself back though to the fact that it is a choice.

The circumstances aren't making you even though it can feel that way.

So bring that knowing that a choice is being made by you into the space of the resistance.

Choice is an expansive energy.

Allow that expansive energy of choice to kind of blend with the resistance in whatever way feels right for you.

And then take a moment to get really clear on why you are making that choice.

What are your values that are leading you to this decision?

Why is this the choice?

And noticing whether the responses you got from your inner world were responses of trying to avoid something or trying to create something.

And if they were of trying to avoid something,

What is it?

And then deeper than that,

What is the opposite?

What is the thing that is underneath that you actually want?

It might be that you want to be helpful.

It might be that you want the person that you are doing the thing for to feel supported and loved.

It might be that you know it will bring someone joy.

It might be that you will feel the relief of having done it.

Find the value that is guiding you towards this choice.

And then imagine yourself expanding that value inside of yourself so that it fills you up.

And now think about the thing.

The thing that you are choosing to do despite the fact that parts of you don't really want to do it.

Notice what happens in your inner world when you take your attention there.

And then I want you to imagine that you are placing a filter between you and the thing.

And that filter is the value.

The value that is guiding you towards that choice.

It's almost like if you were to put on some yellow sunglasses,

Everything you see will be tinged with yellow.

As you look through the filter of your values at this thing that you are going to do,

You see it through the prism of that value.

And then checking in with yourself internally,

Reminding yourself that it is a choice that you are making and a choice that aligns to your values.

Feeling as though you're intending and allowing for the resistance to drop away.

And then imagine the thing going well.

Going better by far than you expected.

Imagine it feeling light.

Allow it to play out in your mind and feel the feelings of you being glad that you did it.

And then just with curiosity,

Asking your inner world if there's anything that you haven't thought of that might help this situation,

A perspective of you,

An alternative thing that you could do that would achieve the same outcome or made that same value.

If there is,

You can ponder that.

And if there isn't,

Recommitting to your value,

Your choice,

The filter through which you look at the thing and expanding your expectation to it feeling light,

To it going well,

And to you achieving your aim.

If resistance comes up between now and when you need to do the thing,

You can repeat this process so that you enter the action or the activity with as much of you aligned to it as possible,

So that you can enjoy it as much as you can,

So that you can access lightness and flow as you move forward.
