
Meditation Experiments To Discover The Truth
In this meditation, the listener will be guided to engage with simple contemplative experiments to analyze the nature of their awareness/consciousness. Such first-hand experiments are the only ways to prove to your seeker selves the existence and the nature of the core reality in all of us. Know the truth with certainty. These experiments have all the flavors of meditation, such as peace and happiness, but above all, it has the power to show you your true nature and dissolve doubts as you progress toward the non-dual truth - the reality of all things. In today's meditation we will do few experiments,
Few experiments in our awareness,
To our awareness like an honest scientist and if you see there is nothing else that we have that we can truly experiment on than our own experience,
All we have is experience.
So we are best suited to do this experiment on our experience and we are the only person who can do experiment on our experience,
So with that in mind truly become aware of what is right now,
Become more attuned with all your sensations,
With all your colors and shapes in your awareness,
Become more familiar,
Intimate with them and become at ease with them.
So first part of our experiment is to see if we can become at ease with our experience,
See if we can just be a silent witness of our experiences,
Become this honest scientist and allow yourself to just be the witness,
Witness of all that is unfolding in you and when I say in you what I mean is in you the awareness,
So the things are unfolding in your awareness such as you listening to this sound,
My sound,
The music,
The sounds coming from your room,
But see how you can just be witness of this sound,
Meaning of the sounds,
You don't have to go and deciphering every word or every meaning of the sound,
If a bird outside is chirping you know very intuitively that a bird is chirping outside,
Thus no effort is needed in being and knowing,
However see that you can choose to pay attention to a specific sound and it's your innate freedom to do so,
So it's your freedom to pay attention to a sound if you choose to do so,
However the experiment is to be witness of the sound,
So allow all the sounds in your soundscape to be present and see if you can just be the witness of it,
Even for few seconds,
As you may have explored that as you try to remain as witness,
Things and shapes come in your awareness,
But you are able to remain witness to a lot of them,
But you may have also seen that sometimes you get carried away with those shapes and colors and patterns and it's completely fine,
However the point of the experience,
The experiment was to know the nature of your own awareness that can stand behind the content of your experience,
The content of your awareness and remain as witness,
Remain as unattached witness,
So again we do this experiment and this time we remain witness to more than just the sounds,
Remain witness to the breathing,
To the bodily sensation and the sound,
All the sounds,
Some sounds are coming from within your own body,
Very subtle sounds,
Some sounds are coming from your computer,
Your mobile and some even from outside of your room and all your bodily sensations so sounds and bodily sensations and you are witness to both,
Conduct this experiment of remaining witness to bodily sensations and all the soundscape,
Bodily sensations and all the soundscape,
The entire soundscape,
Continue to explore this,
Continue as an honest scientist merely observing your witness-like ability to witness sounds and bodily sensations and now like an honest scientist ask yourself that did you see,
Did you meet any boundary as you were witnessing your bodily sensation and all the sounds because conventionally speaking the sounds are coming from outside of your body,
Some are inside of your body but most sounds that you may have heard coming from outside of your body,
In most bodily sensations,
In fact all bodily sensations are conventionally speaking are arising in your body or on the surface of the body but in your awareness,
In your awareness to both of them,
The sounds and the body,
Did you encounter any boundary,
Did you see any border which clearly says this is sound from outside and this is bodily sensation from inside,
Just like a very honest observation see if you can see any boundary,
Boundary between those two so-called spaces,
The inside space and the outside space,
In your own experience do you see any boundary,
For those boundaries if they,
If they are there you should encounter them,
Are there any boundaries,
In this awareness things seem to be present as one wide openness,
In one wide openness you perceive the sounds and you perceive the bodily sensation,
The perception of bodily sensation is not something trivial,
This is how we perceive our body,
This is how we know of our body,
The perception of our body,
The sensation of our body tells us that this is our body,
This is your knowledge of your body,
So the body as we call it is this knowledge,
The knowledge of sensation that we feel,
So in this vast knowing,
In awareness you feel your body and you also see the sound from outside and you don't seem to see,
Find any boundaries,
So in awareness is knowing of outside and inside,
There is no,
So for this experiment we are letting go of the boundary,
We're going to become one with the space of awareness which just knows without any boundary,
It knows the outside and it knows the inside,
It is synonymous to both spaces without any boundary,
So let go any sense of boundary and become one with this knowing space,
Remain one with this knowing sense of your awareness and know that you are here,
I would also like to now ask you a question that when we say I am here,
When you say I am here,
You are always in this knowing space of awareness,
You are never there,
So in this world of awareness,
In this world of our experiment,
Imagine yourself reaching to the highest peak on the earth,
Mount Everest and in language we would say it's there,
It's outside,
So when you are there,
When you are on the peak of Mount Everest and if you see from the lens of your awareness,
Wouldn't you say that I am here,
So experientially you are never there,
It's always here,
Now is it true,
Like an honest scientist ask yourself that when or if you get to go to the moon and then you close your eyes at the moon,
Where would you be,
Would you not be here and is this a trivial,
This is a trivial understanding that you are always here,
All our concepts of,
Concepts of being there,
A different location are never realized in experiencing,
In experiential way,
So you're always here and now imagine that 10 days,
20 days down a track in future sometime,
You have got to the place that you love the most,
So you've been to that place and you have closed your eyes and you know that you will be here,
Even at that place you will be here in this awareness,
As this awareness,
But what would be the time,
What would be the time when you are there,
It will always be this now,
Now is it true,
So let's assess,
True scientist,
The nature of time,
The nature of now,
The nature of past and future and go back to any memory,
Any happy memory or any mediocre memory,
Memories are by definition from past,
So visit that memory and see if that memory takes you to the past time and does it take you to still here in this now,
So there is no experiential way you can visit your past,
It's always through memory and memory is always now,
See if this true in your experience,
Aren't all memories taking place in this now,
In this here,
Be vigilant,
But you do not need to strain or pay excessive effort to know this,
So remain in light knowing awareness,
Remain at ease in your laboratory and ask yourself what is the nature of my memory,
Does it take me to the past or am I always here in this now,
Even when I am reliving my memory very intensely,
Reliving my memory,
I'm still always here in this now and by now you know that that's probably the same phenomenon with the future,
So go back to your very preferred dream future,
Go to that dream that you wish to achieve,
Very experientially become that person you want to be,
Go to that location you want to visit,
Be with that person you want to see in your experiment,
In your imagination,
Go there and we hope that this dream come true for you in future,
But when that is true for you in future,
What time would that be,
Would that be some different time,
Would that be this now,
So is it true to say that experientially you have never experienced anything but,
Is it true to say that you have never experienced anything but this now,
You could never experience anything but this now,
Is it true,
Ask your scientist self,
Ask your awareness,
Am I not always here,
Am I not always perpetually situated in this now,
If so,
Isn't my concept of time,
Time that seemed to be traveling from past to future in one horizontal line,
That's how I see time,
Isn't that concept questionable,
Ask your scientist self that question,
Because a busy scientist has a lot more questions to explore,
So let go of that and become the witness again,
The first experiment again,
Become witness of all that is taking place in your awareness,
Your scientist self has experimented on several things but now the scientist self is resting,
Resting in this awareness of knowing being but not paying any effort,
Not trying to prove or disprove anything,
Still very happy here in this awareness,
Just like this nothing special is taking place,
You are at ease,
You are at ease breathing in,
Breathing out,
Now we will explore the nature of thoughts in all these images and concepts and memories and dreams and mental chattering,
We can call them mental activities,
So let's explore the nature of,
Let's explore the nature of thought,
We talk about thoughts all the time,
Especially as a meditator we have this concept of not having thought,
Thoughtlessness is a good meditation,
So ask yourself a question as an honest scientist,
I wonder what would be my next thought,
Ask yourself my next thought,
Good answer,
That as I was exploring this question I took a position waiting for the thought and it didn't come for some time and when it didn't come for some time I may have experienced something called gap,
Gap between two thoughts,
Ask yourself the question again what would be my next thought and become the gap,
In fact you are always the gap,
It's just that the content of your awareness are so alluring that they take over,
Just that,
But you are always underneath the gap,
My wish for you is to continue to visit this gap as true honest scientist in this laboratory of your experience,
The only thing that you have,
The only thing that you can experiment on,
The only thing that can convince you,
Prove or disprove for you and see how peaceful it is,
How the fragrances of this space like the peacefulness and happiness,
Because it's your essential self,
There is the sense of freedom and peacefulness here,
So continue to visit this gap,
Meet you again next week in this very space which is always here and always now for all of us.
