"Awaken The Body" is a body scanning meditation, designed to help you develop more awareness of where your emotions arise in your body, and accept how you are feeling. Experiencing your emotions as impermanent will allow you to practise 'letting them be' when they arise throughout your day, a form of self-acceptance. The meditation was created by composer Phondupe and Maryhoangindigo for the new book Darkness Is Golden: A Guide to Personal Transformation & Dealing With Life's Messiness.

Close your eyes and simply listen.

Tuning your awareness to the mindfulness of sound.

Listening with your whole self present.

Take three deep,

Grounding breaths.

Fill your lungs with air.

Let go and relax as you breathe out.

Breathe even deeper and then release it slowly on the outbreath.

Noticing areas of tension or heaviness in the body.

Noticing areas of space and freedom in the body.

Noticing with the whole body just as it is.

Accepting how you feel.

Accepting whatever sensations are arising.

Take your attention to the top of your head.

Welcome the awareness of sensations at the top of your head.

Noticing the different feelings.

Noticing and connecting with the feeling in your arms.

Noticing the feeling in your fingers and your hands.

Noticing your abdomen.

Feeling,

Observing and accepting whatever arises.

Taking your attention to the back of the shoulders.

Traveling down the back through all the different layers of sensation.

And everything in between.

Feel the middle back.

Feel the lower back.

Feel the seat of the body.

Connecting with the feeling in your hips.

And bringing that attention down to the thighs.

Exploring.

Noticing.

Being curious.

Take your attention to your knees.

And the front of the knee.

As well as the back of the knee.

And now your shins.

Noticing sensation in the calves.

Connecting with the sensations on the top of your feet.

And now the soles of your feet.

Noticing all these different parts of you.

All these different sensations.

And now let's connect with the whole body.

Feeling connected.

Feeling whole.

Feeling safe.

You are home.

When you are ready,

You may open your eyes.
