Hello,
My name is Maya Rain,
And I am going to guide you through this practice of connecting to the silence within yourself.
So often it can feel like our internal worlds are loud and chaotic.
So many thoughts happening at once,
So many things to do,
So many emotions being felt.
It can be hard to pause,
To take a moment of true silence.
In this meditation,
You are going to begin the practice of connecting with the silence that lives within you.
A place of deep rest,
Deep reconnection to your truest self,
And deep peace.
Beginning with some breaths in and out through the nose,
Allow your eyes to close,
And your body to find itself in space however feels most comfortable,
Softening wherever you find tension,
And breathing through any thoughts that begin to arise.
Throughout this meditation,
I'm going to ask you to use your exhale as a way of blowing away the thoughts that arise in your mind,
Imagining that your thoughts are like small bugs flying in front of your face,
And when you exhale,
You blow them away.
Whenever a new thought arises,
Just blow out through your mouth,
Allowing that thought to ride out on your breath,
And to be released into the air around you,
No longer stuck in your mind.
Your in-breath is going to be a way of connecting into a deeper part of yourself.
As you inhale,
Imagine that you are moving deeper into a cavern,
Deeper toward the center of a cave,
Of deep stillness,
A sacred space within you that is untouchable by anything external.
Start to practice this now,
Inhaling to dive deeper inside of yourself,
And exhaling to let go of your thoughts.
Notice here where your center of awareness feels like it's resting.
Is it resting in your mind,
Your third eye between your eyebrows,
Or somewhere else in your body?
Allow that awareness to delve deep within yourself,
Perhaps centering in your heart space,
And moving deeper into your own peaceful,
Beautiful cave within,
From your heart space down.
As you dive deeper and deeper,
Allow your senses to withdraw,
Allowing the only noise you hear to be your breath inside of your body.
The only thing you see is your descent deeper and deeper within yourself.
Now I'd like you to imagine that as you move into this deeper space,
You can see at the end of a long tunnel,
A small light from a candle flame.
Coming closer to the light,
Noticing the flame flickering,
Noticing that it casts light upon the walls,
Coming closer and closer,
Until eventually you can make out the shape of a small candle with its flame bouncing deep within this cavernous recess.
I'd like you to take a seat in front of that candle in your mind's eye,
And begin to notice that the candle flame dances with your breath.
When you inhale,
The flame moves.
When you exhale,
The flame dances more.
Begin to slow your breathing to such a state that it barely moves the flame at all,
And then making the decision that the flame will become centered as you are centered,
Allow yourself to watch the flame get more and more steady as you become more and more steady.
Eventually the flame stands upright,
Casting its small glow in even light around you.
As you look into the flame,
You are able to be in total silence,
And total stillness,
And total safety,
Hearing nothing but your own heartbeat,
Perhaps the smallest inhales and exhales hardly perceivable,
And then the flame begins to slowly burn out,
Getting smaller and smaller,
Bringing the room,
Bringing the cave into greater darkness,
Until eventually You are sitting deep inside this space,
In darkness and silence,
Alone but not lonely,
Still yet deeply connected,
Breathing evenly and easefully,
Completely relaxed,
Completely trusting,
Completely allowing,
Taking as long as you'd like in this space of stillness and rest.
Slowly,
The flame begins to reignite itself,
Growing in brightness,
Bringing you back into awareness that you are in a space,
In a body,
You see the flame,
And you begin to reconnect with your breath as the flame connects with your breath,
Dancing as you inhale and exhale.
Now it is time to stand and make the ascent back up from where you came,
Standing and turning your back to the flame,
Walking up,
Back through the cavern,
Bringing your awareness back toward the surface of yourself,
Back toward your heart center,
Back toward your physical body,
Until you are once again sitting in your body,
In this meditation,
Experiencing the sense of listening,
Of feeling,
Of experiencing your life and all of the beauty that it has.
Take a few invigorating breaths here,
Bringing some life force back into your inhales,
And exhaling to arrive back in your body,
Perhaps bringing in some movement to your fingers and toes to recenter yourself.
As you're ready,
Coming back into full awareness,
Blinking your eyes slowly open,
And feeling the peace that emanates from deep within you that you can carry through the rest of your day.
