Welcome to this chanting session in which we'll explore the Ganesh Bija mantra.

Ganesh is a doorway.

His mother Parvati,

Mother of the Universe,

Positioned him at the doorway so that nobody would come in while she was taking a bath.

She positioned him between herself and the rest of the world.

He's the guardian.

He's the one through whom we have to pass in order to reach the Divine.

That Divine lives inside of us and that Divine is the heart of the cosmos.

And so in order to touch our own inner divinity,

In order to access our own inner divinity,

We have to go through Ganesh.

We have to ask Ganesh for his blessing and his passage.

So it's helpful to think of Ganesh sitting there at the gateway,

At the doorway,

The one to whom we bow as we seek to connect to our own inner divinity.

The Ganesh Bija mantra is made up of four words.

The first is Aum.

Aum is the sound of the universe coming into being.

It starts at the back of the throat and resonates forward to the closure of the lips and contains all of the sounds.

Aum.

Then we have Gang.

Gang is like,

You would spell it G-A-N-G in English.

Gang.

Gang is the Bija mantra for Ganesha.

Ganapati.

Ganapati is the Lord of the Ganas,

The Lord of the Fates,

The Lord of the planets,

The Lord of the Legion,

The Army of the Divine.

Aum,

Gang,

Ganapati,

Namah.

So we bow,

We honor,

We proclaim Ganapati.

Ganapati,

Namah,

Means that.

It means a bow,

A honoring of Ganapati,

The Lord of the cosmos,

The Lord of the planets,

The Lord of the Fates.

Aum,

Gang,

Ganapati,

Namah.

So we'll chant this mantra together 108 times.

So let's inhale together.

Aum,

Gang,

Ganapati,

Namah.

Aum,

Gang,

Ganapati,

Namah.

Aum,

Gang,

Ganapati,

Namah.

Aum,

Gang,

Ganapati,

Namah.

Aum,

Gang,

Ganapati,

Namah.

Aum,

Gang,

Ganapati,

Namah.

Oh Oh Oh Oh Oh Just rest in the feeling of the mantra flowing through you,

Flowing through the space around you.

We'll close this session with a single chant of the sound Aum.

Inhaling.

Aum.
